"If you reach a pedestrian crossing you have to stop" In my experience in Amsterdam they never do. They might ride around you but the more brazen ones will ring their bells if on a collision course to make you stop before carrying on their way.

I always tell my Couchsurfers to watch the 3T's when on a bike: Tramrails, Taxi's and Tourists! Always prepare for the unexpected :')
Hahaha so true. I am guilty . As a tourist I almost got hit by one :) but honestly it is so hard to cross the streets. Tourists must see something like this when arriving!

I was looking for some serious tips, nevertheless, I had a good laugh and learnt one or 2 tips

For a possible next version, I would add one thing to that great video: Show tourists _how to signal when they need to stop_.
I noticed that in Copenhagen, people raised their fist, Revolution style, but I didn't notice how people do in the Netherlands.

I am Dutch and there's no special way to indicate you're going to stop. But we Dutch are very good in "watching" the behaviour of other cyclists, somehow or other we know/see it immediately when someone wants to stop. It's just a matter of observing and instinctively knowing. It hardly ever goes wrong, it can happen of course but then you smile, say Sorry and go on your way again. We are very experienced.
So no problem!
When you see the bicyclist in front of you stop pedalling, .... BE AWARE !!!

I am thinking about a week biking in Amsterdam. Do you think it's enough time to see the city?. I do have to fly from west coast of Canada. Thank you for the tips,cheers.
Ten days is plenty to see the city and go to the beach or some waterworks. You could probably fill more time with Amsterdam alone, but any amount of time should be enjoyable. If you fly from all they way over there, I would personally recommend a longer stay to make it worth while, but my guess is you don't have unlimited time anyway. With a cycle you can defenitely see the most of Amsterdam it''s the fastest way to get around, especially because you can get away with ignoring traffic lights :P
Don't worry, Amsterdam is tiny. As is the whole country compared to Canada.
