  • The northeast finally got its first snowstorm of the season. Join as we ride our ebikes in freezing temperatures and off-road in the snow.
    The onyx rcr has slick street tires and was having problems riding in these winter conditions.
    My custom 72 volt ebike has super moto tires and faired a lot better in the snowy weather.

    I rode in a snow blizzard 2 miles in Chicago, I had to get home and my storage was closed, I rode slow and with my feet down so I had better balance and didn’t fall I mainly rode in the middle of the street where the tire racks were plus I got a wider tire on a 27.5 inch front tire that got good traction and my rear huh motor is 1200 watt I made it in about 25 minutes

    If you get a Suron save some cash because you'll have to upgrade everything.I like them but l would only buy the frame and motor.

    Had some fun last winter riding my BBSHD full suspension bike in the snow ❄️. Crashed it in a ditch earlier in the summer breaking my collarbone pretty bad. Still healing ❤️‍🩹 so taking a pass on snow riding this winter. Stay safe!
    Sent in upload of my bike and the progression of each upgrade I’ve made to it. 👍

    Everyone is saying you need awd, but specifically, you gotta have front wheel throttle separate from rear throttle like how citizen cycle does on his custom ebike. Then you can use like 80% rear throttle 20% front throttle or whatever. And since hub motors w no gears, leave the electronic shifter for the front throttle at PAS 1 and the right throttle on PAS 2 hold them both down and youll be crusing w a good front to rear throttle ratio without thinking too hard?

    I bought a GoCity ebike that has 2" tires just because it was a bit light weight and easy for me to carry in bus and train. But now I feel 2" tires won't go well in snow, any insights please? has anyone tried biking on snow with 2"? it'll be short distances like local grocery mainly during winters.

    Interesting how many accidental advantages these ramshackle DIY bikes have over the flash looking premade ones. The heavier frame probably was causing the Onyx to give out.

    Fat Tires for bikes are like Snow tires for cars. Fat Tires are made for the snow and have awesome control in those conditions.

    Did you ever make a video or anything about other people's builds or is it still open to adding builds for you to do it? I love your content and hope you continue to share and make videos.

    😂
    There's no way I'd ride in the snow, you're just asking to slide out and low end on every turn.... LoL
    Edit: That's a cool idea to get us in on your videos.... That's awesome and I was thinking about starting a TH-cam channel and shooting a bunch of videos on my Razor Mx650 as I go from 48v 2000w to 72v 6000w, you might be getting a submission from me some time this spring. 😁

    Front hub motor would have came in handy
    Front hub and peddling would have gave you all wheel drive 😉

    • @MrDkgio
      @MrDkgio ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Front hub is just about unusable in the snow, all wheel drive pretty useless too, good rear wheel fat tyre bike is the way to go (lower psi try 25% lower to start). For extra traction wrapping nylon rope around drive wheel (or front and rear) will try to add link to show how good this is.
