@@Kai-zp4ir The OP said "1989". If I was able to ollie knee high before 1989, like most people I skated with, there is no telling what was done by pros.
"Vision Street Wear ☠ Psycho Skates 1988" street skaters doing kickflips among other things, and we better don't mention Rodney Mullen's part.
"Santa Cruz Speed freaks 1989" Handrails and wall rides, check Natas Kaupas and Eric Dressen "salad grind", Tom Knox part was recorded in about an hour and Mike Vallely's was way ahead of that time, just look at the board he was using.
Did you skate in the 80's? I first stepped on a board in the late 70's and still keep pushing and flippin' my board nowadays. My destroyed ankles do not allow much more though X)
Cool thing about Daewon is that nobody skates like him or can copy his style of skating. One of a kind!

Not many people can say their 1 of the "greatest of all time". But daewon song is truly 1 of the greatest technical skateboarders of all time alongside haslam and mullen.

I am 45 now and have been fortunate enough to see a lot of great skateboarders in my lifetime. There are great skaters and then there are legends and Daewon definitely is a legend. Watching him skate is like watching Picasso painting a masterpiece. Absolutely incredible!

It’s crazy that he we can see how much Daewon has aged… until he steps on the skateboard. Then he moves like he’s young again. It’s amazing how he’s still going strong.

Daewon's deca video was the first skate tape (on vhs) that I ever remember getting. I watched it over and over and over again. I would go out and rearrange picnic tables at my elementary school, ollie-ing off them and attempting to slide them (although being a kid, I could barely jump that high, let alone get a board up high enough). He has always killed it and been an inspiration to skaters, and it's amazing to see that he's not giving up anytime soon and still ripping just as hard as ever. Watching this, I am just in awe as I was when I was 8 or 10 or however many years old watching that deca video... how Daewon clearly shows his love of skating, his technicality and advancement in tricks, and refusal to accept "rules". Never stop skating Daewon... you'll always be number 1!!! 💯🛹🤟

Truly one of my favorites. when I used to skate, other skaters said I had a Daewon style. It made me feel so good to be compared to him even though I knew I wasn't even close. I probably should have stuck with it, but I gave up my 14 yrs for young love, and a different life. Now I'm doing my best Chad Muska impression, and trying to make music. I still skate once in a while but I'm nowhere near what i was, and the risk seems a little too risky at my age, soo I take it real easy.
Honestly skating life athletics are all things you should judge with your own ruler, no reason to hold up a measuring stick to someone else. Keep skating and enjoying yourself!
I hear you brother. I still love and support skateboarding. Will always near and dear to my heart. I still love getting on my board and cruising down the street 🛹 but I'm no where I use to be. Rodney vs Daewon Round 1 & 2 will always be my favorite skate video's. I miss seeing Rodney skate. I hope he still gets to skate but I know he has a really bad injury year's ago.

It’s amazing how music goes hand in hand with skating. It’s always been like an artistic expression where skating is like a dance. There is rhythm and timing and when it works it works like a beat. Songs skating style works so well with Alabama Shakes. This vid makes me want to grab my board and ride.

The amazing thing about Daewon is that he is clearly one of the best flat ground skaters ever but he rips transitions too. Oh and he's way too old to be this good! Definitely one of the greatest of all time.

Daewon has been one of my favorite skaters and still is Impressing me at my age! Also if you know his setup it will impress you even more! Never will there be another like him, ever! 💯!
I think his ankles are made of vibranium and jelly at once however that is possible! I rode his board one time meeting him at my home park. It was so loose that you can’t even believe anyone could ride it!

I'm in my 40's now and haven't skated for atleast a decade but I miss the freedom of just cruising around, scared to get injured and not being able to work. I've been real close to buying another deck a few times but just haven't pulled the trigger. I love every thing about skateboarding they were some of the best days of my life..
I remember the first time I saw Daewon Song was in an Almost free DVD I got with a skateboard magazine. I was really impressed by the tricks in his video part. Fast forward to now, seeing him landing those insane tricks, he still has the fire... he loves what he's doing no matter how old he is. I had to slow down the playback speed quite a few times to check those tricks... Jesus Christ these are tricks I've never seen before. He is indeed the GOAT!
