Important side note, and I know this is old, but with Catholicism you never worship saints. You revere them. It's considered a major sin to worship anyone other than God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit. Santa Muerte is a folk saint, but she's still treated like a saint, so no one worships her, they revere her instead.

In it's place is a bunch of pictures of the actors from the show.
When Walt says “Half million in cash.” It reminds me of a part of a book we read about the Holocaust. There was a very Christian lady hiding Jews, she offered the investigating SS officer tea and cookies. They chatted and he loved her pleasant demeanor, then he asked about the whereabouts of some Jewish people. She said “I’m hiding them in my basement.” and the SS guy laughed and left. The community of people who smuggled Jews in that area always tried to keep her away from investigators, because she fully refused to lie.

Depending on the context, distributing and dealing pot was hugely lucrative. A lot of the big drug gangs in Ireland began dealing pot, which was imported from Amsterdam and other places in Europe in the early 90s. They were making millions. Heroin was coming on stream in the 80s, though, so that quickly took over.
The "doing it for my family" mantra is obviously supposed to be the lie that Walt tells himself to rationalize things, but I don't think it can be argued that his family isn't deeply important to him. He's definitely reckless and oblivious when it comes to taking their happiness into consideration, as well as when it come to considering more distant, abstract threats to their safety like the fact that he's putting himself on the radar for so many dangerous people that would think nothing of harming them to get to him. But, when it comes to immediate, tangible threats to the lives of his family (and Jesse), of the sort that he can't possibly rationalize away or blind himself to, he pretty reliable will risk or sacrifice everything to save them. Pride is Walt's real vice, not greed. He doesn't really care about anything the money can buy him, he just cares about it as a symbol of his accomplishment. Spending that money on his family really is the point of it, but with the big asterisk that it has to be him providing for his family, and he can't just be happy with the fact that his family is being provided for. Without his family, the money really does mean almost nothing to him. After all, we know from season 1 that, if it weren't for Skyler and Walt Jr.'s insistence, he almost certainly would not be bothering to pursue chemo and radiation therapy.
Walt asked how much money from Hank’s bust was, so he was clearly interested in it before he even got hit with cancer. Besides, Walt’s choices and ambitions were entirely his own. Nobody forced him or blackmailed him.

Its always interesting to see People react to Walt and his decision to let Jane die cause i have a very different perspective on that whole situation. First, i think it was Jessie´s fault that she died cause he brought her back into Drugs. Instead of making the decision to follow her path cause he loves her he decided to ignore it and brought her in. Second, when Walt brought the Money to Jessie´s House she threatened him that he cant be sure if she/they will never ever blackmail him again. In that Moment you have to decide if you can live with the knowledge that she can destroy you and your whole Family whenever she wants. She might even blackmail you later on for Money without Jessie´s knowledge. They might even break up and she still could blackmail Walt. Not saying Walt is a saint but letting her die was a very logical decision for him.

She took the drugs after her father begging her not too she knew she could die and something you guys missed is they both would have died and walt likely saved Jesse. So Walt being a genius made a cold calculated assessment and likely saved Jesse in the process. If she didnt do those drugs and forced walt to be there to black mail him then she would not have been in that situation in the first place. Jesse also started doing drugs and let his girl that he so loved know that he was gonna do it which he knew was a temptation. It was never gonna end well for them and Walt knew that. Why is there no responsibility on the drug addict. She was clean and sober and doing well until Jessie moved in. He gave her the crystal meth. She then gave him the heroin. I’m not saying Walter was right, but he’s not the only one responsible.

They're crawling to "lower themselves before God". Such "crawling" it's a tradition in some Christian churches and other faiths. An altar besides to honor some saint etc, is also where you ask the saint (or Madonna etc) for a favor. They asked for success in taking their revenge on Heisenberg, that's why they put there the picture of him (to "show" the saint).
Walt was responsible for Jane's death but it isn't reasonable to blame him for the crash. That would be like saying if Combo hadn't been shot then Jesse doesn't relapse and Jane doesn't relapse and Walt can't let her die. So the crash is the fault of the kid who shot Combo. We are only responsible for things for which we are the proximate cause.

Not to say Jane didn't done a lot herself that led to that situation (talking Jesse into taking Heroin, blackmailing Walt), but in the end, in that situation, it was Walts active decision to let her die. I binged this show in a matter of days. Couldn't imagine having to wait a week or a year between episodes. Not really interested in other tv shows, but I keep looking.
It got more and more painful because the quality of this show grew exponentially. So there was never time where you felt neutral or cold after a season ended. Or even an episode.

