I agree 100%. I had a few of the "traditional" art toys in the past, but it wasn't until I visited Japan and saw the amazing stuff that artists are doing with sofubi these days that I became obsessed. I think Mirock Toy was the one that really appealed to me at first, but I also love Moucoyama, Wonder Goblin and others.
You're right buddy, nothing is wrong with esthetics art toys but now you prefer detailed pieces. Good, go for it. I think the most important thing is to find and feel the artist's soul in their artworks. Art is in a permanent evolution.
Thank you for you'r videos! Very informative, entertaining and charming. I had found it difficult to navigate the process of learning about/making art toys, you're good teacher. Cheers!
I like Headlock Studio Toys. I have only one, but I would like to get more. They have a good variation of toys, some of them more interesting than others. Like kaws ;)
I disagree! KAWS art (toy + streetart) has it‘s soul, but over the years it became to mainstream, overhyped by masses and this was the moment it loses it particularities. Like in every modern process: as something is called a trend or hype, the trend is already over. Well, of course- or better KAWS- not for the mainstream consumers, they just begin with their worship. This is what might called ‚boring‘ in this video but losing it‘s soul? not really
I believe it ultimately comes down to one's perception. Personally, when I look at KAWS' work, I see a repetitive and seemingly empty design, I myself lack a connection to the character or charm of Mickey Mouse, I never liked him. It feels like there are countless artists producing very similar content with the same style. It's not unlike how many pop stars seem to follow a formulaic approach to their music, or how black metal logos often share striking similarities. To me, KAWS' art appears devoid of substance and soul is just gneric, but as I said is just matter of perception, you can have your own opinion. @@music303nerd
sorry son, i couldn’t finish the video. too complicated for me. have you seen the remote control? i can’t hear the TV. what do you mean it’s on full volume? what? can’t hear you… love… your mom

Me or the Toys? 😉
@artfabula how sofubi became a copy cat art rather than an artists expression.
That is true for Art Toys and Sofubi in general, but there are som excellent examples of real works of art. A lot of them.
