- The Story of Aaron Livesy from Itv's soap opera Emmerdale.
Synopsis: Aaron's furious when Paddy tells him about Adam's visit. Later at The Woolpack, he awkwardly wishes Adam happy birthday but is horrified when Jackson arrives. Aaron reluctantly agrees to have a pint with him but is uncomfortable when Ryan asks to join them.
Aaron's anxiety is further heightened as the night progresses and he eventually insists that he and Jackson head into town. However, when Jackson touches Aaron on the back of the neck, Aaron overreacts. Scared of being outed - and as the locals look on - Aaron punches Jackson square in the face.
Back at Smithy, Paddy's at a loss when the police arrive and lead a terrified Aaron away. Will Aaron's secret be out?

Ah shit. I hated watching that. God, Aaron's story is just heart wrenching, and the writers are being pretty damn good with it, it's realistic and sincere - rare to get that believability, especially after you've watched a few other gay storylines.
Ah the orchestral swelling of the Emmerdale intro...makes me happy just to hear it.
I actually understand the OVER reaction of Aaron and the punch - in his head the whole pub is wathcing them AND KNOW !!! and this is HIS pub - this was a kind of panic punch
jacjkson and adam body language is sound perfect
because of the non spoiler policy - I loved the whole experience
JPaul (Sutton) can talk Aaron about his big experience regarding loves and pains with Craig. Ha, ha, ha...

In my opinion, I dont think it was Jackson he was hitting but himself. He saw Jackson but as himself. He's 18 years old and the only person he can talk to about how he feels just pushed him a little to much. Don't condone what Aaron did, but I certainly understand. Jackson should of known better, especially considering where they are. Aaron feels safe at the woolpack because no one knows his secret. He doesn't know that Marlon knows because Paddy told him. So he only thinks Paddy and Adam know.

Jackson knows he's not ready, but still did that. Not excusing Aarons actions, but i understand them.
Aaron, you really screwed it up tonight, mate! Not only you will (probably) lose a good guy, but you've just outed yourself -the hard way- in front of almost everyone.
Honestly, I have no idea how you are gonna get out of this terrible mess you got yourself into...

if Aaron had just bloody told Jackson the situation when they started hanging out, I'm sure Jackson wouldn't have been so forward and revealing... Aaron has nobody to blame but himself...
I agree that Jackson was pushing it coming to the bar knowing how hard a time Aaron is having with but he is just trying to be a friend. I said before, enough with the punching already! I found this really hard to watch and I love Aaron, but he is going to have to pay for his actions. I really hope this turns out. I wish I could watch more than just 10 mins a day.
Love how Adam reacts when Jackson enters. Also note how Aaron looks at Adam. Sorta like- "see what you are missing". If you haven't figured it out- I am an Aaron and Adam More Than Friends Relationship Fan. Or last least be Friends with Benefits.

I can't believe he did that! Surely there's no way Jackson will want him now. I mean, he obviously like Aaron a lot to pursued him for this long but after that, who the hell would stick around?

@HigherC@differentcorners - I think Aaron punched him just to stop him speaking 'coz he was affraid of what Jackson might say. He is so totally paranoid.

Oh Aaron. That was simply brilliant. But timely. Adam now knows how truly frustrated Aaron is, and with the waggin' tongues of Emmerdale, the entire town will know he's Gay and having issues. Maybe now, everyone will cut him some slack.
I don't know the laws there. Does the person attacked have to swear out the complaint, or because it was public - can anyone? If Jackson had to swear it out, it may be his way of getting Aaron to come to grips and just might be helpful.

@Karlzberg414 I agree with everything you say except your disbelief that Jackson would call the police. Do you think Jackson's amusement at Aaron's discomfort could be because, based on his own experience, he thinks this is Aaron's path to self-acceptance?
Well finally! It's about time Aaron got a bit of consequential learning. Hopefully he won't be let off too easy, cuz as it stands now he's turning into the worst sort of gay man. Thanks for these updates, Jay. I'm practically bouncing in my seat, waiting for the next ep. :-)

@HigherC Thanks. Aaron may have lost Jackson as a friend or anything else by hitting him. I don't know what will happen in the show, but in real life someone in the district attorney's office would interview Jackson. If he's willing to testify, Aaron would in turn plead guilty to a misdemeanor (lesser charge for an uncontested, first-time offense) and be ordered to make some sort of restitution and to stay away from Jackson.
I hope Jackson does press charges. If I was Jackson, I would press charges and never see Aaron again!
BTW what is the drinking age?
I know I'll get a thousand thumbs down, but Aaron deserved to get arrested. Give em somethin to think bout, eh? Such a hothead, he is.
Oh the IRONY that James Sutton's character sat down with Aaron and Jackson. Emmerdal ain't about being too subtle with that little nod. They knew us fans would say something. LOL!

@HigherC Yeah, the punch was over the top. I don't believe Aaron would actually do that or use the word "pervert" in the context we saw. The writers wanted a certain outcome and sacrificed credibility to get it.
@JuggernautRF i agree but i don't think jackson knows how aggresive aaron can be. so far jackson has only seen the nice side
yes, me too!! I've seen so many "straight" and "friends" finally realize their love and their attraction to other guys. There have been many intimate moments between Adam and Aaron. Just review some of the shows. There were many indications many times when Adam is about 12 inches away from Aaron, right in his face, and many times about 6 inches away. How many straight men get that close so often? And actually, the energy between Adam and Aaron is PERFECT. Jackson and Aaron are like fizz to me.

