My student bought this and brought it in. What a great piece of gear for only €375.
If you had told me this costs €1000 I would have believed it and still found the price acceptable.
The clean sound is out of this world and the drive is not bad at all. It handles pedals like a charm. Do yourself a favor and check out this amazing amp.

Looks like Thomann is really nailing it with their Harley Benton stuff !
Have this same amp for years, but branded "Golden Ton". It's my go-to combo and never let me down.
"Goldentone" was an old Australian amplifier brand. I have this amp as a Strauss SVC-30. Strauss was also an old Australian amp manufacturer.
I think what happened is all these are clones of clones. I love my Strauss, I find it takes pedals better than any other amp I've played. I'm pretty sure it's like a Laney VC-30. 3x12AX7 4xEL84. But I think it has some Fender and Vox DNA in there as well.
This amp he is demo-ing sounds exactly like my Strauss (except he leaves the bright switch on, too trbly for my taste). The panel and layout, the font - identical except mine is front-mounted.
I even use a Muff, the Dr.J, and two Jetter pedals LOL
I paid $300AUD.
I have owned two as "Strauss SVC30" (sold one to a friend and still have the other) and it's one of my favourite amps. Had it fully serviced and retubed, reverb tank upgraded and it absolutely sings.
Nice to see a guy that appreciates and tests amps with their clean settings. Many amps sound great when distorted,but fall way down on the clean settings.Great amp,great guitar,and a great player.Can't beat this !

Wow. That sounds great. Granted a PRS will sound pretty awesome through just about anything, but I get what the amp is adding. I'm pretty happy with my Egnater Tweaker 40, but this is very tempting.
I just found this video to find the amp is no longer sold. I would have bought it instantly!
I felt blown away totally by sound of this amp ! It kick ass very much and can compete with ANY fender amp with 1k, 2k, 3k price ! I saw in comments bellow they are no more available ! I dont know who is boss for sells, at Harley Benton but if this amp was selling like crazy and they discontinue to produce those beauties, they for sure should learn their business ! I am glad for buying second hand Bugera V5 (old models) and would like to have this Harley Benton also very much ! Once again ; this amp can easily compete with amps 10x times pricier ! :-)

That sounds great. Now if only I could find an affordable tube amp in the 30 watt range that has an effects loop. My plan is a wet/dry rig where I send the wet signal from a pedal in the loop of my Egnater Rebel 30 to the effect return of the second amp. I'm theory, this should eliminate the need for channel switching on both amps if I don't use pedals for my dirt. But in looking for something with both great cleans and dirt I'm case my theory is wrong.

Hey, great sounding amp there. It's sad that they don't sell them any more. At the same time the Golden Tons with the same name aren't available anymore. For me, and that's only my personal ear, the amp doesn't sound like the HRD at all (or maybe I'm going deaf) but a lot like the mentioned VC30 which is a totally under-appreciated Amp for everything that has to do with rock.
EytschPi42: Cant think of anything other than a VOX AC30. It has chickenhead knobs and the same tube types like an AC30: 12AX7 and EL84....
EL34 is a bad guess here - these tubes are used in amps with 100 Watt!

looks like a HRD but i recognise that sound and the control pannel its a Laney VC30 or a clone of it from the oem factory in a Hrd/Peavy Classic 30 style cab. For the money thats one hell of a Bargain,Btw great demo once again and congrats on your 5000 subs Hening :)

EL84 power tubes are common on Vox amps. Fender usually uses 6V6 or 6L6 power tubes. But their new bluesbreaker amps have EL84's. This amp sounds great. What brand speaker is in it?
I looked away quickly and didn't notice you put the pick in your mouth at 9.08 so i thought you put on some lipstick for your jazz playing. Real pretty!
I think the clean tone is where she really shines. Great sounding in all modes though.
I would like to know what the actual valves inside are.. and if its a class A construction. I think it could be a knock off on the classic Laney VC-30 which is an awesome amp. Especially clean and with pedals.
Are these similar to the Struass amps (Australian legacy but made in china) it looks similar and sounds in the same ballpark. I have never owned one but I played a nice Tokai Explorer (best gibson style guitar I had played feel wise and MIC so....) through one (their smaller EL84 model) and it sounded great if I had the money I would of grabbed the Strauss and the Explorer.

Yep. Rebranded as Strauss with a new distributor. They are made in China and distributed from Australia.

