I almost joined the minimalist bandwagon. Put all my books in boxes and asked my husband to give to charity. My husband looked at me and said 'no way, this is not you, you will regret this, you adore all your books'. Thank God I listened!

I like the house - but she seems incredibly pretentious, but then aren't most artists and literati these days? they probably weren't once upon a time. 'the psychic space you make art from'?? a lot of people have to struggle to eat, to get enough money to merely survive - or have to struggle with menial jobs as cleaners, cashiers etc. she lives in a different world to these poor, trapped souls of which she has no, and will never have, any conception. souls who don't have an ounce of energy to think about 'art' or making any kind of psychic space at all - they are lucky if they have a functional space to live in or lie down in. she has never felt so 'fed' by a place - good god. some people have to worry about literally being fed.
The Maximalism of Minimalism. The spaces are cohesive, conducive to work and mind wandering, well loved and lived in, beautifully utilized, well organized, peaceful yet energizing 💕💕💕

I met Olivia Laing at the LRB Bookstore where she was interviewing Luke Turner. I bought his book and asked her to sign my copy of her book Crudo, which she did; I was delighted. But I must have pissed her off somehow because a week later she blocked me on Instagram.
