Great video David, really enjoyed this one. The FTD session sets tend to be under controversy in the Elvis fandom being that, not only do the producers “edit” these sessions, but most of the session are claimed to be complete when in actuality they are not!!! There are, “boot” CD’s that contain material that ARE NOT presented on the FTD sets, and in some cases, vice versa. Thanks 😊.
I love the sessions boxes to hear every little thing I can especially the false starts and work parts. So interesting and you know me David I love everything Elvis!!
It's fascinating stuff. It's a shame you can't hear much of what people are saying without headphones. Now, there's a side project - transcribing the Sessions dialogues.
Interesting my friend, a few commentators on youtube have mentioned the fact that sometimes you don’t always get loads of extra tracks on the “sessions” box sets, but as you say us completists will still buy them! cheers mate!
Also, the difference between the 7 inch sets and the 8 inch session sets is the 7 inch sets have the takes all jumbled up out of order. the sessions are in chronologic order. I like that.
I have the classic album releases, as well as all of the session sets and you have made a valid point. My problem with FTD on the session sets is their “need” to censor and edit dialogue that they feel the listener can’t handle, so to speak (ie: cursing, etc.) As someone who had many sessions sets on bootleg long before the advent of FTD, it irritates the hell out of me when I come across an instance of it. I’ve heard others complain about it, as well. ⚡️
Yes, this is annoying on so many levels. I mean rappers have every cuss word in the book on thier cd's and they release them that way. All they have to do is put a little warning sticker on the set. Then they are covered.
Hi David but you buying FTD hope more cool songs from Elvis more great outtake but no it all good fun find what you like keep up cool video my friend take care
But then what would they have left to release? Next time, it'll be the COMPLETE Sessions. After that, it'll be the ACTUAL Complete Sessions. Remastered.
I finally have all the 11 sessions sets in my collection .it took a little saving and looking around but all new and 4 of the older ones were same or less in price when they came out. I don't have any of the other 7"inch releases. Unfortunately. Great topic to adress these edits they do on the sets. Very annoying and 😡. Love the Channel and the great info you give and share. Thanks!
Great video and point David! I do think the 2 main points for wanting the session upgrades (just my opinion) is the extra takes, false starts, less edits and importantly the new mastering. In the classic series I’m sure I found many were spliced takes, so not always getting take by take and the full takes. I’m not at the point of wanting missing milliseconds of silent audio though 😂
I think this is one of the main bone of contentions with "the Session Sets" and that is there is very little more over and above the takes that are on the 7" Classic albums. From memory, fans were complaining that for the Memphis ‘69 Sessions Set, that there was only around 18 minutes worth of recordings that were not on the three 7" Classic albums that covered the original albums. G I Blues is likely to be another one because there are 2 volumes of that within the 7" Classic Album series, so a Session Set for those recordings is not likely to offer good value for money for any unreleased offerings, and maybe that’s why FTD have not issued anything yet although I doubt feeling guilty about fleecing collectors will worry them.
This is very useful info. I have the 7" Memphis sets but not the Sessions. So that's one I can cross off my list, unless it falls into my lap cheaply. I have the MRS G. I. Blues set, so I'll need to look at the FTD version closely before committing to buying it. Thanks a lot.
Hi David...the FTD CD "Wild In The Country" needs a 3rd (!) Pressing to correct finally the misspelling of Elvis' surname "Presely" on the Site Paneel of the FTD Cover 😂 LOL! Thank you David!
I've only got the pot luck sessions set and I still haven't played all of it yet and I've had some time now,I can't listen to the same song so many times,I'll end up not liking it,so I'd prefer the 7inch sets. Great video. Luv the show.

Hi, Tony. I think there are numerous reasons for missing takes on the Sessions sets, including times when the engineer counted incorrectly. It's a bit of a minefield but I think the info is out there on the web. I've been lucky enough to find several Sessions sets for decent prices recently. They're worth having, even though they have their faults. Good luck - I'm sure you can get them for a reasonable price if you take your time. Cheers, Tony.
Ftds aren't cheap, Went to a warehouse to look into 500+ lps . Not one Elvis! 100s of the middle of the road stuff but mostly classical and german lps. I did pick up the Jordanaires cd.
The sound has been remixed on the session sets and they do sound phenomenal...
I'm not sure my ears would notice any differences, but one of these days I may do a side-by-side comparison.
Great video David, really enjoyed this one.

It must be very frustrating for fans who want to get every note and every word spoken.

Hopefully, we'll be posting the next Forum video within the next week.

Nice video David I do love The ftd CDs I get them when I can but they are expensive. TCB ❤
Me too. I'm not a big fan of the cardboard covers but they look great.
貴重な情報をありがとうございます。確かに、最近のFTDのComplete Sessionsを買ったとしても、昔のFTDは手放さないほうがよさそうですね😃😃
7" CDは聞くもので、Sessionsはリサーチのためのものでしょう。
Like always David a great video. Looking forward to seeing you with Adam on the forum. I have all the most of FTD. Stay safe. Ellie.🎼🎶🎵🕺🏻❤️😃👍⚡️
Hi, Ellie. I've tried to be picky with the FTD releases, but I do like the 7" and Sessions sets, although none of them are perfect.

You've hit on what it is that Adam and I will be discussing in our next Forum video. Exactly that.

@@tallman4040 It would be hilarious to find an Elvis release with a "Warning - Explicit Language" sticker on it.

Spread it about and maximize profit. The sessions should have been the definitive set.

I think since you have the Sessions, you can probably skip the equivalent 7" sets, unless it's just for the collection.

I can empathise with that viewpoint. I'll try to bring it up in my chat with Adam on the Forum.
Good to know, thanks David. I only have a handful of the classic album titles, so I tend to rely on the sessions boxes being a handy one stop shop
One stop shop. Good phrase. It would be good one day to do a longer video on the pros and cons of both the Classic Album and Sessions series.

The hunt is still on. Wouldn’t mind the hits of 64 which is a jp release with Elvis and Ann Margaret on the cover😅
