I remember the sadness everyone felt while watching The Supremes sing "Someday, We'll Be Together" just after Diana Ross said she was leaving the group.
Thank you J.K. and Harri. I think it is Diana's greatest vocal performance, at least with the Supremes. Due to the good fortune of landing an usher job at Caesars Palace's Colosseum in Las Vegas, I was able to see Diana about 10 years ago. She was in her seventies then and she came out and sang a perfect, note for note performance of almost every Supreme song there was. Of course she also did her solo career which was amazing but the really magical part was hearing songs like Baby Love and Stop! In The Name Of Love and having them sound like they did when I was 10 years old. Diana looked amazing and her voice sounded like she was 18. As an usher dressed like a penguin, we were expected to stand as straight as a statue while the performers are doing their set. I always found this difficult to do but especially when Diana started singing Stop, In The Name of Love, I broke all protocol and was doing the whole thing with the hands and arms. Yes, I got in trouble but I did not care. Lol. My attitude was that I could always get another part-time job but I knew I would probably never get another chance to see this legend perform.
These old Motown songs always sound wonderful, especially The Supremes! I had never heard this extended version. Just making a great song greater. Thanks Harri and JKClark 🌺✌️
No tattoos no vulgar language no fake breasts and butts. Just pure melodic beauty from three beautiful woman. I'm a old man now and hearing the sounds I grew up with brings tears to my eyes. I miss those times so very much.
This is my 10 month-old daughter's favourite group and this is her favourite song by them! I have to wholeheartedly agree with all your comments. This must be the best 'girl group' of all time, and the strings in this particular song really evoke tremendous emotions that simply wouldn't be there without them. The words to the song and the basic melody are simple, yet the backing vocals and strings are the instruments that are actually crying with despair and crying out with hope alternately, which lends tremendous sentiment to a supposed 'pop' song.
One of my favorite songs from the 60s. I saw live James Brown, Gladys Knight, the Temps, Wilson Pickett, Smokey....regret that I never saw the Supremes! Super channel I had to subscribe!
Thanks Harri, for bending the reaction rules again! It's getting harder and harder to find new diamonds for your ears, mate. You're an expert in so many areas! So glad you found the backstories worth re-telling ... cheers!
I never paid attention to this detail of the male voice in the background, I loved it!! Thank you JK and Harri💜 this is such a beautiful song💖🌷also enjoyed the extended version as well♥️💎♥️💎
"Someday We'll Be Together" dropped when I was a really little kid, but it stood out on the radio along with a handful of other songs by The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel and the like because I remember hearing it on the radio station my parents listened to. Definite playlist. The extensions were interesting. It sounded like an entire passage focused on the backing vocalists. The Supremes followed up with "Stoned Love", their last American top ten single, with lead vocals by Jean Terrell.
I'd always heard that Johnny Bristol went into the vocal booth to give Diana encouragement to put more energy into the song. He's not singing the lyrics, he's singing, "Say it!" and "Sing it!" There's also, sadly, no other Supremes on the recording. Being recorded originally as Ross's first solo single, it has other background singers, but Berry Gordy decided to the put the full name of the group on the record. It's still my favorite Supremes' song.
The Supremes were one of the best Motown girl groups from the 60's. Most of their early material was written & produced by Berry Gordy or Smokey Robinson. They had so many great hits such as "Stop! In The Name Of Love", "Come See About Me", "Baby Love", "Where Did Our Love Go", "Back In My Arms Again", "I Hear A Symphony", "You Can't Hurry Love", "Love Is like An Itching In My Heart", "Love Is Here & Now You’re Gone", "You Keep Me Hangin' On", "Love Child" etc.
Absolutely fantastic, of course! I am lucky to live where I do, near Detroit. If you ever make your way here, a visit to Hitsville USA, the Motown Museum, is a MUST. The docents and the exhibits are amazing (and the exhibits change, so it is different each visit). Coincidentally, I proposed to my wife in Studio A, where all that wonderful music was made! 😁
Florence Ballard's replacement was Cindy Birdsong. Although on this single, Diana Ross is the only member who sang. The backing vocals are sung by Maxine Waters and Julia Waters (those two are better known as "The Waters Sisters"), and let's not forget about the musicians. Some of the musicians who played on this song include Earl Van Dyke on piano, Robbie King on organ, Dennis Coffey on guitar and James Jamerson on bass. The drummer has never been confirmed, but judging by the style, I'd say that the drummer is most likely Uriel Jones.
Also Merry Clayton took the high parts on the background vocals. She didn’t want to do that but she said Johnny Bristol wanted her to take that high parts.
Great channel Harri. This is one of my favorite Diana songs. I'm usually not a fan of extended songs cuz they usually take away from the original. The original is much better. Appreciate the reaction.
Best song she ever did written by Johnny Bristol. Mary and Cindy were not the background singers on this record. It was another trio of girl singers who also did a lot of background for Marvin Gaye among others.
Wow! I forgot how attractive those ladies were. Diana had some stiff competition in the looks department, although her voice was one that everyone in the world knows. Play more!
Really .. where? It sounds almost exactly the same as the original except for the instrumental interlude between the second chorus and the bridge. th-cam.com/video/HXGz8i0I2L0/w-d-xo.html
Very interesting listening to the male voice background, I loved it!! I didn’t pay much attention before either Thank you JK and Harri💜 This is such a beautiful song💎♥️💎♥️💎
I just found your channel tonight, and would like to suggest/request the song Say I Won't by Mercy Me. I've been trying for a while now to get someone to react to this amazing song of triumph and perseverance. Thank you for your time.
I remember the sadness everyone felt while watching The Supremes sing "Someday, We'll Be Together" just after Diana Ross said she was leaving the group.
I cant listen to the supremes without thinking about Florence ballard a truly wonderful singer with a tragic back story
Love the Supremes ! Beautiful harmony.
Actually the backup singers were first rate with Flo and co.