It really is the opposite. Jane rented the place to Jesse, knowing he was in the drug business (she said herself she knew from the beginning). She started the relationship with Jesse. She decided to not only stay with Jesse when he strongly asked her to leave before smoking meth, she had the great idea to "up the game" by actively talking Jesse into taking heroin. And she herself got greedy when she heard about the money Walt owned Jesse and thought it was a good idea to blackmail and taunt Walt. And with that amount of money at hand to spend on drugs, it would probably been weeks until they both would have killed themself. That were all her own decisions, as an adult who was clean for 18 month.

If anything, she was abad influence on him.

This episode shows a juxtaposition between Jesse and Walt in how they evaluate their responsibility for the harms they've caused. Jesse admits fault, and takes ownership of the responsibility "I'm the bad guy." Whereas Walt tries to scapegoat, rationalize, justify, e.t.c to weasel out of the blame "I blame the government." Or his speech at the school, e.t.c. Jesse at least has a code of honor. Which in a way makes him less of a bad guy, despite his apparent flaws that he doesn't try to hide. Walt however, has no code, no honor, only selfish ambition. Which makes him the actual bad guy despite his surface level false persona as the good guy. They're polar opposites. Jesse, with nothing to hide, is outwardly a less than reputable member of society with no false display of virtue, but on the inside he's a good kid. Walter goes through the trouble to *appear* like the model citizen on the outside and will defend his reputation and virtue signal, but on the inside he's a monster.

Walter didn't intend to kill Jane. You as the viewer saw Jane explain to Jesse to not lay on his back while using h. Walter knows how to make drugs, but nothing about using them. Walt went to the bar after Jane and Jesse blackmailed him for the money, where he spoke to Jane's dad about never giving up on loved one's and their addiction. Walt was looking for the money to keep them from further funding their addiction and ultimately overdosing when Jane rolled onto her back. Walt was scared and didn't know what to do in the situation.
Lol what, it's very clear he understood what was happening and chose not to stop it. Literally earlier in the episode they're talking about putting Holly on her side so she doesn't choke on her vomit. And you can see the whole thought process in Bryan Cranston's performance, he unambiguously goes to save her on instinct, but then stops, reconsiders, and decides not to.
His intention was never for so many people to die, but it is absolutely 100% his fault. He let Jane die which is a form for murder, and that led to something even worse happening. Consequences
Right. Walt is absolutely not wrong to blame the government/the authorities in charge of ATC. Walt was one piece of the puzzle, and the main reason Jane is dead, but not the main piece of the puzzle when it comes to the plane crash. Janes dad had a tragic loss in his family and should never been allowed to returned to work without a proper and thorough check if he is mentally stable enough to do such a responsible job. What would have been the difference if Jane would have overdosed a week later with all that money to spend on drugs? Would we blame Jane than postmortem for the air crash victims? I guess not. Or if she would just had an accident? Her dad would have the same trauma and wouldn't been able to work in his mental state. There is enough stuff to blame Walt for, just think about the kid from "Peekaboo", those are victims of what he willingly decided to do.

Another chain in that domino event was Jane's dad convincing him to go back to the apartment, when he told Walt in the bar that family is all that matters and you can't give up on them (Jesse). Does he have any part to play? I don't know. But I think why he didn't attempt to save her afterwards was also because he felt that was the best thing for Jesse which it eventually was, because he got clean. It was also the best thing for him given the blackmail from her. It's not morally right, but it's objectively reasonable. It's still not justified, but saying he killed her, I think is a bit of a stretch. She chose to do drugs knowing the risks and consequences.

Depending on the context, distributing and dealing pot was hugely lucrative. A lot of the big drug gangs in Ireland began dealing pot, which was imported from Amsterdam and other places in Europe in the early 90s. They were making millions. Heroin was coming on stream in the 80s, though, so that quickly took over.
The "doing it for my family" mantra is obviously supposed to be the lie that Walt tells himself to rationalize things, but I don't think it can be argued that his family isn't deeply important to him. He's definitely reckless and oblivious when it comes to taking their happiness into consideration, as well as when it come to considering more distant, abstract threats to their safety like the fact that he's putting himself on the radar for so many dangerous people that would think nothing of harming them to get to him. But, when it comes to immediate, tangible threats to the lives of his family (and Jesse), of the sort that he can't possibly rationalize away or blind himself to, he pretty reliable will risk or sacrifice everything to save them.
Pride is Walt's real vice, not greed. He doesn't really care about anything the money can buy him, he just cares about it as a symbol of his accomplishment. Spending that money on his family really is the point of it, but with the big asterisk that it has to be him providing for his family, and he can't just be happy with the fact that his family is being provided for. Without his family, the money really does mean almost nothing to him. After all, we know from season 1 that, if it weren't for Skyler and Walt Jr.'s insistence, he almost certainly would not be bothering to pursue chemo and radiation therapy.
Hank is the good guy version of Mike.
They're both good guys. They just operate on opposite sides of the law.
Walter's boredom and downright disgust at having to drudge through those auditorium speeches speaks volumes about him.
All of this can be traced back to Hank offering to take Walt on a ride along in the beginning. So blame Hank
Walt asked how much money from Hank’s bust was, so he was clearly interested in it before he even got hit with cancer.
Besides, Walt’s choices and ambitions were entirely his own. Nobody forced him or blackmailed him.

