After watching this episode it makes more sense why Reiner, Annie, and Bertolt took an interest in Eren back when they were cadets. They weren’t masterminding the entire scenario, they were kids trying whatever they thought could give them a chance to complete their mission and go home.
When they found out Eren was from Shiganshina, Bertolt took pity on him because he ruined his life, so he helped him with the ODM gear (before anyone knew his equipment was sabotaged by Shadis).
Annie respected his desire to go against the system he was forced into, which she wanted to escape from, so she taught him some of her fighting style.
Reiner saw a version of his past self and tried to build him up the way he had wanted someone to do for him back then.
So while they made plans to capture the Founding Titan they befriended him instead by accident, and the moment they saw him emerge from his Titan form in Trost they realized they were helping the person who hated them the most become a more powerful enemy to them

Nice catch...filmbuff also theorized that birthhole's weird sleeping positions are the result of the nightmares he is having being ridden by guilt

In season 2 episode 6 "Warrior", when Reiner and Berthold first reveal themselves to be who they are.. Reiner even says "What did we know? We were just kids". Now you really get to see what he meant and everything they went through. Gives this series incredible rewatch value actually

Bertholdt took the story of the man who hanged himself and made it his backstory, when Eren and Armin asked him and Reiner where they came from (early in Season 1) 🤔
You made an excellent observation about how they grew up, Reiner and his friends, the propaganda/brainwashing.
Very good comparison between Eren with his friends and Reiner with his friends - they all grew up in captivity more or less, Eren behind the walls and Reiner behind a fence/much smaller wall.
It's really messed up, how doomed to fail their mission was from the very start, with Marcel getting eaten so soon by Ymir. Reiner taking the reins was incredible to see, even more so with how easily Annie overpowered him at the start.
Finally understanding Reiner and not just him but Bertholdt and Annie too, why they were so desperate to accomplish their mission - it really makes you realize how little you knew back in season 2, when they revealed they're titans/traitors. It's also so easy to pick sides when you only know one half of the story.
What a powerful moment, seeing Reiner about to pull the trigger only to realize he needs to keep going forward, for Falco, Gabi and the rest of the recruits.
The same story, from different perspectives - very well said, Magy!

I still think it's pretty interesting if you think about who has held the Colossal Titan in this series.. two young men who are soft spoken, sweet and not aggressive at all pretty much. Maybe they hold that power rightfully so.. as someone who was more aggressive or not as intelligent as Berthold and Armin would use the power stupidly and cause mayhem everywhere.. Still.. kind of sad in a way.

Kalian harus pastikan kesehatan mental kalian baik baik saja untuk menyaksikan seluruh episode di season 4 sampai akhir !. Karena Seluruh episode di Season terakhir sangat tidak baik bagi kesehatan Mental.
I'm always a bit pissed when they save on the animation budget by omitting important manga panels, and this ep is one of the worst offenders. Eg. Annie stepping on a bug is meant to be a direct callback to how she steps on Squad Levi. Or when Berthold breaks down the wall you see them looking down on the Eren trio staring up at them, , and the entire Shingansina attack is shown from their POV (not just reused animation).
Pls watch faster. Like about 2-3 series per time
