Nice digestible length video. First video I've seen about adjusting the banking pins.Coolness. 13:46 - Some watches don't have the the jewels lined up. Like the Slava 2428 and the Pin Lever escapements like Mickey mouse watches
Setting a watch in beat visually-it’s more coincidental that the pallet fork is centered between the banking pins than by design. A better visual guide is to look at where the leading edge of the escape wheel tooth is resting on the impulse face of the pallet stone. The point on the escape wheel tooth should be centered on the impulse face of the pallet stone when at rest. Setting banking pins. Ideally, the banking pins should be adjusted so the impulse pin enters the fork centered, then pallet stones adjusted for locking depth. On a pallet fork with stones set from the factory, we can adjust the banking pins so that the locking depth on the escape wheel tooth is 1/3 the width of the pallet stone. These techniques are detailed in Fried’s Watch Repaierer’s Manual.
Thanks Sonny. I did do some reading in my many books and also asked the gang at the Ottawa watch club at lunch. The lock and drop need to be assessed as the pallet fork releases the impulse jewel and hits the banking pin. Then a piece of paper the width of the hair spring needs to be put between the banking pin and the impulse due at that moment to provide the right gap.

Good luck time graphing pin pallet watches
Correct. Thanks for the feed back on the movement that differ

Thanks. I read this as well, but decided it would be too complex for most
Henry B Fried The watch repairers Manual replacing a pallet jewel pages 200-210 covers pallet jewel and relationship to banking pins.
