    Sorry for the bad drawings✍️😂 I hope it still helps you memorize hiragana characters!!
    Some of my drawings look stupid or don’t really match the letters🙏 These are just some of the ideas! If you can think of any better ones, then use it instead😊Making your own mnemonic is helpful to remember the letter too!

    I teach World Language Exploratory in the U.S. to middle schoolers (Junior High), and I used your video to help my students memorize their hiragana chart. They thought some of your drawings were a bit of a stretch, but I told them that this is just one way to remember. If they can think of something "better" then do it, otherwise, listen and learn. Your video was super helpful to my students. Part of learning is opening the mind to new interpretations and perceptions.

    I'm taking Japanese for the first time this year, and I watched this video so I would at least know something since I missed Japanese the whole year last year. When I started the classes my teacher was very pleased with my hiragana and how well I was progressing. Thank you so much for this.

    Hajimemashite Satous-Sensei,
    My name is Tina I am in America (California) I am half Japanese and half American and have some knowledge of the Japanese language. I wanted to write a book to teach myself AND others how to read and write Japanese Hiragana and then eventually make color books to learn Japanese Simple Vocabulary but one must understand Japanese Hiragana first. I found your video to be most helpful, I took screen shots of each of your hiragana character as well as your drawings (which I thought were quite good)
    I also liked your video because your illustrated the hiragana character inside the various illustrations, it makes it easier to remember if you can associate the character with an actual image. 😊 I also found your video to be helpful for when you are trying to write hiragana. Hiragana is difficult to do (especially for me) when all you know is the English alphabet.
    I hope that you do not mind me using your video in my book. I will be referencing your video as one of the sources for my book... I will be on your channel a lot because your videos I found were the most helpful for what I wanted. If there are copyrights on your content please comment on my post and I will adjust my screenshots as your wish.
    Again thank you for posting your video 🥰

      Thank you for your comment and your kind words! I’m glad that you like the video😊
      If it’s for nonprofit purposes, you can use my illustrations as long as you credit me (my TH-cam channel).
      However, if you are planning to sell things using my work, I’m afraid that it would be a corporate project, so please email me for the details if that’s the case. (Satou.nihongo@gmail.com).
      Thank you in advance for your understanding🙏

    Konnichiwa Satou sensei!! I love your videos, your hiragana mnemonics have helped me IMMENSELY!!! With the upmost respect/admiration, I have a few suggestions for hiragana mnemonics that I think will work well for Americans!
    For Ho ほ, it could be a HOagie sandwich instead of hot dog (“hawt” dog).
    For Ra ら, it could be LAp, because it looks like a person sitting on the floor, maybe a cat in their lap.
    For Ri り, it could be LEaping into the air, I see the first stroke as a person with their legs up and the second stroke as a swooping arrow indicating they’re jumping up. Or り can also look like a person LEaning over to touch their toes.
    For Ru る, it could be a flower bLOOming, maybe upside down, like the circle at the end is a little petal. Or you could focus on the LOOp at the end of the stroke.
    For Ro ろ, it could be you LOWered the nutrients/sunlight and killed your flower. I like that you have those mnemonics connected since they look so similar.
    Again, I give these suggestions with the upmost respect and admiration for your videos and knowledge. I hope you see that your methods have created very passionate students, eager to share what they’ve learned! I was using an app to learn hiragana but your videos inspired/helped me so much more! Thank you so much for everything you do!! Arigatou gozaimasu!! ありがとう ございます 💖

      That’s only because of the font types😊 Depending on the font types, some of the letters look a little bit different. The one I introduced in the video, is the one most of people usually use when they write down. If you search ‘ hiragana font’, you can see the differences between other fonts👍🏻 ( I want to show you here but I can’t change the font type in this comment, sorry💦)

    • @satous-nihongo-playground
      @satous-nihongo-playground  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of kids learn hiragana and katakana from parents😊 We use some worksheets with mnemonic pictures on them and listen to how the parents pronounce each letter, then write them while reading them out loud.
      Some videos with songs are often used too in order to make it more fun for kids! That’s how I used to teach when I was teaching 5-year-old kids class😊

    • @satous-nihongo-playground
      @satous-nihongo-playground  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Japanese, we don’t have rolled ‘r’ sound. Japanese R is more like L😊 For us, ‘lap’ and ‘rap’ have same pronunciation because both of R and L sounds are categorized as ‘ら’ sound. らりるれろ have flap sounds, not rolled tongue sound😊 This is why it’s hard for Japanese people to pronounce rolled R sound💦
