Sadly ,the fact is the public has very little regard for " Truth and consequences " anymore! From one side of their mouth they talk about "Christianity" then they idolize the cross! They believe the trinity , immortal soul, hellfire, Roman Holidays and traditions! People have a love of pleasures and fun and no regard for actual truth. Then ,, they turn and heckle those who do. The time we live in !

David, good point. We lie to children about santa, easter bunny, tooth ferrie. THEN we expect them to believe the TRUTH about Christ??

I’ve been studying this subject for years; what I struggle to find though, is clear chronological narrative of the canonization process of Christmas and how pagan traditions were adopted into Christianity. Perhaps this is something to think about for next year.

So much of the teachings of Hebrew scripture has two sides. The “word” is Dabar, or “The verb דבר (dabar) means to formalize: to deliberately establish and pronounce something's name or definition. This causes the thing to become "real" in the mind of whoever understands this word, name or definition,”. Yet, these same three letters can be Deber. From Strongs concordance comes, “The Hebrew word "deber" primarily refers to a pestilence or plague, often seen as a divine judgment or a form of punishment from God. It is used in the context of widespread disease or calamity that affects large populations, typically as a consequence of disobedience or sin.”
Same three Hebrew letters, yet came bring blessings or cursings.
I am not surprised that what causes the angels to sing might also cause some trouble.
    Thanks for your great work.

In case anyone wants to know the real birth of Christ? Zachariah's course was in June! So Christ was conceived in December but was born around 9 months later. No one could survive a winter in a Manger like that.

Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus or the Bible, it’s a pagan date, pagan traditions adopted and “christianized” by the Roman Church and later by Protestant churches as well.

    • @Dave01Rhodes
      @Dave01Rhodes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Common misconception. Christmas is December 25th because Christians calculated Jesus’s date of conception to March 25th.
They reasoned this by figuring John the Baptist’s conception date had to be in late August, since that’s when Zechariah would be home from his duties in the temple. Then they coordinate that with when Elizabeth finds out Mary is pregnant in Luke 1, putting the date in late March.
IIRC they settled on the 25th exactly because the date of Jesus’s crucifixion was calculated to be March 25th, and tradition says that important historical figures die on the same date they were born (or in this case, conceived) if that date is otherwise unknown.
As for Christmas traditions, most of them have a Christian origin. Exchanging gifts goes back to the Wise Men in Matthew. The Christmas Tree has seemingly Christian origins in ~1600s Germany. While there are many pagan rituals involving trees, there are none I’m aware of that line up with cutting down a small evergreen tree, setting it up indoors, and decorating it.
Much like Easter, the paganicity of Christmas is far overblown.

Hidden truth??? I mean Bart titles his books and talks using controversial words. I'm not sure whether monetary compensation for his materials motivates him to do so. He couldn't properly recall Benjamin Franklin's fictional figure correctly. I believe he didn't forge it and it's an honest mistake. Yet could he say definitley something is forged or intentional that had been wirten thousands years ago?

Hi Dr. B, will you be discussing Nicholas of Damascus...?? Scholars and PHD Historians of the Roman Empire and the New Testament say he is Herod the Greats court historian. Interestingly he never documented anything about the slaughter of the innocents, even as he was a contemporary of the time. Philo of Alexandria too. Why is that.? Many of these PHD trained historians are mythicists, something you disagree on. One, and I won't name names, has repeatedly said, the study of New Testament scholarship is a mess, everyone has a different OPINION on everything. Tabor thinks this, Goodacre thinks that, etc etc, So I agree in terms of the evidence. It certainly seems scant. But like you've said, anything can be reconciled. Perhaps some day the Herculean library in Pompeii will shed truth on all of it.

Not his B-day plus isn’t lying a sin. So why do adults tell their kids some fat guy in a red suit is going to give them presents (if their good) only to find out they were lied to when they got older, now these older kids think it’s ok to lie. Plus the three kings or Magi were not at his birth they showed up about two years later to visit the child in the house

      Like the jingle bell song?
      Dashing through the snow
      In a one-horse open slay
      O'er the fields we go
      Laughing all the way
      Bells on bobtails ring
      Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
      A slaying song tonight
Sounds like a dude with a sword riding on a horse chopping people heads off is the jingle bell chorus.
      The songs sounds about killing.

It’s a mix of barbarian “yellow” human sacrifices: the candles represent people tied on trees while the tree is set ablaze and the Roman Saturnalia cultus of a 5% discounte on cost of living event in the overarching Neolithic Magna mater cult. Religion is where we keep the beasts…we bred them dumb for fieldwork. They circularly do dumb seet over and over again. Reality is not supposed to be misery - but here we are - and we need some more and stronger covid. That’s my xmas wish.
