You should try ultralight tackle for those trout. 6lb test is plenty strong enough. I like to use a jighead for crappie with a gold hook and light weight, and hook them from under the chin. That way the hook point is just above the horn, and the weight is between their feet where it's hard to see. It's a very good way to use shrimp on light line, you'll get a lot more bites. The tube jig heads are my favorite.

I've noticed on yours and many other channels that more often than not, you guys are using the left hand return on your reels. Are all great fishermen left handed ? Are you guys too lazy to change over to the right side? Is there something I don't know about that you guys don't use your dominant hand to reel in the line ?

Is it deep water near the shore? Really nice big fishes like these are near the shore. Here in Brasil, thats really rare. Fishing with corks is not easy because the waves keep bringing it to the beach. Nice video!!!
I’m doing some fishing this week in Port Isabela Tx. Caught a few whiting a big Lady fish and plenty of cats. Going tonight to do some surf fishing on South Padre. Praying to gat into some trout and reds. Maybe even a shark with my shark attack. Loving your channel and the mastery course. Tryin to put it to work for me.
How would an artificial shrimp do in the surf fished the same way? Either a vudu type shrimp or even one such as a gulp hooked in the nose

It is hard to be too sarcastic about sargassum! It is only good when you find some offshore, otherwise it is just a weed.
I have trouble reading a beach. So when you said a "rip to your left" I seen the white cap water, then a space, then white caps to your right. Are you dishing the area in front of you where it is "calmer" water or are you fishing the actual rip? Thanks!

Myself and a buddy of mine will be headed down to the Pensacola area to do our first beach fishing trip. Super excited, been binge watching your videos and also took your beach fishing course. What’s the water like and do you think using light tackle with artificials will be good this weekend?
If you are willing to pay $25 for a one week entry. The point at Fort Pickens is a really good spot because of the deep water. The jetty at Destin is also a good spot, about an hour away from Pensacola.
