Louis Edmonds' wit made Roger one of the shows best characters during its early days. He took a bad guy that, on paper, was nothing really to write home about and made him entertaining and complex. Roger was originally supposed to die during this arc via struggling with Vicki on Widow's Hill,, but the writers and Dan Curtis realized what a gem they had with Edmonds and had to stretch out the pen mystery so they could figure out a way to keep the character on the show. In this light, Roger is a sort of proto Barnabas Collins. And thank god they kept Edmonds. The 1795 arc would not have any of the pathos it has without him playing Joshua Collins.
Bill is very forceful! Bill wouldn't have lasted a day if he'd been going on to Barnabas like he has been over the past few episodes in those first few months of his emergence from the coffin...
Roger has THE best lines!
and he does deliver them in style!

Interesting that he was supposed to be killed off early on in the show. I never knew that.
Mr. Griner, I congratulate you on your knowledge of Dark Shadows. You showed me some things I didn't know.
Frank Schofield and Louis Edmonds acting their asses off in this one

he's just scared of his own hide
The intensity is killing me!! Eeek hahahahaha
