Oh, you know it! That's exactly how I feel. The first listenings it's not that I didn't like it but I was hyped by other songs. Now (too late I'm a afraid, tho it's never too late they say) I fell in love with this song. I think it may be of those songs that need more than once listening to make you fall. But I'm glad I finally fell :)

The song is about anxiety and dealing with it and if you listen to the lyrics you would understand what she means

If I had to guess "You've cut right through a thousand words for you" means that shes has said/done loads for this person but her anxiety about him has made it all meaningless and pointless.

Have you seen Nicky Byrne's lyrics last year? Even native speakers have the songs with Bad English, let alone foreigners.

OMG some people are being like "who sings about PAPER?!?!" It's a metaphor. Like in Demi Lovato's skyscraper. She wasn't actually singing about skyscrapers. The paper in this song has a metaphorical meaning.

Not even 200,000 views? I think this is one of the best entries. It does seem incredibly underrated, but she has a fantastic voice so maybe her Eurovision live performances will grab people's attention. I'm sure it won't do terribly with the juries because the song has a strong meaning and story - about something that millions of people can relate to.

Greeneyed, he basically means that Iceland is Iceland. Iceland either submits good songs that never make it or bad songs that never make it. It has come close twice, however.
Iceland also has no neighbors (which might be the much bigger reason), which puts it (and Australia) at a HUGE disadvantage. This means the songs they submit have to capture everyone's attention and not just the neighbors. Iceland doesn't always submit the best songs, too. I might be wrong.
Well, we do have a fairly tight buddy-buddy cozy thing going with our Nordic neighbours, in terms of Eurovision voting.

I just love how slowly the ESC is turning into an indie/alternative pop music contest.
How is it possible? Sweden, Australia, Poland and Armenia qualify and this masterpiece does not?!
I love our language and of course it would be fun to have it in Icelandic. But Svala originally wrote it in English and it was always meant to be in English. But because of the rules of the national final that the songs have to be in Icelandic she got Stefán Hilmarsson (Icelandic singer/ESC 1991) to write the Icelandic lyrics.
She has explained that the song is about dealing with difficulties and struggles in life whatever they may be. She has been very open about her battle with anxiety and it's about the relationship she has with herself, not a romantic one. Everyone interprets music differently though, that's the beauty of it.

Yes, I do know the metaphor. You obviously didn't understand the point of my comment. Since Katy Perry's song is legendary and she is using plastic bag as a metaphor I find it strange how many people find using paper as a metaphor silly. Interesting. As English and Icelandic versions of the song were released at the same time, it is virtually impossible to distinguish which was written as the original. Both seam very well produced and the English lyrics in most songs seam really good. Since I don't speak Icelandic, neither version of those songs seamed like a cheap translation (e.i. Albania last year). I am really interested in whether Hypnotized, Again, I'll Be Gone... were originally written in English or Icelandic. Either way, sounds really good.
Edward Reeves Svala has said so herself otherwise no one would know. I do think most of the songs were written in English and then translated to Icelandic.

She sort of got the same fate as the Norwegian song from last year called Icebreaker. After she performed, people called her princess and nordic queen. It seems as if Nordic kind of music except for Sweden manages to qualify. I loved this one too! Fantastic song! Really!

I have been watching Eurovision since it was broadcast in Bulgaria. That was in 2006. I haven't missed an edition since. Over the years, I watched with sadness in my heart as it became a circus and a field for the expression of everything but music. And I keep watching it because I have no choice. Because I still hope to hear a song like Svala's. I know that if there is one, it will never win first place. But it does not matter. Still worth it.
And after this year's fiasco, where I couldn't like a single song, I wanted to write that this is the most underestimated Eurovision song since 2006. And when I saw the comments, the first was this: "this is unbelievably underrated". This could not be more true!
This song had to win then. It could win every year if good music was properly judged by an audience and a jury.
I think this is the best song since 2006. I'm still playing it. And keep in mind that the song is not in my style at all. I'm a heavy metal fan!
