  • In this skit since Beulah has brought her pet sloth to class, she learns some of things the Bible says about being ‘slow’. For example, Moses described himself as being “slow of speech”, and God is described 7 times in the Bible as “merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love”. She also learns that we’re to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. Most importantly, she learns that Jesus is not being “slow” in returning but is giving more people an opportunity to accept His gift of salvation before His promised Second Coming.
    Memory Verse:
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1:19 NLT)
    Lessons Learned:
    • Moses was a shepherd who was taking care of his father-in-law’s flock
    • One day Moses noticed a bush that was on fire but wasn’t burned up, so he went closer to see it
    • God spoke to Moses and told him to go and tell Pharoah to set the Israelites free
    • Moses told God he was ‘slow of speech’
    • Moses may have not been comfortable speaking the Egyptian and Hebrew languages because he had been living in Midian for 40 years
    • Stephen described Moses as being “powerful in both speech and action” just before he was martyred in the Book of Acts
    • The Book of Deuteronomy includes speeches that Moses made to the Israelites
    • God told Moses that He had made man’s mouth and would help Moses speak to Pharoah
    • God sent Moses’ brother, Aaron, who could speak well, to go with Moses when he went to speak to Pharoah
    • 7 times the Bible describes God as “merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love”
    • We should be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to get angry
    • The Bible talks about not sleeping too much and being lazy
    • The Bible calls being lazy “slothful”
    • Jesus is not being “slow” in keeping His promise to return
