STORY:
King William and Queen Uberta want to unite their kingdoms through the marriage of their children, Derek and Odette. They have been engaged since they were children, but they don't like each other and are in love with someone else.
Derek is in love with Anastasia, a young noble of his kingdom, who is living at the palace as a curt-lady. Odette is in love with Eric, a sailor, who she met on the ship that's bringing her to Derek's country every summer.

Phew, this was a ride. I had zero time for this in my scedule, but when I heard about it I just had to make this! I can't wait to finally see one of my favourite animated movies in crystal clear HD! ♥♥♥ The announcement made me so happy and I'll be one of the first to get that Blu-Ray when it comes out, bet on it ;D
The rules of this contest didn't forbid the use of 3rd party content so the way I see it, my video should meet the criteria! :3 I worked really hard on this for the past 3 1/2 weeks (I think that's a new record?) and tried to use as many free masks and canon scenes as I could :P Eric is such a *** to mask haha :'D I apologize for any wiggles in the masks, but you know...LQ footage :'D I hope you enjoy it anyway ♥
P.S. I love Anya and Derek so much together? This will definitely not my last video with them ♥

First off OMG LOVE ITTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!
Second: What makes this just sad is that you see something happening between Derek and Anya and with Odette and Eric.
So the saddest part was when the Two royals had to tell the one they really love that they have to get married someone else since childhood, Eric and Anya are not just heart-broken it that neither Derek or Odette made a stand. They just gave into their parents demands. And they put on a show even after they are married. And I’m sure Eric and Anya left their kingdoms to forget how neither of their loved ones were brave enough to say :I can’t do this. I can’t marry someone I don’t love. I would like to reunite our kingdoms but what is the point of doing this is I can’t be happy ruling with the one I love.
This video is important because we learn not all Fairytales have their happy endings......

I can tell so much went into this. I found myself impressed at even the smaller moments like 2:28-2:30. That transition of their hands letting go (using the clip from Pocahontas) was so smooth and fit so perfectly.

^^ This was truly beautiful, original and amazing!! Odette and Eric go well together, as do Anastasia and Derek! I love finding unique, original and different boy/girl pairings like this!! And this is among my favorites!
Here is something that has been through my head for some time since finding this gem of a music video! Here it is:
*Before the official wedding of Odette and Derek, King William sees that his daughter is very upset and has not come out of her room since Derek's announcement of accepting the marriage between him and her. He is saddened, as he knows of his daughter's love to Prince Eric. Even though he knew it was for the betterment of the kingdom for the future... it still hurt his daughter to give up her true love like so, and in a manner that hurt her and Prince Eric.
He goes to find Eric, to see if he could do something... anything to help the lad. He goes to the docks, and sees Prince Eric and his crew getting ready to set sail. He goes to the prince, who continues to work while ignoring him. King Willam cam feel the sorrow, anger and disappointment from him, and he could not blame him*
King William: Eric, look... I... I am sorry that this had to be. I know that you are a fine lad and have had my daughter's heart for a long time but...
Prince Eric: *Stops his work on the moorings, back turned to the king. He looks from his place near the bow spirit, looking to the waters* Your Highness... this is my last trip here. Once I leave... I won't be coming back.
King William: *Mildly surprised* Really? I can assume why, but... Odette... she will miss you terribly...
Prince Eric: *Sighs*.... King William, you lost your wife. You had her, you loved her, had Odette with her before she passed from childbirth. You have been in pain from her passing, wishing she was there with you to see her growing up.
Prince Eric: *Continues* That is little compared to pain of 'what-if's' and 'could have been' life. To see the one you love with another... to see her living a life that could have been ours... to see her having a child that could have been ours... to see her and wonder a different kind of future with us... knowing though that it could never be.
King William: *Tries to say something, but cannot find the words. He soon sighs and looks down in defeat, knowing that Eric was correct in those statements*
Prince Eric: *Turns to see him, face neutral but signs of hurt on him* I cannot endure coming here like I used to; seeing the woman I still love very much with another man, seeing them living and planning together... and seeing them with a child that came from them. It would be too much for me. This is why I am never returning to this kingdom.
Prince Eric: *Walks past him, not looking back. He pauses for a moment* Give Odette the message and... my regards.
*King William turns to see the prince continue walking to help along with the preparations for the ship. He is very sad, his hopes of having a positive meeting with the prince dashed. He slowly leaves the ship, knowing that Odette will be devastated when she hears the news & also that Eric would not be at the wedding. He can only hope the best for his daughter*
~Meanwhile~
Queen Uberta: *Was with Lady Anastasia in her room, said woman packing* My dear, won't you reconsider? I mean, you are moving all the way to Russia? That place is way out there from the kingdom!
Anastasia: *Continues to pack, not looking at her* Exactly.
Queen Uberta: *Sighs* My dear, I know that you and my son had something special. But it was for...
Anastasia: *Interrupts her, voice cold and neutral* The best? The best for whom, your Highness?
Queen Uberta: *Pauses, looks at her in concern* Dear...
Anastasia: If I stay here... seeing the one I love with another woman... seeing flashes of a life that could have been if he had the damn courage to stand up to you instead of giving in to you and King William... it would be too much for me. *Looks to her* At least you were with the one you loved, you married and had Derek with him. I heard on how he died protecting you from bandits, so at least he died protecting the one he loved.
Queen Uberta: *Looks down, very hurt as the memory of that particular moment in time still fresh*
Anastasia: You have that. Me... I am not so fortunate. And even if I do find another, it would be hard for me to learn to love another, even though my first love was denied like this. *Looks to the queen* Tell Derek I am not returning at all. And... give him my final regards.
*She finishes packing, taking her luggage out of the room and down below. Queen Uberta looks outside from the window, looks down to see Anastasia packing up her things on a large carriage that would take her far from the kingdom and to a place that had a train that would take her to Russia. She continues to look on, seeing the horses taking the carriage to its destination, the Queen looking sad as any chance of convincing Anastasia to stay was dashed. She knew her son would be very hurt by the news, wondering on how he was going to take it*
And... cut! That is that! ^^ Hope you liked it!

I was searching for a crossover of Swan Princess and Anastasia. I was always disappointed that Odile was never explored as a likeable character in Swan Lake and I think Anya/Anastasia could be seen as Rotbart's daughter (or adoptive daughter). I was triggered when I read in the book "Bolshoi Confidential" that Odile wasn't a Black Swan in the original performance, but that she did wear a Russian golden dress with ribbons and this did me remind me of Anastasia at once. I would love to do a Swan Lake video, with a pre story and alternate story ending, where Odile is actually Derek's secret youth love at court, but she is banned together with her (adoptive?) father Baron Rotbart (accused of using black magic). Later, Odile is persuaded to trick Derek pretending to be Odette to win his heart, but of course, she realizes that Derek is now in love with Odette. She falls in love with Derek's best friend Benno (who could be Dimitri, of course). Do you think you could do some story shots, using this one and some original clips and the theme from Swan Lake? I think this would be a satisfying, great addition (:
