I agree with most of what your saying but I believe Flus gave up the Defensive calling last year and his game management improved. I also think that all these radio spots and podcasts the players have need to stop. They might be great players but they don’t know when to STFU. All it does is undermine everything the team is trying to accomplish and give the so called sports broadcasters fodder to spew uneducated opinions. Present company excluded.
Totally agree. His lack of situational awareness was also on display in a previous game when the team was in an obvious 2 point conversion situation and he sent the extra point unit out only to have to burn a crucial timeout in order to switch back to the offensive unit after someone pointed out his mistake to him. What’s also troubling to me is his apparent lack of character in his stubborn refusals to acknowledge mistakes that are obvious to all. I guess you could say that’s another case of his being unaware of his situation.
Ultimately, this is Poles failure…the building blocks are not fitting the team mission and goals will not be met. Fire Flus and history repeats…Williams starts over new HC and OC, only Poles keeps his job to try again.

Eberflus is a nice guy, he would make a great coach at the college level. He needs the seasoning in college ball as a HC to compete in the NFL with guys like Andy Reid. He should have learned situational football some where along the way but didn't. The evidence is right in front of everyone. There is no sugarcoating his bad situational awareness. He will last the year and will be gone along with the OC. Johnson might want to come here, Belichick wants more action. This was always the year of learning how to win and not about playoffs. Eberflus had to stick around. The McCaskey's are not cut throats and their kind warmheartedness (we are talking about you Virginia) took the chance on him. That is over now and we can get this train back on track. Virginia - when you get around to picking the next HC - please take a vacation with your family and let POLES pick his own coach. He certainly has earned it.
flus is the BEST HC the bears have had - maybe ever. i can’t believe people wanna ditch him for a few botched games. he’s had to endure 2 years and over 30 starts of justin fields. tomlin benched fields after 6 games. that’s how awful fields is. now he has to deal with a rookie qb that’s also been awful at times. in his 3 loses this year the bears have scored 14,15 & 16 points. that’s on the OC and QB. with an average qb the bears make the playoffs last year and are 7-0 this year. flus is far from perfect but he has some amazing qualities - great DC - great at judging talent - plays young guys. - allows players to develop - is a defensive coach that wants a dynamic offense - unlike guys like lovie smith or wanstad if you can get ben johnson then perhaps you move on but not for some rookie HC with no track record. unlike 99% of former bears coaches, flus will get rehired as a DC immediately and be a top 10 coordinator. fix the Oline. maybe fire the OC. let caleb develop. don’t ditch flus until another year. if anything flus has given his coaches and players too much leeway.

In fact, he doubled Down on his poor decisions to give up 13 yards and not take TO. He always talks about ‘watching the tape’ and learning from mistakes, then correcting them. If he doesn’t take accountability, what message does that send to the team?! I have little faith in Flus as a HC moving forward.
One of the things Flus had going for him was the locker room. You saw during Hard Knocks that Flus does what is in the best interests of his players, and they appreciate that. But, if that affinity starts to crack and players start questioning his decisions then maybe a change is on the way.

I agree to a point. The play before was more important than the hail mary. Situational awareness needed to be better but a very fine detailed point that may not be true. The way that hail Mary ended would have been good from the 35. The truth is ,Swifty, when a one in a hundred lucky play works it really hurts. But those plays happen when you're prepared and set up and do everything just right. The fact that the knee jerk reaction from you and many others is the truly sad part. That's not a collapse it's an unfortunate outcome.

KB and JJ are captians and should have noticed they were not ready for that last play. But spot on with the second to last play.....should have been ready for the sideline throw.

It's time to consider either Washington or Waldron for HC as an answer to replace flus & see if most if not all assistant coaches will away. Otherwise bring in detroit's OC Ben Johnson next year. Making Waldron HC gives Caleb stability on offense & if Washington accepts DC role with play calling defense. I said fFus needed to over see the game & evaluate game situations for calls, time out & making adjustments before half time and end of game critical decisions. So it's time to change! If the players get the Bears to the playoffs, my current belief is Flus will cost the team a win by not managing a key moment. The not calling a time out when you have three still burns my butt.
This team is struggling especially on offense either because of coaching or because of player personnel. If Poles doesn’t fire Flus, then he’s admitting the problem is personnel and he’s to blame. So either he fire Flus, or somebody fire him. To be honest they can all go. I’m ready for a fresh start.
It truly is amazing how Eberflus has no idea how bad his decision was on that 2nd to last play and stood by his call. The Kamer play was horrible not because it failed but because it was called in that situation; the offense was struggling and Bears were trailing and needed a TD desperately. To make matters worse, Roschon has a perfect performance history in that situation. Sorry dude, but Waldon's call was idiotic as well. They are two of a kind.
I never felt good about flushing as HC. Every time we had meltdowns from coaching I’ve brushed it off because of the defense playing good and the culture change. Now the culture is in question so it’s no reason to keep him. The defense should be ok regardless.

