@@robo-suport_czrobofactory3116 Correct, Becuz after moulting the skin is very soft, which makes them easy targets So they stay in their burrow or somewhere enclosed till their skin gets hard
Oof i think anyone who owns a tarantula/is interested in the spider community knows that molting like this is very dangerous for the spider and could have ended up dying. Normally they go on their backs and push their molt up off of them. This way they could eadily rupture their abdomen or lose a leg or get stuck and eventually die
I was wondering about that and thought it looked wrong. I was pretty sure it was supposed to go on its back, but I haven't actually seen one molt yet. I just got my first T last week and I don't think it is anywhere near close to molting yet. I was curious what molting would look like and how long it would take. I had mantids a long time ago and lost a lot of them from cannibalism and then lost my last because I didn't know not to leave crickets in there during a molt and the cricket ate it. I felt pretty awful afterwards. I'm thinking about putting the molt in acrylic if it looks decent when she/he finally molts. How long should you wait before going in the cage to remove the molt? I've read a few articles and watched a few videos where they sex the T by observing the molt but all they said is that it can't be too old or dried out. I don't want to disturb him/her while he/she is still stressed out or soft from molting though.
The _adagio sostenuto_ part of moonlight sonata might have influenced a little though... I would've liked to see a bit after also for some reason, I would guess that this tarantula could start to walk then, idk. It might be better like this even though.
It's just a trade. Have a very resistant shell with no seams and many features which favor stealth, defence and hunting, but you have to replace it every 6 months. In many ways its better than other animals which have seamed shells or grow with them, causing some spots to be fragile and having no ability to repair it. If they lose a leg or another body part, they can develop another one and essentially reset when they molt. The only downside to it is they have to be careful where they do it (most things stay out of their nests, so theres a typically safe place) and if they are positioned poorly while hardening they get strange limbs (like inside a pill container, for example, their legs can harden bent)
Exoskeletons must suck, it looks like it takes srs effort to get that shit off, man, ten hours, that spider better hide somewhere safe while that shit's goin on haha.
Yes, it's the way they grow. Tarantulas have exoskeletons ("bones are on the outside, vs humans having them on the inside). Their new exoskeleton grows under the current one. Smaller tarantulas molt more often than larger ones as they grow more. They eat really well, until their bodies give them the signal that it's time to molt. They stop eating, become lethargic, and almost always burrough in their hides, even sealing off the entrance so it isn't disturbed. They then lay down a molt mat from silk, flip onto their backs, and then start pushing through their old exoskeleton. The carapace usually splits first on the old exoskeleton and the process takes anywhere from 15 minutes, to 8 hours. Smaller specimens take less time. When finished the tarantula will be a white color and as time goes on (~3 to 7 days), their colors start to come back in and their fangs darken and harden up. This is why Tarantula owners (yay me too lol) know NOT to introduce prey at this time because the tarantula is too weak at this time and will likely get chewed on itself. It's a very very taxing process for the tarantula and they will often eat some of the shed exoskeleton for a source of nutrients/hydration. What's left (sometimes all) of the exoskeleton is an exact replica of what the tarantula looked like before molting. Even the fangs are a part of it. You could easily scare someone by putting it down next to them. The last fun fact of the day that u guys may also not care about lol, is that during a molt the tarantula can regenerate lost limbs and even their fangs. I'm quite sure none of you own tarantulas as pets, but if you did and its molting, it is VERY important not to disturb it in any way, as it will most likely result in the Tarantula dying in this vulnerable state.
Aww. It’s all tired out, bless it. This is never a good idea unless the tarantula is totally OK with it, which is highly unlikely, here, but I kinda want to touch it now that it’s all soft. It’s so cute. I wanna protect it. XD
Nerfus So close but so far. Molting is not due to heat. Molting is the same thing as a human having growing pains. During the premolt a spider grows a brand new exoskeleton underneath its outer one, and fills inbetween the two with fluid. Eventually the tarantula will go into the actual molt process where it attempts to push itself out of the old exoskeleton. Its the way a tarantula, or any invertebrate, grows. Basically instead of having the same bones grow overtime like humans, it just grows brand new bones. The outside of a tarantula isnt skin its bone.
I was surprised at how quickly her hair grew in on her legs and then any hairy bits turned brown. Plus the scull covering and her newly molted brain the shapes and contours amazing.
Patrick Banks yeah it does, normally spiders will burrow and shut themselves in so predators cant get to them when they're molting and right after. They ususally come back out after a few weeks
That looks exhausting! I would be so tempted to ‘help’ which would be harmful..... I know they must be very vulnerable at this time but I do hope it isn’t painful.... not really in to creepy crawlers LOL but do find this fascinating.... and am glad he/she was in a safe environment.... hopefully that helps with what be a most stressful time.
the exoskeleton is quite tight around their body, and if its moved too quickly you could easily break off body parts and leave it injured until its next moult.

Cute kittens being born, people go awwww.
Spider sheds its exoskeleton, people go eeeew.
I find both events a rather amazing example of how life on this planet exists.
corvettez06usa I would go ew~ if I see a kitten being born. It's weird to say it's cute. And I know! It's horrifying.😫
Because spiders looks fucking terrifying, you expect people to think this ugly little shit looks cute?
How in the world would it not get eaten in the wild while going through this intense process?
Nearly all tarantulas live underground so they can shed it there. Their webs are designed to catch bugs on the floor like crickets or grasshoppers and beetles
Have a VERY good hiding spot! Like an underground tunnel the spiders make.

That was oddly beautiful yet disgusting at the same time. Nature in all it's wonder can be both. Great video.