Jackson needs to "back the HELL off!!!" Is he trying to out Aaron in front of everyone. He was leaving until the other guy came over to sit down, The looks he gives Aaron and the smiles make me feel that he deserve the punch.
I am sick to death of ALL of these outbursts of anger from Aaron. It's time someone punched him back. Too bad Aaron didn't try that with a gay guy that is a lot more butch and masculine than Jackson. It would be good to see Aaron get the crap knocked out of him for a change. This has gone on far too long. The writers REALLY need to advance this boring anger of Aaron and either get him out of town or let Aaron except the fact that he IS GAY!
I didn't like this twist in the story. It's a bit silly... I find it hard to believe that Aaron would punch Jackson just for touching his arm, and even more unbelievable that Jackson would call the police and charge him with assault. I felt that was a bit melodramatic even for soap world!
And Jackson might not have deserved a smack in the face, but he looked like he was getting a lot of enjoyment out of seeing Aaron uncomfortable.
@JESSJUSTJESS I felt he needed then too, but it was Paddy's decision to not press any charges. This time it happened in public.

@JESSJUSTJESS Yeah, I don't believe that Aaron would give himself away like that in his own pub. We can rationalize that Aaron's perception of what was happening was totally different from everyone else's. But I think the writers sacrificed credibility for a desired outcome. That happens all the time in soaps, but not so much in this one. I do believe that Jackson would immediately go to the police. Whatever the outcome, I think it's going to be interesting.
@msteareader I think no one saw the look Jackson gave Aaron when Adam joined them except Aaron. So that wouldn't suggest anything to anyone but Aaron. I don't think Jackson is trying to out Aaron. He understands Aaron's situation. Not only do I think Aaron was not justified in punching Jackson, I also think he would not have, because he would know that would mean outing himself. Anyway, Jackson apparently responded exactly the way I would have--go immediately to the police.
@WHCL Aaron doesn't need a smack. He's now in the hands of the law.

its funny that Paddy, the straight guy, acts more like a drama queen.
Of course a soap is going to be unrealistic! I mean, I think I only saw rain ONCE in ALL the episodes! Haha.
I am secretely hoping really hard that the writers let Aaron and Adam get together romantically. I think Aaron and Jackson is cool. However, the real chemistry and romance is between Aaron and Adam. Man I would love for Adam and Aaron to kiss. That would be so hot!
@JESSJUSTJESS Right, and by "reasonable" you don't mean rational or justified, but understandable and CONSISTENT with the situation and Aaron's psychology and frame of mind; whereas in this episode Aaron's punching Jackson seems inconsistent. I agree he needed to get rid of Jackson, and Aaron's social skills are underdeveloped. But I believe Aaron would have known that hitting Jackson would mean outing himself.

@frozenbaby2004 Yes! Jackson may have thought the same thing, & may also be someone who as a matter of principle ALWAYS files a complaint, if someone attacks him. In Jackson's world he has a right to be who he is, while Aaron lives in a world of self-hatred.
The bar owner can file for disorderly conduct or the like. I think only the person attacked can file a complaint of battery. It sounded like Jackson immediately reported to the police. If so, he did exactly what I would have done.

@roneboo 6 inches? I must have missed that. But 12 inches--you're probably right, and maybe you're right that it means something, although I'm more uncertain about that. True, straight men don't often get that close, but gay men do often over-interpret. The energy between A&A often seemed open, but not sexual. If Adam has latent feelings for Adam, they must be VERY latent. Else he would not have gone around telling people about Aaron's trying to kiss him.

i hope itll bring aaron back to his senses. i really like jackson, and feel sorry for him, but he knows how aaron is being secretive about his sexual identity, he knows how difficult it is for him, jackson shouldntve come in the first place.
i hope aaron isnt going to jail, even though he deserves a punishment.

@msteareader LOL. I can be a stickler about wording. "Friends with benefits" to me sounds so unromantic and reductionist. Maybe you actually meant boyfriends to begin with. :-) I have to concede that there's nothing inherently "wrong" about being friends with benefits, if that's what two people want. It just doesn't interest me, and I wouldn't want Adam & Aaron to settle for that. I'm tickled by your switch at the end to "friendship" in quotes--which covers EVERYTHING that's more than.

For gods sake, these storylines are becoming too unrealistic. This is 2010 and we live in England not Pakistan. First this, then the ridiculous Eastenders thing tonight!

@be19nt86 I agree the village seems devoid homophobes but to me that is a good thing. there was enough of that with AWZ,VL, GZSZ AND GTST. It seems to be pretty common in those foreign soaps so I think it is refreshing that is not the case with Emmerdale. It is truly aaron's issue. I still feel sympathy for him though except my sympathy is tested when he is so violent.

I came out in a very very conservative- all catholic (altho priests often times r gay XD ... such irony)- community. It was an scandal and i lost lots of friends after, 20 years of denial and rage i just couldnt handle it anymore... "there i said it, are u all happy now" were by coming out words...
