My polygraph was not individual questions, it was “did you disclose all your information if you have ever committed a crime against a person?” We also aren’t allowed to do breathing controlled, automatic disqualification. You also can’t move at all of course. Clean slate, and failed, I didn’t lie and now I’m devastated. Went through college to get a degree too, of course, I have my personal opinions on the polygraph but I financially and emotionally feel devastated.

I feel you. I got disqualified due to controlled breathing during Poly because that’s just how I control my anxiety. The worst part is that the operator seemed to understand but I still failed.

This was the best analysis ever! I’m a nervous person just in general, and have a clean whistle record, minus one ticket. It’s just the little things I worry will affect my results. You did well explaining the concept of analytical thinking in relation to polygraphs. This makes me 80% less nervous

Good video. I took a polygraph last year as the last step of the process for my city’s department even though I told the truth. I was advised to breathe normal and to sit which I thought I was doing just fine. After that, I got in my head and way too nervous. Taking another polygraph in a few weeks for a new department and I’m even more nervous now.

  • @JoRu00-e2r

About ten years ago, when I was 16/17, I made a poor choice and got involved in shoplifting at a retail store while associating with the wrong crowd. The police sent me to jail, and my mother invested in an attorney. We were assured that the incident would not appear on my permanent record. Since then, I’ve relocated to another state for college and have worked diligently to turn my life around.
I’m now looking to apply for a position in law enforcement, and I’m concerned that this incident, despite being a juvenile mistake and supposedly not on my record, could disqualify me. Has anyone had experience with this situation, or could you provide advice on how it might impact my application? Additionally, how can I verify that my record is clear?
Lastly, if an investigator asks whether I have ever stolen anything in my life, should I mention that I was jailed for a few hours before my mom came to pick me up? Should I simply say 'yes,' or is it better to explain the whole situation, including the fact that I was locked up for a short time?

If it ask you or tells you, you need to explain write in N/A (Not Applicable). As for the forgetting a job on your resume that's not so much of a big deal as it is on the police questionnaire. This is why I push and guide everyone I work with to put all there attention into the preparation stage of getting hire. It is probably the most important part and makes getting hired way more likely. Hello, I have never been in the gym before, I'm in my 30's and got recruited by a police officer, I'm going to take my test next week.
My question is when I pass test, should I then start working out? It would be great to know in my workout what should I focus on, I'm physically fit, but not marathon running fit.

I know quite a few officers that did not get started until their forties. It seem that they were more in tune with themselves as they became officers.

      Mike,
It comes down to what you think in your head. If you get asked the question of have you ever stole anything and your stomach drops at the thought of answering, you will show a lie on the test if you enter say no. The questionnaire before hand gives you the chance to answer with explanations. So take a look at the hypothetical:
      Have you ever stole anything?
      Yes or No
Answer: UKN ------- Explanation: I once took candy from my grandmother without permission.
The question however is more likely to be worded as such:
As an adult have you ever stole anything of monetary value over $50?
      Hope this helps.

4:11 yeah I could be truthful. But I doubt you will pass you if admit to doing a crime in the pass. If anything, I feel like you will be arrested.

If you admit to murder than probably, but if it's in the past and time has went by. The only thing that matters is not disclosing.

@@armogantraining7164 let’s say I admit that a year ago I drove my car while having a buzz from drinking 🍺 . But I never got caught, and made back home with no problem. It was a one time thing, and I honestly felt bad for doing it.
What would happened there? Would I fail the test? Or would I fail, and get a DUI for confessing?

Damn I put in the polygraph paperwork that I stole my sisters clothes and makeup (other than that, I’ve never stolen). Am I gonna fail?