This was an amazing video of this horribly strenuous process, but incredibly beautiful as it brings forth it's new "skin"! Thank you for taking the TIME to do it and sharing it with the rest of us! Dual thumbs up!
I see there are more spider fans out there. Good
They don't have skin only exoskeleton
My man just collapsed from exhaustion in the end. Good job, little guy 👍
Now let's all wait for that one guy who says he has a phobia of spiders but still chose to watch or that one person who says why the hell was I watching this or recommended to me. I'll wait, no worries.

Salmon Fish Coolio!
What a beautiful tarantula
Omg I have acne, let me just pull of my skin and have a new face
that's pretty much what molting is
I wish I could do that
Although it's somewhat painful and we don't have an exoskeleton lel
+Maija Evans Sorry but the spider pretty much pulled out his bones not his skin.
+Alex Krasikow more like both :P it's bones IS it's skin
Damn Imagine it runnning into predators like this. It’s like getting caught with your pants down
i think they dont hunt like this at all, but wait in their burrows until their exoskeleton grows back.
@@robo-suport_czrobofactory3116 Correct,
Becuz after moulting the skin is very soft, which makes them easy targets
So they stay in their burrow or somewhere enclosed till their skin gets hard
Oof i think anyone who owns a tarantula/is interested in the spider community knows that molting like this is very dangerous for the spider and could have ended up dying. Normally they go on their backs and push their molt up off of them. This way they could eadily rupture their abdomen or lose a leg or get stuck and eventually die
E Reynolds o poor baby!! why didnt he go upside down?
I thought it was weird she wasn't upside down.
Yup. Not ideal but also not a good idea to interrupt a molt in process.
Pull out game strong
XD
It needs a protein shake
You gotta add some more protein
Wow the color!!! This tarantula is so beautiful
it looks like it died. Damn, poor thing probably used up a lot of energy to get out of that thing.

I would've liked to see a bit after also for some reason, I would guess that this tarantula could start to walk then, idk. It might be better like this even though.

I don't understand how this process was favored by evolution. They are so vulnerable for many, many hours.
I feel something crawling on my arm, but there's nothing...
I poured gasoline on a tarantula and burned it
Thats called phobia XD not joking
I love how the trantula just lays down at the end of the video like they seen some shit and needs to process it
Exoskeletons must suck, it looks like it takes srs effort to get that shit off, man, ten hours, that spider better hide somewhere safe while that shit's goin on haha.
I used to have a gopher snake when I was a kid and I thought the same thing every time it shed. Just looks like a lot of energy.
evolution has it crap side and it's good side though :P
Like humans we have the smart brain, sadly we don't have gills, wings and crap
David Nguyen We may not have those yet they are greatly compensated with the inventions with the use of our smart brain.
Julius Segubre ya, soon they'll find a way for us to you know, gills n crap
Arraik Cruor if only humans can talk to evolution, so that way our gills doesn't dissapear when we were a fetus
This is truly amazing to see this
That's me when I have to get up for school
Theres some beauty into this, very nice.
As someone who hates spiders. I find this very beautiful.
I was originally here to watch a tarantula molt it's skin then I got lost in the music and started staring into space
I never knew tarantulas did this
Same
Chris Hinton me either lol
I think most animals with an exoskeleton do this

I think like ign or something
It also teaches us nature TAKES A LONG ASS TIME TO WORK.
Küsh_Lord Damn nature, you're scary.
+Helen Mavronichi yeah i know one look at u damn
Aww. It’s all tired out, bless it. This is never a good idea unless the tarantula is totally OK with it, which is highly unlikely, here, but I kinda want to touch it now that it’s all soft. It’s so cute. I wanna protect it. XD
Sarah Johnston exactly see you get it 😌 Protect the tarantula of death doom
U crazyy
Wtf is molting I’m confused
molting means its shedding its skin, basically it does that when its really hot and it grows new skin
What a beautiful video, the music is a nice touch. Gorgeous specimen too.
My cat plays with my rose hair tarantulas shell. He bats it around for hours.
That sounds really cute!
Discerning Daniel awh
That is disgusting but also probably entertaining to watch.
Probibly a bad idea... the sheds still have the barbed defensive hairs that can cause blindness and respiratory problems
Do you clean your house after that ? I sure as hell wouldnt want that hair all over my stuff
Imagine trying to remove a full body steel armor, but you had four arms and four legs
didn't wanna sleep anyway... for the rest of my life...
😂😂😂
I was surprised at how quickly her hair grew in on her legs and then any hairy bits turned brown. Plus the scull covering and her newly molted brain the shapes and contours amazing.
Wouldn't this make them extremely vulnerable in the wild? :/
Patrick Banks yeah it does, normally spiders will burrow and shut themselves in so predators cant get to them when they're molting and right after. They ususally come back out after a few weeks
Well, my eyes just went to hell
Daniel Row same
at least it looks cool
Spiders are in hell so that sucks
Daniel Row LoL
Creepy but fascinating
Is there a word for something that frightens you but at the same time fascinates you?
I hope the whole process is painless. poor guy seems so exhausted and powerless.
This is literally what it's like taking off skinny jeans lmao
Imagine taking off an entire skinny suit from your entire body
Damn spiders have a lot of energy
That looks exhausting! I would be so tempted to ‘help’ which would be harmful..... I know they must be very vulnerable at this time but I do hope it isn’t painful.... not really in to creepy crawlers LOL but do find this fascinating.... and am glad he/she was in a safe environment.... hopefully that helps with what be a most stressful time.
the exoskeleton is quite tight around their body, and if its moved too quickly you could easily break off body parts and leave it injured until its next moult.
I felt the same way watching it. Little spider looks tired.
the most dangerous time in a tarantula's life . she,s at the mercy of every predator not being able to defend herself
Now I'm exhausted. And itchy... so very itchy.
