As a child I would head off to the field with Mum to eat tea with Dad. When I look back at what my Dad used to do at this time of year, it was simply amazing - he would start at 6:00am, milk 120 cows, have breakfast, sort out the beef animals, head off to cut barley, stop at 3:00pm for a snack, milk 120 cows, then head out to bale up the straw, stop for a quick tea, bring back in the bales and stack them in the shed before heading off to bed. He passed away 6 years ago, but everyday I think about him, absolute legend, real gentlemen and most of all, my hero.

If you know you know!!!! Cutting oats many year’s ago lay flat and growing in the ear 👂. Hateful year but we managed to cut all the corn at every direction that you could ever imagine. Combining is easy if you know how to set it up!!!! Back then it was manually adjusted. Yep it’s easier for you youngsters but you farm way way more acres than we did . 80%.
Ho Olly, regarding harvest time teas, when I was a boy about 4yr old, mum used to take my brother and I to have ,'fourses' in the harvest field with dad, we had sliced white bread sandwiches filled with tomato and salad cream, it was wonderful, dad was working a tractor drawn allis charmers 4 or 5ft cut combine, life was hard but great atb Gary
Hi Olly , I know you haven’t got them on , but I’m sure you’d pick that barley up easier with lifters . I never took mine off except for O S R . They made combining in laid crops a lot easier .

Damp straw will just build up on splitter and block rotors. We had one on our 570. Worked fine when conditions were good.

Hi Olly, if you paint your bale spike hi viz yellow and your fork lift forks hi via orange you won't waste time when you're looking for them, spikes yellow, forks orange, as tou say work smarter, not harder

Flipping straw over onto dry ground the way to do it. Have to do it with my hay every year due to always wet stubble that hay absorbs over night

Great vlog olly. Back in the 1970’s I drove a Class Matador and when we had a crop that was flat we used to fit lifting bars on the knife bed,could this help you in a flattened crop. Keep up the good work.
That’s the problem with big headers if the array gets wet. Splitter sounds a great idea as long as it doesn’t cause a blockage. Guess young people haven’t had the pain of screws in the finger so they don’t see the danger that comes with experience 😂😂

Hey Olly we made a swath splitter years ago we put it on and off with the forklift , but the first one dropped straw in the wheel marks behind the combine wasn't good made it to drop straw on the outside of combine tracks but then on a bank with damp straw the straw wouldn't slide down, ,how the baler manages with deep tramlines with controlled traffic I Don't know 🙆🙅
So American grain is absolutely soaked in squashed grasshopper guts and UK grain is soaked in squashed snail guts... hmmmm bread. 😁😣

Where your drier is and the intake channel,may of been a good idea to of installed a grain pit with elevator taking from the bottom.

An interesting thing recently discovered by scientists is that sunlight , or in particular the green part of it directly evaporates water , it does it in a totally different way to heating water up to turn it into a gas which requires all the molecular bonds to be broken , green sunlight turns whole groups of water molecules into a gas without breaking them thus requiring far less energy than heating it up , I find this really interesting because I always wondered how puddles dried up so fast , now I know
