Warning: there will be screaming! This was hands down the best Throwback Thursday we’ve had since our One Direction Four episode! WOW, Joanne is something else! I was blown away by the stylized sounds and energy Gaga brings to this album. ✨ She just keeps surprising me and proving me wrong in the best way possible! Years ago, I was a huge Gaga fan, but I drifted away after Artpop... Now, it feels so good to be back with MOTHER again. 💖 Stay connected: 📸 Instagram: @L4urynKing 🎵 TikTok: @L4uryn.king 📮 Send Some Love: PO Box: 256 Eagleview Blvd, #355, Exton, PA 19341
Joanne is the moment, it became clear to the industry, Lady Gaga was no longer concerned with charts & critics, she was going to make her art & wherever it landed, is where it landed & really set the foundation for her “comeback” & who she was going to be, moving forward
Angel Down is specifically about Trayvon Martin but spoke that it’s about everyone who has been taken away from police brutality and senseless acts of gun violence. She sang Angel Down here in Dallas Tx instead of 1000 Doves (and then swapped it out for the rest of the tour) as it was right after the Uvalde Shooting and she had a very very heavy speech beforehand. It was hard and a lot of us were crying but it was a huge moment of community and her speaking against so much.
There are 3 tracks you missed on the deluxe version of this album: - Grigio Girls on one of her best friends who died from cancer (at the time she releases the song her friend was still alive and so happy Gaga gifted her this song) Just another day -> amazing song, such a New York bar vibe Angel down (worktape piano version) -> another version of Angel Down
Listen. I love older Gaga. The fame Monster was an integral part of my teenage years. But Joanne is definitely my favourite album of hers. I love every single track.
The concept of the album was a more personal look at Gaga, not who she is to the world or her fans but who she is to her family, her partners, her friends, herself, and just as a person living in America. She called it ‘Joanne’ because the passing of her aunt impacted her family so much before she was born that it ended up shaping the way she grew up too, mostly with her relationship with her Dad. She said she wasn’t sure if she ever got to meet her real Dad because the loss of his sister changed him so much
You can't even imagine how many people don't like Hey Girl. For me, this song is one of the best on the album. Chromatica as the next reaction would be amazing. The soundtrack to A Star is Born would be amazing too, but I believe you should watch the movie first.
Her most underrated album, also you’re right Angel Down is about police brutality to be specific by the killing of Trayvon Martin in 2012, a 17-year-old African-American, who was visiting his father. it was written by Gaga and her long-time collaborator RedOne
This album is my personal favorite Lady Gaga album. I have a special connection to it because when she releases it I was going through the darkest time of my life. My dad was sick, all was going wrong in my life, I was angry at everything and I swear to you this album just helped bringing me so much peace. I just can't thank her enough for Joanne. And when I heard she wrote it to help her dad while mine was sick I was like "wtf is going on is she in my mind?". Also at this time I got several friendships' disappointments, some people I though being my friends just put me down even more when I was going through literal hell so singing Perfect illusion just made me get out all my rage! And Million Reasons helped me to find peace. The good news is today my dad is in very good shape as ever, my life is going great (even if there are still some ordeals ofc) and I found my inner peace enabling to go through anything. This album was released in 2016, I think I've never grown up more than in this year even if I would say that 2024 is also a year that made me grow a lot too, it's different. Anyway, just to say Joanne is somehow the hidden gem record on Lady Gaga's discography, it is so pure, her voice sounds so good and this album ages like a good wine
You HAVE to read what I'm about to say lool: I went through emotions watching your video (while high) I remember they year of 2016 so clearly... anyways emotions aside: I LOVED the f out of this record, I love Florence as much as I love Gaga and that was my fav track as well, Chormatica is her sellout it was heartbreaking for me and I love her to death ('stupid love' was like a stab to the heart) it's a REALLY long 10+ years lore to explain lool, so I would say listen to: 1. A star is born soundtrack 2. Extras tracks from Joanne Deluxe 3. The remixes records BELIEVE ME (1.Born This way one 2. The fame/monster one 3. Dawn of Chromatica) 4.Revisit Born This Way and Artpop (eventhoug is not my fav has FIRE tracks) Take what you feel! Lots of love 🇧🇷
Her most underrated album, also you’re right Angel Down is about police brutality, to be specific about the killing of Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American, who was visiting his father back in 2012.
Oh nooooo you missed Grigio Girls and Just Another Day! They really should've been on the album idk why they were bonus tracks I love them both. Grigio Girls is about her and her friends getting together to drink wine and cry together about their friend who has cancer while she's not around so they don't make her feel bad. Just Another Day is about just holding your head high and walking around the streets finding positive thoughts She wrote Angel Down about gun violence and police brutality, and how in the age of social media people just stand around without helping. She was shocked when the story of Trayvon Martin came out and how the police officer killed him on the streets and people just stood around recording it all. It was also around the first time Trump was about to be elected so there's a political theme too with the 'where are our leaders' line She named the album Joanne because her aunt was an artist and poet. She has a lupus flair up and the doctors said they'd have to amputate her hands and she died in hospital. Gaga said that she feels it was her duty to continue Joanne's legacy as an artist and put her name out there
I’m SO happy you’re reacting to Gaga. Definitely Chromatica next! I discovered you through your TS reactions and have loved the journey. I think it would be amazing if you reacted to Lady Gaga’s full discography (even the ones you’ve already heard… a revisit episode… we’d rock out with you!). That being said, I would say to give Artpop another chance as well. I hated it when it came out and then revisited it a few years ago and loved it!
Definitely an unpopular opinion here but i think Joanne is Lady Gaga's best work to date (my most favorite album by Gaga is ARTPOP but even ARTPOP isn't as well-executed as Joanne) 😭 It is perfect in its execution of a genre-bending album which is cohesive throughout with a commendable high production value that comes together beautifully well. The songwriting here is toptier (which is very essential for an album with such personal introspection like this). My top favorites on Joanne is the title track, Sinner's Prayer, Million Reasons, Come to Mama & Angel Down. But i love all of the songs & Just Another Day is a must-listen too ❤
ARTPOP in 2024 will blow your mind. ASIB soundtrack is top tier. Cheek to cheek is also top tier. Harlequin has 3 good tracks but happy mistake is that girl. Chromatica is like.. good for a bit but some of Dawn of Chromatica remixes beat out the originals (Free Woman, Babylon)
Maybe you didnt like ARTPOP and that why you stopped listening?. it was very hated at the time, i think its more accepted now, I think its an awesome album !
Come to Mama was absolutely a political song. day after this recent election i blared it on my speaker and made brownies while screaming along. we're talking the same old sh after all these years
Warning: there will be screaming!

