+Robert Calkins yes. the entire track is like an internal conflict between chance and what future chance could potentially become. it's a debate regarding his authenticity in the rap game, whether he'll stay honest or he'll let the fame change his style. best displayed when he says "hey, you, get off my couch, you don't know me stay the fuck out my mouth" as current chance reminds himself to stay true and stay away from the possible personal corruption that could arise with fame, a la elton john, an acclaimed artist that doesn't write his own music.
but thats just my interpretation of the situation.

It's ironic that Chance would say that I would "want him pennin' heartbreak and sadly (he) can't write nothin" He spoke every word I needed to hear in this song. My dad passed away last August and since I've been searching for some closure. Chance gave it to me with this song and the lyrics he spoke. Rest in peace, Jack Allan Kinner. I'll see you when I see you.