Jesse just by chance picked that townhouse and started a relationship with Jane, who made the decision to relapse. Could Skylar have confronted him sooner? Sure, but why is it her responsibility to expect her school-teacher husband of manufacturing meth? She didn't choose that life, he did, and then didn't tell her about it. Jesse wouldn't have been in that townhouse if he hadn't gotten completely disowned by his parents, and hadn't had the cash he made from selling meth with Walt, both of which were much less likely to happen if he hadn't gotten into business with Walt. Jimmy prodded Walt into doing bigger business... but isn't that exactly what Walt had been trying to do this whole time? They originally wanted to be Tuco's supplier. This is the same arrangement, just with a much more stable businessman.
No, Walt is the driver here. Does everyone else share some responsibility? To varying degrees, I can agree with that, but ultimately the buck stops with Walt. He set all the pieces moving.
Its always interesting to see People react to Walt and his decision to let Jane die cause i have a very different perspective on that whole situation. First, i think it was Jessie´s fault that she died cause he brought her back into Drugs. Instead of making the decision to follow her path cause he loves her he decided to ignore it and brought her in. Second, when Walt brought the Money to Jessie´s House she threatened him that he cant be sure if she/they will never ever blackmail him again. In that Moment you have to decide if you can live with the knowledge that she can destroy you and your whole Family whenever she wants. She might even blackmail you later on for Money without Jessie´s knowledge. They might even break up and she still could blackmail Walt.
Not saying Walt is a saint but letting her die was a very logical decision for him.

She took the drugs after her father begging her not too she knew she could die and something you guys missed is they both would have died and walt likely saved Jesse. This woman just blackmailed him into giving them 400k you think they were gonna take that money and by a house? They would be dead in 2 days because they would just keep doing coke and heroine. So Walt being a genius made a cold calculated assessment and likely saved Jesse in the process. If she didnt do those drugs and forced walt to be there to black mail him then she would not have been in that situation in the first place. Jesse also started doing drugs and let his girl that he so loved know that he was gonna do it which he knew was a temptation. It was never gonna end well for them and Walt knew that. He could have saved her but im not blaming him for letting someone he didnt know die who just threatened to destroy his life and she would have died anyway and her father knew that.

Why is there no responsibility on the drug addict. She was clean and sober and doing well until Jessie moved in. He gave her the crystal meth. She then gave him the heroin. I’m not saying Walter was right, but he’s not the only one responsible.

They're crawling to "lower themselves before God". Such "crawling" it's a tradition in some Christian churches and other faiths. An altar besides to honor some saint etc, is also where you ask the saint (or Madonna etc) for a favor. They asked for success in taking their revenge on Heisenberg, that's why they put there the picture of him (to "show" the saint).
Walt was responsible for Jane's death but it isn't reasonable to blame him for the crash. That would be like saying if Combo hadn't been shot then Jesse doesn't relapse and Jane doesn't relapse and Walt can't let her die. So the crash is the fault of the kid who shot Combo. We are only responsible for things for which we are the proximate cause.
How exactly is Walt responsible for Jane's death? People need to take responsibility for their own actions, everyone.

Not to say Jane didn't done a lot herself that led to that situation (talking Jesse into taking Heroin, blackmailing Walt), but in the end, in that situation, it was Walts active decision to let her die. I binged this show in a matter of days. Couldn't imagine having to wait a week or a year between episodes. Not really interested in other tv shows, but I keep looking.
It got more and more painful because the quality of this show grew exponentially. So there was never time where you felt neutral or cold after a season ended. Or even an episode.
Trust me, they had it down to a science; we were FIENDING at the end of each episode...let alone season or half season finale. I honestly miss how much satisfaction it felt to start each episode to see how things would play out

Jesse is 💯 responsible for Jane's death, he got her back on drugs and he brought Walt into her life
It really is the opposite. Jane rented the place to Jesse, knowing he was in the drug business (she said herself she knew from the beginning). She started the relationship with Jesse. She decided to not only stay with Jesse when he strongly asked her to leave before smoking meth, she had the great idea to "up the game" by actively talking Jesse into taking heroin. And she herself got greedy when she heard about the money Walt owned Jesse and thought it was a good idea to blackmail and taunt Walt. And with that amount of money at hand to spend on drugs, it would probably been weeks until they both would have killed themself.
That were all her own decisions, as an adult who was clean for 18 month.