React to Chromatica?!
You need to give ARTPOP another chance. It is by far some of her best work in terms of time and place and sound.
my fave album is ARTPOP
Artpop is pop perfection ❤

I've come to realize... every Gaga album after Born This Way needs to SIMMER... after a few years, they just hit different. (In a good way)

Thank you for this! I was on Reddit searching answers the other day lol

Hey girl is 100% one of the best on the album

I love this for you honestly, I had no idea how much this album moved folks! It’s very underrated and I’m ashamed I’m so late to hear it tbh

I cannot believe this album came out as long ago as it did. Joanne era was super special; she performed the Super Bowl halftime show during this era.
YOU GET IT 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Harlequin is a hidden gem for me! Didn't think I'd like it, but she did it again! Mother Monster amazes me!
Joanne was really a pivotal moment for The Lady in Gaga. ❤️🫶🏽

Please revisit ARTPOP.
Listen to CHROMATICA AND BORN THIS WAY!!🫶🏾
There’s a piano version of Joanne that was released separately that she made a music video for. I prefer it to the album version. It’s beautiful
Joanne may be sang on her Gaga’s father perspective
ARTPOP in 2024 will blow your mind.

Have you heard chromatica in full?
You need to give ARTPOP another chance. It is by far some of her best work in terms of time and place and sound.
