The US marine core couldn't tie the Royal Marines boot laces. You're comparing a trek over hard ground to marsh land also. I thank the US for the help but you have no idea the stuff the Royal Marines have done, esp Four Five commando.

I couldn’t imagine doing this 30 Miler and neither could most US Marines. My full respect goes to the Royal Marines and the US Marines. The big difference is that the Royal Marines are ELITE. @@JustAnotherArmyVet In UK only DEVGRU and CAG would be classed as Tier 1 SF. as you can walk in off the street and apply to be a SEAL ranger marine etc. Only SAS and SBS are tier 1 here the equivalent of your Tier 1s and they cross train a lot. Royal Marines are naval infantry elite and paras are green army elite, in America you'd class them as special forces, we don't. So SAS SBS CAG DEVGRU are clubs you can't just walk into from street. There's a tougher course with fewer operatives than UKSF here, called ML2 Commandos who go barely recognised and don't receive the pay of SF. Then there's E squadron, check them out

@@JustAnotherArmyVetno problems, Royal Marines who wanted to apply for UKSF, could only go to SBS, until the late 1990s and green army wishing to apply for UKSF were allowed only SAS until the 1990s too and selection was different for each UKSF. It was primarily 70% paratroopers who made up the SAS, but any green army regiment soldier with at least 3 years experience could try for SAS too. Nowadays, the Royal Marines make up 40% of all UKSF and there is army guys in SBS. This broadened the skillset in both the SAS n SBS. There are much fewer SBS operatives though, but the SAS has four sabre squadrons and each has a Boat Troop who spends lots of time cross training with SBS at Poole (SBS base), so this boosts numbers in SBS. The SAS boat troopers do more of the Air work and the SBS do more of the diving necessary. You lose your rank from your old regiment if you pass selection, the entrance rank for SAS is trooper and for SBS is swimmer canoeist. Dean Stotts podcast on here is interesting, he was green army but went SBS. So any part of the military, RAF, ROYAL NAVY, ARMY can apply for either tier 1 unit here, even a submariner. The other difference here is, we will deploy UKSF onto our streets if serious issues arise and this has happened many times. You use Feds, ATF and Police SWAT. If CAG DEVGRU SBS or SAS were deployed for Waco, they'd have easily dealt with it.

The 30 miler is only the culmilation of different tests over the test week..Endurence cse, Tarzan/assault cse, 9 mile speed march, all having to be completed on time, (1 second over and you do it the next day) and after 6 mths intense training the body is already knackered. The thing ppl miss is these are all raw recruits, straight from civvy street..Your special forces are all trained soldiers with yrs of experience b4 they start thier cse so never equate the both..
