We bought our Newmar Kountry Star and it came with a sleep number bed in it. I am getting the best sleep I have had in years. I have a bad back and neck and I sleep so much better and longer. 😊
I enjoy learning about these things even though I'm not an RV'er ( until I win the Lottery ). Its one of the most entertaining things on TH-cam. If I was to buy a 'dream truck' I'd choose the Ram. Now Scotty Kilmer, old hand mechanic on TH-cam will tell you avoid due to modern problems. He'd say, buy the Ford and not even a new one, no get an old school F truck. But if I'm not worrying about money and there being plenty of places to take it for a fix, I'd have the Ram. Its stylish in a rugged way, has a nicer ride and quieter. Best of all, there exists a dream truck trim available for the Ram you may have seen, called the Laramie Longhorn. Wow, that saddle brown leather, the real wood everywhere, the detailing themed on ranch & country life, down to branded-on look wood detailing. How the cabin looks and feels is so important and that version is just gorgeous. I believe it may have selectable noise cancellation, which for my tinnitus racked ears that would be welcome at times. That hard top rear cover with the darkened windows you use is a great idea, especially as you say, for secure bike stowage. Enjoyed your video. ps, I don't even bother with a mattress. I prefer to hang upside down in a closet, like a bat. I got the idea from Grandpa Munster.
lol, they had their chance - funny how those companies won't work with you unless you agree to a script and to promote them BEFORE they even send you the mattress. Makes you wonder how many promote them because they are contractually obligated .... hmmm
Another great video! If I had a TH-cam channel, I'd be tempted to make a video of "why sticks and bricks living stinks- everything breaks" as we have had to replace 2 major appliances (stove and fridge) within 3 weeks. Thought of that when I saw your airfryer. Our little airfryer has been getting quite the use over the past 6 weeks. Continued safe travels to you!
The mattress, i agree. Love the bath fan insert. Now Fury-on appliances. I hit the road after 11 years stationary, 4/20/24. I have Dometic refrigerator, it wont chill my milk @40° i have to somthing about that. Milk that wont make it to the sell by date, because its too warm. Milk will last about a week past the date, IF it stays cold, 34° cold. Whats your take on soft starts? As for serge protection, its in the panel. It is cheep to replace a breaker. And works just like a watch dog. However you dont get lights telling whats wrong. It will trip, qnd not reset if there is a problum at the pedestal.
Ah, the OL Dometic fridge that barely kept food cold - had one of those in our last RV - The Furrion fridge isn't much better. Things in the back freeze, anything on the door stays warm. When this goes we will most likely replace it with a residential unit. As for soft starts - highly recommend them, especially if you plan on using a smaller generator. If you are always plugged into a RV park, probably aren't needed.
Believe it or not. The 98 Dutchman classic had NorCold, 3 way, gas, 12v, and electric 110. It worked well for 7 years. A cold snap, -30° and it popped. 3am awakened by it, just to hear hissing. I do know it had a compressor, and ran 12v very well. 15 years, and back to 12v, is now the trend. This one will be replaced before it goes bad. 12v of corse
I have the same surge protector and I like it because if the circuit board ever goes out you can get ahold of them and order a new one and just replace it rather than buying a new one.
since we're snowbirds and the power can be very bad in mexico, we travel with our replacement surge board. the EPO function gives great peace of mind...
Ditto on the RV life thing. I have always found the GPS phone software too buggy for my tastes. I have the Garmin 895 and its great. I solved the water heater breathalyzer tube another way, I had a Truma installed.
Those Truma units are really nice - If I am not mistaken Robert Morales (Traveling Robert) recommended us switching out the unit several months ago for a Truma.
Thanks so much for this great, USEFULL vid!!! Mattresses, years ago we had a 5er, with a cheap factory king bed that you could d eventually feel the coils in, as you played on it. I picked up a nice 2" foam topped from ed a th and Beyond d, and when that mattress collapsed, that topper felt lime a little cacoon. Best sleep I ever had! "Nobody wants to live in a cave".....😅 I would like to live in a cave!!!!!! Have a good week.
Love your vids, thank you! We are new to RV's, have a TLRV Rove Lite 14FL and will be using it soon. I wanted to keep it lite for any extras. We did buy a microwave as one was not included as the a/c unit is installed in that spot. I wanted to make toasted sandwiches without pulling out the fry pan and making a mess so I bought something that you might find interesting. It's from a small firm in Calgary AB called "The Toastie" which can make toasted sandwiches in the micro in 2 minutes. I tested it and works great. Again, I bought this for the lightness and coolness. Wanted to share.
I have a Tineco & it mops & sweeps! It cleans itself when its on the charging base. I believe its about the same price as the one you have, when yours breaks or you choose to upgrade, look into the tineco !

Some good recommendations, thanks. I definitely put that dehumidifier on my shopping list. I bought a smaller one for use while in storage, and my remote temp/humidity sensors tell me it isn't doing much good. I LOL every time the mattress discussion ensues. I must have a gold plated back. The last purchase for home (std king) cost a few hundred more from a Brandsmart big box store where I got to lay on a bunch of them to decide, than the 76x80 rv king from the over promoted mail order place we got for the camper. I guess my point being that a high quality hybrid mattress ain't cheap no matter where you buy it. I agree actually laying on them helps the decision process early on, but in my late 50's I pretty much know what's going to make me sleep well or bring the pain, without needing to try them out first.
You are right, at the end of the day it is a personal decision on mattresses. We will say this: Funny how those companies won't work with you unless you agree to a script and to promote them BEFORE they even send you the mattress. What do you think about Solar panels? What would you recommend for a replacement toilet? (We bought a RV that is 12 years old, had to repace the plastic toilet and now the replacement sucks😢!) Do you recommend portable washing machines? What water filters do you use? We buy one from Camping world or Walmart (depends on what is cheaper). What blinds do you recommend (we have horrible metal ones that need replaced)? Any recommendations for winterizing your RV sewer and water lines while living in it? We are putting up skirting underneath. Any organization or shelving for under the bench seats?
Okay, that is a lot of questions :) Hopefully we cover them all. 1. Solar Panels - We have the stock one that came with our rig, in 2 years of being full time that is all we have needed as we do not boondock. 2. Everything we recommend for RV life can be found here: www.amazon.com/shop/liferedesigned 3. Never gave much thought to portable washers. Most RV resorts have great laundry facilities. 4. Winterization we haven't had to do as we move when it gets cold :) 5. Please don't look under our benches - just spare parts there .. Hope that all helps :)
@@liferedesigned thank you so much for answering my questions!!! Unfortunately, doing laundry where we are is expensive. I will keep researching! Thanks again!