But when it comes to his relationship with Jane, pretty much all of it, esp. the things that led to her death, were her own choices. Jesse didn't forced or influenced her to make that choices at all. If anything, she was abad influence on him.

Sorry. I have to disagree. The majority of what happens in this show goes back to Walt. That's what makes the show so brilliant. Everything can be traced back to his decision to cook that first batch.
He didn't make Jane OD. He did turn her onto her back so she would die when she OD'd, after the episode was very explicit in showing us that she was conscientious about putting herself and Jesse in physical positions to NOT do that.
Look in the end I agree heroin addicts are at high risk of deaths of their own making, including Jane, but good lord the lengths you guys will go to deny what Walt OBVIOUSLY did right there in the scene haha.

This episode shows a juxtaposition between Jesse and Walt in how they evaluate their responsibility for the harms they've caused. Jesse admits fault, and takes ownership of the responsibility "I'm the bad guy." Whereas Walt tries to scapegoat, rationalize, justify, e.t.c to weasel out of the blame "I blame the government." Or his speech at the school, e.t.c.
Jesse at least has a code of honor. Which in a way makes him less of a bad guy, despite his apparent flaws that he doesn't try to hide. Walt however, has no code, no honor, only selfish ambition. Which makes him the actual bad guy despite his surface level false persona as the good guy.
They're polar opposites. Jesse, with nothing to hide, is outwardly a less than reputable member of society with no false display of virtue, but on the inside he's a good kid. Walter goes through the trouble to *appear* like the model citizen on the outside and will defend his reputation and virtue signal, but on the inside he's a monster.
You’ll see as the show progresses, in his own very sick way, Walt really does care for Jesse.
Jesse will has the darkest story arc out of whole series.

He actually did. Re watch it. His initial shake of Jesse rolled her over and that's why they sleep on their side while doing heroin. He was not paying attention to her.

Walter didn't intend to kill Jane. You as the viewer saw Jane explain to Jesse to not lay on his back while using h. Walter knows how to make drugs, but nothing about using them.
Walt went to the bar after Jane and Jesse blackmailed him for the money, where he spoke to Jane's dad about never giving up on loved one's and their addiction.
Walt was looking for the money to keep them from further funding their addiction and ultimately overdosing when Jane rolled onto her back.
Walt was scared and didn't know what to do in the situation.
Lol what, it's very clear he understood what was happening and chose not to stop it. Literally earlier in the episode they're talking about putting Holly on her side so she doesn't choke on her vomit. And you can see the whole thought process in Bryan Cranston's performance, he unambiguously goes to save her on instinct, but then stops, reconsiders, and decides not to.

His intention was never for so many people to die, but it is absolutely 100% his fault. He let Jane die which is a form for murder, and that led to something even worse happening.

Right. Walt is absolutely not wrong to blame the government/the authorities in charge of ATC. Walt was one piece of the puzzle, and the main reason Jane is dead, but not the main piece of the puzzle when it comes to the plane crash.
Janes dad had a tragic loss in his family and should never been allowed to returned to work without a proper and thorough check if he is mentally stable enough to do such a responsible job.
What would have been the difference if Jane would have overdosed a week later with all that money to spend on drugs? Would we blame Jane than postmortem for the air crash victims? I guess not. Or if she would just had an accident? Her dad would have the same trauma and wouldn't been able to work in his mental state.
There is enough stuff to blame Walt for, just think about the kid from "Peekaboo", those are victims of what he willingly decided to do.

In truth you could say that Walt, Jesse and Jane herself all carry some responsibility for her death. And whoever we might think is at fault doesn't matter so much as the fact that Walt obviously feels guilty about her death and the chain of events that followed.

Another chain in that domino event was Jane's dad convincing him to go back to the apartment, when he told Walt in the bar that family is all that matters and you can't give up on them (Jesse). Does he have any part to play? I don't know. But I think why he didn't attempt to save her afterwards was also because he felt that was the best thing for Jesse which it eventually was, because he got clean. It was also the best thing for him given the blackmail from her. It's not morally right, but it's objectively reasonable. It's still not justified, but saying he killed her, I think is a bit of a stretch. She chose to do drugs knowing the risks and consequences.
For real though, they're even blaming walt for a thing that he has no control of 😂 ya guys really annoying. See the thing is Jesse lost his friend because they were careless, he lost Jane because Jane was an addict, Jane's death was not one single bit on Walt, it was completely on her, maybe Jesse for making her relapse.
