Dude, Wink Martindale is like a game show icon, just like Bill Cullen! I love both, as I grew up watching both either in new games or their mutual classic game shows! Thanks for putting this brilliant video together!
Wink was a deejay in the '50s and had a spoken-word Top 10 hit called "Deck Of Cards" before his lengthy game show career. How appropriate that so many of his shows involved gambling and cards!
Wink Martindale was my hero as a child -- ('til I was about 11 years old!) My favorite shows he did, were: Tic-Tac-Dough Headline Chasers, Bumper Stumpers, and, Debt.
On the "Mother-in-Laws" pilot, Sandy Baron had recently starred in NBC's sitcom, HEY, LANDLORD!, and eventually played Jerry's parents' neighbor, Jack Klompus, on SEINFELD.
It feels weird that Wink Martindale is famous for so many game shows, but I haven't seen any of them. Maybe I should start with Tic Tac Dough and Gambit.
Tic Tac Dough was his longest running show, but he was always working. Beyond that, if you had to describe a protyotypical game show host, Wink hits all of the tropes. Tall, handsome, clear, confident voice, but with a slight radio DJ vibe, and his name is Wink. You couldn't create a more perfect host in a lab. The really great thing is that you never hear a bad word about him, and he truly loves his artform. So much so, that he's basically a historian of game shows, and has brought so many of them to to a new audience on TH-cam.
@@newstarcadefan Correction -- Tic Tac Dough was only on CBS for 2 months. Interestingly enough, the syndicated version debuted only 2 1/2 weeks after the CBS run ended.
@@mitchellries256 I do, too. I think he shoulda stuck around. Had he done so, I think the show could have gone on for another year or two. But then again, there was also the shakeup behind the scenes with Barry & Enright Productions after Jack Barry's death in 1984, so who knows? Such a shame, as I always loved anything Jack Barry and Dan Enright produced.
Interesting, the 1st show that Wink Martindale did well.........they spelled his last name right, but the 1st is wrong 🤔 Win Martindale?!?!? That is wrong
There is an actual channel called Wink's Vault that Mr. Martindale runs. I think he would like to talk to this channel's owner about how to handle this and other videos like it.
Wink claimed that executives at NBC at the time thought the name Wink sounded "too juvenile". Thank goodness he went back to the name he had already been known for for some time.
6:34, TIC TAC DOUGH
Man's a legend.
My Favorite Wink Martindale Game Shows, are TIC TAC DOUGH, HIGH ROLLERS, and TRIVIAL PURSUIT
@6:34 The Winker's most famous game show opening of them all!!!
9:42, HIGH ROLLERS
I watched Wink Martindale as a kid mainly Tic tac Dough.
I did too. I even had a suit, that whenever I wore it, I would say that I looked like him!
Me too!!
Same. Loved that show.
Wink Martindale: A true classic & A true legend
Stumbled across this, great to see people loved him.
4:43 Do NOT adjust your set!

Remember me? I’m Wink Emcee!
Yeah, it’s yet another “ambush game show” from the early 2010’s
Wink Martindale, was, is, and always will be a legend!!! Gambit, Tic Tac Dough and Debt was his best work IMO

I like all of his outfits in every game show.
Anyone who don't visit it, follow his TH-cam channel. Great stuff!
Never heard of Banko before.
Banko was a pilot from sometime in the mid to late 80's that, unfortunately, didn't sell.
"Wink-martindale the disc-jockey @ los-angeles's krla where casey-kasem & bob-eubanks made their names".
They missing the K in winks name
He only went by Win in his first game show gig or two.
"Before he met lt.thom-mckee on tic tac dough wink-martindale hosted what's this song".

Wink Martindale Is A Great Game Show Host!
Wonder who or why they thought it was good idea to change his name from Wink to Win on what's this song.
I should have read through the comments lol.
Headline chasers an American version of Headline challenge 🤔
It's a shame he only hosted the morning shows, sometimes being upgraded to evening
Honestly, I actually enjoyed Debt, it actually was a shame it was cancelled because the target audience wasn't what Lifetime anticipated.
newstarcadefan I liked Debt too. If GSN decided to bring it back I'd watch it again.
Honestly, Debt was one of the three that let's face it made lifetime. Along with Supermarket Sweep, and Shop Til you drop.
@@newstarcadefan I totally agree!
I agree, I want some Debt episodes. Yesterday was Wink Martindale birthday.
I wish Debt was still on, too. Some people in this world are still in debt to this very day and they need Wink to help them out.

"Tic Tac Dough" was from CBS.
Yes, though after a year, it went into Syndication. The CBS years are actually quite hard to find if anything.
@@newstarcadefan Correction -- Tic Tac Dough was only on CBS for 2 months. Interestingly enough, the syndicated version debuted only 2 1/2 weeks after the CBS run ended.
I know Wink wanted to pursue other projects but I think leaving Tic Tac Dough may have been a mistake.

He didn't start going by Wink until sometime in the late 60's or early 70's.
"Debt" was never seen here in Canada.
What a total flippin' bummer, some of the Debt episodes are uploaded here on TH-cam!
Could you make some videos for Peter Tomarken, Monty Hall, and Pat Sajak?

That first show the announcer was wrong!! It's Wink Martindale and not Win Martindale!!
Henry Birtcher he went by Win instead of Wink for a stretch in the 60s for some reason.
Wink claimed that executives at NBC at the time thought the name Wink sounded "too juvenile". Thank goodness he went back to the name he had already been known for for some time.
His real first name is Winston. That’s where Wink becomes Win.
