Colin Ok i feel like there's more nuance to this version, the lyrics sound more urgent and haunting i like when the drums/horns come back in in the end and she repeats "but what will we do when we're sober?" like she gives up thinking about it, and keeps dancing
not to write an essay but i love the horns in song as well as in this performance specifically, she's mentioned before that she wanted them to sound triumphant and i really think they nailed that in this performance, especially since they're almost mellow and not as powerful as maybe the studio version

That episode was so interesting, I was thinking about it too while listening to this right now, so different from all the layers of production they put in the album version, both astoundingly beautiful!

Nothing makes me happier than finding a new Lorde performance. And I love Sober because it was the opening act in Melodrama, so reminds me of the thousands of screaming fans as Lorde comes on after the dancers.
The fact that she can sing without autotune or other customization is a huge plus. I’ve seen her live and she has one of the purest singing voice i‘ve heard, just like lady gaga.
Lorde, I did not know that this place under my skin existed where you constantly hit me with your voice. But it is more than just your voice that you put into your songs.
