      Yeah I find that so impressive. And it's well-written by the game's creators too. I'm glad I finally got around to reading it a couple years ago, I had always skipped past it before that. Thanks for listening!!

      I'm glad you think about it the same way. That was a big decision for me when starting the project- I had to decide if I'd commit to an accent for essentially the entire book, and wanted to be sure I could do it justice

    How cool would it be if nastacha's voice actress could read her own audiobook ^^
    Also its amazing thinking back to her character in the game being only a minor side character and how you can play through it and never even meet her makes her account even that more impactful call coming from someone on the sidelines of the entire affair in the series but over seeing everything thats going on and being just as much in the line of fire as the main characters, both in the events of the games and in her early childhood years

    • @BooksinGames
      @BooksinGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd love to see that! Maybe in a MGS remaster? (fingers crossed) That's a good observation too. I was fascinated by the learning the process they go through to contact and monitor Snake in this book. It's a side we definitely never really get to see

    • @BooksinGames

      I agree. After first reading this book it shot up to become a major part of how I view the series. It reminds me of the cassettes you'd get in Peace Walker / MGSV, where they offer such a huge amount of insight into the character motivations, but they're totally separate from the gameplay

    Thanks for reading this out! I remember being a kid and straining the hell out of my eyes trying to read the small text of these books off my CRT TV back in the day. Pretty cool that they included 3 in-universe books of varying lengths in for mgs2. God I wish there was a way to increase the text size back in the day, but this is a great way to re-experience this. I know this must've taken you a hell of a long time to make, but I can't help but hope you'll get around to the other two one day! I remember the one about the peanut butter obsessed reporter to be surprisingly entertaining and nobody ever seems to talk about it (If I'm remembering correctly, he disguised himself as a fish to get onto Shadow Moses Island so no one would notice him, man it got weird lol)

      1. Why did the government hide the fact that nothing happened there?
      2. When liquid snake threatened to launch a nuke was the public aware or was it kept secret?
      3. What happened to the employees and guards working at Shadow Moses the genome soldiers what happened to them?

      He had a Xbox 360 at the time, so he mostly played that. Anyway since he just got the old PS2 Slim for his B-Day he yet to buy a memory card so one day it took him about 15 hours to beat MGS3 without turning off the system😂 Even worse we didn’t know about the cheats to beat The End, so my brother was telling me it took him like a couple hours to finally beat him😂 The MGS series is full of great memories, and that’s one of the reasons this franchise is my favorite of all time when it comes to games🏆

    • @BooksinGames
      @BooksinGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Haha good catch about Jaeger/Yeager. This transcription came from the game, where they probably got the American spellings mixed up. According to Wikipedia, Yeager is an alternate spelling of the German name Jaeger. Fun fact as well, Jaeger means "hunter" in German, so Naomi used the same origin as Jaeger when choosing her identity's last name, Hunter 😀

    • @BooksinGames
      @BooksinGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      As for Dr. Clark, I've always wondered about that as well. The way I figure it, Naomi never actually saw her (Naomi only covered up the tracks of the incident), and so she just assumed Clark was a man.
      Of course, the real reason is that Kojima hadn't written Para-medic into the canon yet in 2001, but I like thinking of it as Naomi's error. Then it still fits in canon!

    I've read this a few times on the game and I'm so happy someone took the time to record it. Thank you so much! The accents are a great addition, although I must admit the Russian/Ukrainian accent got a little bit much for me. Would of been great to only have Natasha's voice when she was talking to Richard Ames, as opposed to the narrator as well, but that's just me.
    My favourite part is in chapter 46, only because when the speculate about Dr Hunter, that she could be working for another organisation..... Now I always interpret that as being the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo (dam nanomachines 😄) but what's I like more is this conversation was also in the game, it makes me wonder if Kojma had planned the La.. Patriots 🙃 even before the sequels began.
    It shows a man really at the top of his game (pun not intended) and shows how much depth there was to this story.

    I listened to this audiobook during my work recently (I work in a office and audiobooks help me not pass out from sheer boredom) and I really like this perspective of the first MGS game! I love hearing the outsiders view of the adventures of solid snake and hearing the political nature of the world building in the background still in full force and having it build up to the other games and outright reference them! I really like it! Amazing job!