Very late response: name, place of manufacturing, amount of middlemen between factory and customer, amount of units being produced, quality of the components and of production itself, level of quality control. It all determines the end price.

This one is a PRS, but Harley Benton has the CST 24 thats in that same style. Just not us pretty as this one.
As for shipping to the US is different everytime. I heared of people within 2 weeks and people with 2 months.
Sehr informatives & unterhaltsames demo-video,ich suche nach einen kompackten,vielseitigen Röhrenamp,der nicht die Welt kostet und ordentlich Power hat.Eigentlich wollte ich mir ´nen Bugera oder Laney holen aber das Baby hier scheint ´ne echte Alternative zu sein,vor allem für den Preis.Der Clean-Channel klingt super & mit den entsprechenden Pedalen kann man damit auch ordentliches Heavy Zeug spielen.Das Teil ist grade auf meiner Liste ganz oben gelandet.

Yes, I think it would be great for blues. it's very defined. you might want to get a few different overdrives in front of it.

I thought I'd use the clean channel with a TS9 or TS7. I think it's idiotic that this amp is a limited edition, since most Harley Benton products are total.. well.. crap. I have a Harley Benton banjo and a steel guitar and the steel was a pile of crap until I took out the pots and caps and replaced them. This amp seems amazing compared to the other stuff they make. Like the acoustic bass I bought for a friend; the body was partly broken and some of the wood had chipped off.
I love your review but can I ask, are you commissioned by Thomann to do reviews of these products?
It seems like a lovely amp and I'll probably get it anyway but I always wondered that!

If I order one of these from Thomas will it get here and only run on 220. We only have110 here
they don’t make them anymore... and yes, you have to be careful about the voltages

Hey great review! I have the VOX AC30vr (hybrid tube thingy). It has served me very well, sounds great and keeps up with the drummer. Do you think this amp would be a step up since its full tube? I play clean/mildly dirty with loads of effects.

You can get them in Australia, they were branded as "Strauss" - then they went under for various reasons. Then they were re-re-branded as Strauss, again. Different distribution company now, I believe.

Strauss have a bunch of newer amps out. I got a really nice SVT-20 for $300

no, not noisy. that is just the room, the outlets and all the lights and video gear.

I think the Australian(-designed) Strauss "generic" Chinese amps (oxymoron much?) are from the same supplier, since the control panel and so on is so similar.
The Benton is a re-badged Strauss. Check out there web site.

Yes I have one and it's identical except for the top panel - mine is front mounted.
Best pedal platform I own, sounds much better than it does in this demo. He leaves the bright switch on.

Hey. Ich überleg schon ne weile auch bass zu lernen, und hab mal bei Thomann den Harley Benton JB-20 SB unter augen genommen. Bin am überlegen ihn zu kaufen, weil als Lernbass sieht der ja ganz ok aus. Jetzt wollt ich mal fragen wie die Verarbeitung und das Preis/Leistungsverhalten von Harley Benton ist. Auf Thomann werden die ja ganz schön gut bewertet..
Ich hatte schon lange keinen HB Bass mehr in der Hand... die waren mal sehr schlecht, aber ich glaube da hat sich was getan... neuer Lieferant oder so... mehr kann ich nicht sagen.

+Gabriel Isaac To be honest, there wasn't much difference between these and the even better Laney VC30, so while a great amp maybe wasn't cheap enough to beat the big name brands. Find a good Laney VC30 used and you're laughing...
..So you are saying that this amp is better than a ValveKing 112? or an Ibanez Wholetone?(bare in mind am referng to the crystal clean tones...and not talking only bout valve amps but amps with good clean in the same price range)
I don't know the Ibanez, but the Valveking (I have a Valveking Head) is not even in the same Universe.... the Vt30 clean tone is absolutely mind blowing!

Good question... I don't know the Vox. But I can tell you that this HB is A LOT of Bang for the Buck... I hardly think the Vox can compete with it.

You were right, it is really much better than the Vox ;) but I was wondering, what you think of the Harley Benton vs Bugera BC30? 'cause I find it hard to decide which one is better... I've tried them both and I might get one of these two...

Yes I have a Strauss SVC-30 combo and it is IDENTICAL to this amp. You have the head version.
I believe the SVC/SVH Strauss is based off a Laney VC30 yeah? VOX-ish.
