Aside from the testing machine, this is yet another thing that is easy to rebuild but will cost you thousands. Great thorough video! I have to rebuild my 1984 JD BHL 500C HYD pump soon, and I can't find a video but I'm not paying anyone to do it for me, that's for sure...
@@jimmycricket5366 Rookie mistake. You don't want to use brass. If a shaving of that brass comes off, then it would be in the pump, and kill it. The hammer was perfect. I don't know who needs to hear this, but the bearing race is MUCH harder material than that hammer, and therefore won't dent.
@@Titan-vi7vh If you hit it wrong you might get a sliver of brass coming off otherwise make one out of mild steel which is a lot softer than bearing steel. By the way it is still possible to dent or distort a harder metal with a slightly softer one if you give it a blow with the hammer being made of the sightly softer material.

I changed so many of those pumps where I work you wouldn't believe. It's not a problem with the pumps It's the operators not doing their job checking the fluid level and changing filters 😅 great pumps

I’m impressed by the efficiency of the motions. It’s obviously not your first time. Forgive me if I’m mistaken but you consistently put the adjustable side of the wrench on the side away from the movement which I was taught would ruin the tool and often the bolt head. Did I have that backward?
trick is getting all the metal chips out of machine after a failure.. Shoes on pistons should be replaced general practice.I did Rexroth and Kawasaki pumps myself in shop . Still going . Bronze in oil tell tale shoe failure. Disaster when filings chips circulate through a large excavator. Nice work Thanks

Axial piston, variable displacement, pressure compensated ? done a few rexroths in the middle of the night in an emergency. Good to watch someone who does them regularly.
Soft jaws, if you have a main stream branded vise they are probably available thru its manufacturer, like the wiltons in the video you can get in brass, aluminum, rubber, plastic, all kinds. There are also universal clip on soft jaws that just fit 4”,5” whatever size jaws ya got available super cheap on eBay but ya get what ya pay for both ways.
I would honestly like to know how many of the people in the comments section have jobs, tools, are on TH-cam or/and follow their own advice while working on the clock doing the same work to the same type of equipment for years on end and **know** how/what/when/where and why presses work! Why did you replace the whole endcap? Also why use red loctite when proper torque specs will ensure the component does not walk. Also you never measured the piston shoes, were they damaged?
What no lapping machine to dress the piston shoes or flatten the bottom of the piston block? This type of eaton pump looks like Dynapower had a love child with a Hydromatik. Former hydrostatic mechanic here, (80”s thru 90”s) my how things have changed!
Hey what's the model on this pump? I've done a lot of C pumps and positive displacement's, Diaphragms, and a couple of ram pumps - but this is a different assembly than I've seen. If you still update awesome!

Normally it'd take longer this guy is master of his trade but most shops that repair anything from cars to these pumps will charge you book hours even if it was finished early

A. Diaz I have been rebuilding /repairing hydrostatic components for 50 plus years. I would challenge you to remove those case bolts without a cheater. If a 6 point socket is used there is no danger of damage. This guy obviously has done this a few times. He knows what he is doing.

ALSO, i will gladly accept your challenge of not using a cheater pipe. A quick hammer strike on combination wrench will usually get the bolt loose.

I have a problem on a John Deere combine..Oil passes out between pump shaft and the seal..i repaired it manu times and still got the problem..Has anyone a fix for it?
Seals can wear a grove in shafts overtime and shaft replacement is necessary. Sometimes bearings on the shaft get loose enough it’s wobble sloop during operation won’t let a new seal actually seal.
@5:37 whacking (with a metal hammer) an outer race into a machined part is never a good idea. Also most professional's don't use an adjustable wrench. Just my 2 cents
So is the Steel Hammer, A brass or copper hammer would of been the better choice, Snap on have a version of them as well. A little burring can one not be good for the Bearing, & two possibly cause you not to get the correct preload adjustment.
Again installing the bearing cup in the housing with a steel punch, why not a brass one instead, & avoid risk of damage. Of everything inside an axial piston pump, the Bearings & their preload are the most important above all else. The rest is a breeze.

valve block (endcap), valve plate and cylinder pistons all had cavitation/aeration damage

I work mainly on field and i have to pack every tool i have in my pickup truck, but even then i dont carry adjustable spanner....

Is that a pvh131? Try checking your brg end play before you put all the guts in. I believe its .001-.004". Also why did you replace the endcap?

Cool vid. Looks like high-pressure rotary plunger type pump. I've seen similar in aircrafts as fuel pumps. Wear gloves.