Flus said he needs a qb that can perform and ger wins in the 4th quarter. Caleb did that and his failures as a coach in the 4th quarter shows clearly how ineffective he is when it matters most.

It’s like Martellus Bennett said, this franchise is so focused on the past to keep us from ever thinking about the future. It literally felt like some bullshit Rudy type a call back. I don't want to hear crap about the last few years when the Bears were in a rebuild. They are 4-3 with a rookie QB who is starting to get a feel for playing QB in the NFL. Give Flus a damn break. I was as pissed off as any of you but it's the same crap from some fans anytime they lose, "fire this guy, fire that guy, sell the team, I'm switching teams" and so on and so on. Shit gets old. Whenever I hear the phrase, a players coach, aka, a coach the players love, I cringe. Players want to win. If they are winning, the players don’t care if their coach is hard on them. I don’t care if the players love their coach during preseason. They want a competent leader who helps the team achieve success.
I saw on FS1 that Green Bay has the 7th best odds to win the Super Bowl. That my frients is coaching. It’s not Malik Willis or Jordan Love. Lions ranked 2nd and Vikings 8th. Bears 16th. Coaching.

flus was the only reason they were in the game. it could have been 24-0 by half. the pass rush still isn’t great. and caleb was awful. 35 passing yards in 3 quarters. yikes. flus kept us in the game with his play calling. he is actually a difference maker as a coach. spread the word.

Folks, I am all for positivity. But we also need to be honest and not sugarcoat things. The offense has looked terrible from all aspects all year long. The O line, the play calling, Caleb missing open receivers, no run game, penalties at bad times, etc. It's the coach's job to get the team ready and put them in position to win. This team still looks lost on the offensive side of the ball. The Bears still look like a joke. We can blame the Hail Mary on a defensive breakdown all we want, but if the coach had the offense on track at any point in the first half, the team never would have been in that position to begin with. The offense is trash, and it's the coach's fault. This needs to be fixed. I hate negativity but we do have to be honest.
I think he has to go. When you've got guys out there like Ben Johnson who wanted the bear's job, and is killing it right now with the Lions, and add into the fact that then we wouldn't have to worry about Caleb having to learn a new offense every time the coordinator sucks. I share your analysis of coach lack of awareness. I cannot add to your statements because I am extremely disappointed and have lost faith in Flus and may come across as irate. I hate the fact that he can’t seem to understand the situation especially when his defense is on the field to long and they can’t run the ball, you have Roshon, Khalil, and Swift and all they do is rely on gadget plays. When the Bears are matched up against great teams, Flus looks a deer in headlights.

Washington actually could have gotten another 10-15 and attempted a long FG but time might have ran out if they attempted a longer pass. But no. We were NOT defending against that. Why in the hell would Bear fanatics/media want Ben Johnson what, as an OC? Definitely not HC as he has absolutely NO experience at any level. We've suffered with 3 inexperienced HC's. No more rolling dice or 'hope' or 'thoughts and prayers' for our next HC. We need an energetic, offensive-minded HC but not too old with HC experience like Flores, etc. HC is a difficult job to balance. Would we want Flux to be involved in our offense? Hell, no!

Flus took accountability, but the media says he didn’t. The play before the Hail Mary could have been different, but the way it played out Noah Brown is still easily scoring from the 15 yd line.
The failure to close out games that the Bears should have won has to rest on the coaches! The lack of decisive leadership is serious.