I'm glad they left the Johnny Bristol adlibs in there to make it a distinctive tune.
Uncle Phil, was it worth it? Think it ohh-woahh-ver! 🎶
WOW! What an amazing experience! Good on you! Lucky you!
These old Motown songs always sound wonderful, especially The Supremes! I had never heard this extended version. Just making a great song greater. Thanks Harri and JKClark 🌺✌️
I think of my transistor radio when I hear The Supremes
No tattoos no vulgar language no fake breasts and butts. Just pure melodic beauty from three beautiful woman. I'm a old man now and hearing the sounds I grew up with brings tears to my eyes. I miss those times so very much.
Exactly!!!
I was hoping you'd get to Motown soon. I like this longer version, just beautiful.
This is my 10 month-old daughter's favourite group and this is her favourite song by them! I have to wholeheartedly agree with all your comments. Now this is music, I grew up listening to The Supremes
My favorite Supremes recording! First time hearing this extended version...love it even more now. Thanks Harri!!!!
The legendary James Jamerson on Bass. Paul McCartney has credited James base playing as a major influence in developing his style.
Alright, I had the double blue album of The Supremes Greatest hits, played it to death, lol. Remember this tune well. Thanks for the memories Harri.👍❤️
Damn, i was so lucky to grow up with music like this.
Sick 😂
One of my favorite songs from the 60s. I saw live James Brown, Gladys Knight, the Temps, Wilson Pickett, Smokey....regret that I never saw the Supremes! Super channel I had to subscribe!
I even like the post Diana Ross Supremes hits Stone Love and Up the Ladder to the Roof.
But Diana isn't singing lead.
I absolutely adore Diana Ross and The Supremes!❤
This is their best song.
The drum groove is very laid back in the pocket on this song.
Of all the really great Supremes songs, this is still my favorite. They were very welcome regulars on the Ed Sullivan show back in the day.
Thanks Harri, for bending the reaction rules again! It's getting harder and harder to find new diamonds for your ears, mate. You're an expert in so many areas! So glad you found the backstories worth re-telling ... cheers!
❤👍🎶⚘
It's Johnny Bristols voice in the background🙂
I never paid attention to this detail of the male voice in the background, I loved it!! Thank you JK and Harri💜 this is such a beautiful song💖🌷also enjoyed the extended version as well♥️💎♥️💎
Class, grace and Supreme talent.

You could dance fast or slow to this song, depending on which beat grabs you!
Slow and close ✌️♥️🤟🥁
Produced and written by Johnny Bristol🙂

The Supremes WERE the 60's loolll!!!!!
Well you were right to pick this one JK. Thanks, I love the Supremes and thanks to Harri also.

JK - Nice one!
❤❤❤❤❤
DR's sister was the Dean of the School of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University.
Supremes.. Love Child.. Can't Hurry Love.. You Keep Me Hanging On
Harri, are you familiar with the song writer's hit of his own? It's called "Hang On In There Baby". It is a really good song from 1974.
Thanks for the facts.
Another song you will love Bohemian Rhapsody by 40 fingers. The ending is a must.

@donnasharpe3451 I thought I heard a 3rd female backing singer on the song.
Funny this song came up. I requested a Diana Ross song as my replacement for the delfonics last month
❤

Harri, wow you’re diving into Motown check out the Marvelettes version of someday we’ll be together. Wanda Rogers shines on it.
Diana Ross "Chain Reaction" just a suggestion.
Wow! I forgot how attractive those ladies were. Diana had some stiff competition in the looks department, although her voice was one that everyone in the world knows. Play more!
Marvin Gaye background.
Not Marvin Gaye? urban legend ???
Strange version. They leave out the vocals in a lot of places that originally weren't left out.

What is this mix?? Original was so much better.
I have to say I don’t like this extended version.
