Thanks Christopher, I hope to have this down as a foundation for the workshop later this month
Your videos make the world a better place.
Thank you very much Andy! 😀 your kindness makes the world a better place!! 🎶
Man, it was fun and don’t forget about our kids workshop too!! I’m really glad you were there for all of it.
great lesson, Christopher! This gets me out of the basic chop chop chop that I do on basically every song! cheers.
Excellent lesson! You explained the nuts and bolts really well. Thank you.
Can’t wait to watch this tomorrow I’m too tired tonight 😭, glad to hear it went well!! I’ve been practicing hard!
That was quite a lesson. A lot to think about. Thank you very much!
@@ChrisHenryVideos I may need to connect with you for a few lessons, but I need to wait a bit. Thanks!
Hey Chris, I have a question for you if you don'r mind addressing it. When you are playing a gig or picking either familiar material or something new to you, are you conceptualizing playing over changes using stock licks like you describe in these videos? Does your mind organize your playing on the fly in a similar way to how you teach, or are you surprising yourself with what you might play in any given situation? Just kind of curious about this. Thanks.
Excellent questions Dwight, thanks. I like to think on a first pass, I’m going for a lot of melody in which case I’m thinking about Desiree voicing/register - where I want to find it and what kind of tone/energy would be best. If I don’t know the melody or I get a second go so well, then I’ll usually fall back to stock/hot licks or experiment with different tremolo. For the melody, I might say my mind does organize it similarly, but I am often surprised by what comes out! (wonderfully good or bad, or bizarrely neutral/static). Very welcome! I appreciate the dialog 😀🎶
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
These lessons have helped me so so much! Saw you play West Dakota Rose with Billy Strings and was one of the best performances I’ve had the honor of seeing, and never would have imagined that same dude down there shredding would end up teaching me how to really progress with bluegrass mandolin!
@@dylanwilcox5635 I love that! Thanks for sharing Dylan! That night was big medicine for me - was buzzing for days! Keep on it! 😀🎶