If the players get the Bears to the playoffs, my current belief is Flus will cost the team a win by not managing a key moment. The not calling a time out when you have three still burns my butt.
This team is struggling especially on offense either because of coaching or because of player personnel. If Poles doesn’t fire Flus, then he’s admitting the problem is personnel and he’s to blame. So either he fire Flus, or somebody fire him. To be honest they can all go. I’m ready for a fresh start.
It truly is amazing how Eberflus has no idea how bad his decision was on that 2nd to last play and stood by his call. The Kamer play was horrible not because it failed but because it was called in that situation; the offense was struggling and Bears were trailing and needed a TD desperately. To make matters worse, Roschon has a perfect performance history in that situation. Sorry dude, but Waldon's call was idiotic as well. They are two of a kind.
I never felt good about flushing as HC. Every time we had meltdowns from coaching I’ve brushed it off because of the defense playing good and the culture change. Now the culture is in question so it’s no reason to keep him. The defense should be ok regardless.

Flus said he needs a qb that can perform and ger wins in the 4th quarter. Caleb did that and his failures as a coach in the 4th quarter shows clearly how ineffective he is when it matters most.

If Flus would have had a couple guys up to defend the sideline and Washington went somewhat deep on that play and the receiver broke a tackle or juked a guy for a TD then everyone would be bitching saying stuff like "why would you have guys up to defend a 10-15 yard pass?" The odds of that happening are slim, I get it, but so is a hail mary. The ONLY reason the Bears were in this game is because Flus (down TWO starters in the secondary) called a great defensive game allowing one of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL to 12 points. I'll say it again, on the road held one of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL to TWELVE points until the prayer at the end. I don't want to hear crap about the last few years when the Bears were in a rebuild. They are 4-3 with a rookie QB who is starting to get a feel for playing QB in the NFL. Give Flus a damn break. I was as pissed off as any of you but it's the same crap from some fans anytime they lose, "fire this guy, fire that guy, sell the team, I'm switching teams" and so on and so on. Shit gets old. Give this team some time to figure it all out,which I'm confident they will, it makes it that much sweeter when it happens. Be patient, great things are coming WITH this coaching staff. Whenever I hear the phrase, a players coach, aka, a coach the players love, I cringe. Players want to win. If they are winning, the players don’t care if their coach is hard on them. I don’t care if the players love their coach during preseason. They want a competent leader who helps the team achieve success.

Meanwhile chicago legend, jim harbaugh didbnt get interviewed by the bears, despite him having dominated in both the nfl and in college. His team is 4-3 with a rookie wr playing X and a couple dusty rbs off the scrap heap playing for the league minimum.salaries... he's 5-4 and top 5 in the afc in point differential at +41 and harbaugh is only 7 weeks into the gig. flus was the only reason they were in the game. it could have been 24-0 by half. the pass rush still isn’t great. and caleb was awful. 35 passing yards in 3 quarters. yikes.

Folks, I am all for positivity. But we also need to be honest and not sugarcoat things. The offense has looked terrible from all aspects all year long. The O line, the play calling, Caleb missing open receivers, no run game, penalties at bad times, etc. It's the coach's job to get the team ready and put them in position to win. This team still looks lost on the offensive side of the ball. The Bears still look like a joke. We can blame the Hail Mary on a defensive breakdown all we want, but if the coach had the offense on track at any point in the first half, the team never would have been in that position to begin with. The offense is trash, and it's the coach's fault. This needs to be fixed. I hate negativity but we do have to be honest.
I think he has to go. When you've got guys out there like Ben Johnson who wanted the bear's job, and is killing it right now with the Lions, and add into the fact that then we wouldn't have to worry about Caleb having to learn a new offense every time the coordinator sucks. He could suck as a head coach, but that could happen with anybody. Situational awareness is such a big thing when you get into the playoffs. So if your head coach isn't the one who can lead you to a super bowl, he ain't it.

I share your analysis of coach lack of awareness. I cannot add to your statements because I am extremely disappointed and have lost faith in Flus and may come across as irate. I hate the fact that he can’t seem to understand the situation especially when his defense is on the field to long and they can’t run the ball, you have Roshon, Khalil, and Swift and all they do is rely on gadget plays. When the Bears are matched up against great teams, Flus looks a deer in headlights.
Do you think it's possible they were defending against a possible FG attempt on the second to last play? And they were more concerned about that than a hail mary attempt.
We were up just 3 at that point. And worried about FG on last play not second to last play.

Why in the hell would Bear fanatics/media want Ben Johnson what, as an OC? Definitely not HC as he has absolutely NO experience at any level. We've suffered with 3 inexperienced HC's. No more rolling dice or 'hope' or 'thoughts and prayers' for our next HC. We need an energetic, offensive-minded HC but not too old with HC experience like Flores, etc. HC is a difficult job to balance. Would we want Flux to be involved in our offense? Hell, no!
