Years ago before the bridge, that spot had an large pipe travelling underwater from one side of the river to the other and was famous for catching big Barra! Lot's of fishing articles written about it in the past! Cheers
Excellent vid mate, great to see someone explaining things correctly and showing techniques ect….this will definitely help a young one or someone less experienced who has never caught a barra, hopefully they’ll get amongst a few…and that’s whats it all about folks 👍
Theres a resident big bullshark that lives there now. Saw him there last night, could only pull up a few queenfish. The barras dont bit when the bullshark is cruising around.
Got to love the old taxman. We haven’t seen one there yet but that doesn’t surprise me that there would be 1 sniffing around. Haven’t tried this spot at night for a while now, always had better success during the day. Thanks for watching mate 😎
Hey mate, was just wondering what braid you’s use? Looks like tasline with it being white?? How do you find it holds up with abrasion resistance around the rocks and snags?
@bdadventuresnq yeah sorry mate meant the tide. Looks pretty low though. I've been there a few times but catch brim. A good jack at times if I'm lucky.
@@bdadventuresnqI did fish in that little area 2 months ago so the tied could of changed or some fish got lost there now I don’t know if it’s just the bait but I use prawn and shrimp and minnows😅
Seriously you think a cold water fish lives in the Ross River. Whitebait in Townsville are you sure. My friends from Bondi come here to catch anything but Whitebait. But being Whitebait enthusiasts travel to NZ each season for Whitebait
Dosnt really make much sense when you say you can catch a Barra land based, when you have legit sat there in a boat fishing an know the area from looking at the sounder.. you can do that just about anywhere, all you gotta do is just stand on a mud bank or in the mangroves of a river an throw where you know there is Barra.. and yes it’s a well known spot, but instead of 5 people fishing it on a weekend there will be 25. And yes most people won’t catch a Barra. But it just shows the power of a TH-cam video..
WTF, So you wouldn't do what Dean did? check out an area and think Hmmmm, I can do a land base session here!!!!! Everyone fishes there, I see this spot being fished nearly every day. No biggie or secret spot. And yes, the power of U tube. We can teach those that want to learn......
Maybe should fish there and be spoon fed its what all the all the flogs do right fish flogged out places and leave all their rubbish behind? Loose lips sink ships any rational folk wouldn't give up their spots.. Social media isnt a good thing whats lucrative should stay lucrative. X doesn't mark the spot 😅
Said it then did it....all on record. Legend

Extant vid man
Not bad mate, I have got a few there as well.
It's just knowing when to go.
No big secret....
Thanks mate! You’re not wrong there. About 10 people fishing the spot when I left.

@@Jtforlife178 we do use tasline mate. It holds up really well in tight country. Won’t be changing braid anytime soon
What did ya do to upgrade the hook up
We upgrade to a 6/0 gamakatsu
what tides you recommend?
Run out mate
What tide was that
On the run out mate, can’t remember exactly what the tide was for that day
