    Hi Steve, gday from down under, saw your first video on the DS35 , that made my mind up between the 008s lrf and the DS35, I ordered the DS35 70 rf from the Pard store about three weeks ago for a price of $1749 AU, received it last Tuesday and have been playing with all the features. Absolutely more than happy with the package,brilliant and it’s going onto my FX Maverick in .25 caliber as well as my big bore Texan in .357 caliber. Your reviews are both informative and educational, been following them for the past couple of years, keep up the good work. Regards Mark.

    Great review Steve, in depth with no doubt lots of questions already answered. Pard has been my go to NV unit, never let me down - has to be one of the best value
    NV solutions at a very fair price. TBO I was expecting the grand price range with this many features, would have to be the lower mag version for me.

    Outstanding review and technical breakdown - Many thanks! I was not aware of the having to move the box to the LRF mid position - so definitely learnt something here I didnt expect!
    Having returned the Sytong HT77 Add on unit ( due to failures within 3 months of purchase) I feel this is the answer I'm looking for - avoiding the unreal costs of thermal, in NZ prices!
    This Pard product looks amazing, and being a standardised scope mount, along with I have a stack of 18650s needing use.

    Have the 800s lrf. Think putting a built-in ir is not necessarily needed with today's ir torches. You could move the rangefinder in line with the objective lens and lower it. Think this would make for a more infective scope and better looking.

    Not a bad effort from Pard. I agree with your negatives. I have lots of 18650 batteries. As a fox shooter I'd rather not have the IR I prefer my laser PBIR. When they give us variable zoom, I'll get one.

    Great review, many thanks.
    I currently have the NV008P LRF on my HW100KT which has been an absolute game changer.
    Would you say there is any significant difference in performance been the NV008S LRF and the DS35-xx-LRF please?
    Considering a Pard for my S510 so the 30mm tube format would mount more easily with the magazine and rail arrangement.

    • @andrewmorrissey2423
      @andrewmorrissey2423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the 008s Lrf. Great bit of kit. The 008s is far more compact and keeps the weight back on the gun and is lighter by about 160g I think. The down side is the shimming and no eye relief. However once you have shimmed which takes 5 minutes it's done and no eye relief is only an issue on recoil rifles. The ballistics calculator works the same. Also the angle and cant indicator stays on on the 008s it kept propping off after a few seconds in the DS.

    • @Marcus_Shaw
      @Marcus_Shaw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andrewmorrissey2423
      Thanks for the feedback.
      With the setup in question issue isn't so much the weight as the height and balance.
      The scope and mounts already on the gun is 760 grams and with the existing 30mm rings the centreline of the scope is 30mm above the rail, which feels very natural and I'd like to retain that.
      My NV008P LRF and standard bracket together are 693 grams all in, but the biggest issue is the height is 50mm above the rail.
      I scrapped the standard bracket and cut a slot in a standard extension rail which brought the height down to 40mm however it's difficult to get any lower than that as the Objective lens has to sit over the mount instead of in front of it.
      Also lowering the NV008 that much would put the Objective clashing with the raised magazine so it would not be possible to use a sunshade.
      Weight wise the DS35 minus mounts is only 70 grams more than the scope that's on but would fit on the same mounts so that would vastly simplify things.
      The Cant switching itself off does sound annoying, it's one of the most useful features with NV where it's all too easy to pick up a false horizontal.
      Hope that's not too rambling 🤣 just thinking "aloud".
      Thanks for the thoughts 👍

I have a maverick compact which is awesome and a wildcat which is similar with a different shirt on it. I'm going to trade my wildcat MK3 in against one of these primarily for benchrest, I'm also considering an Airmaks katran long too but I think I'm leaning towards the red wolf 👍👍👍

    Best review I think I've seen.
    Future of NV with lrf and ballistics looks great now.
    Where is pulsar?
    A light avoid sounds good.
    I love the concept of atn and abl...but .had so many problems.
    I hope for 4k with lrf, ballistics and easy to attach aftermarket torch.
    Maybe even a safe pointer laser to help find foxes after they're shot.
    Would love to see some long range .but...you're air right....ok.
    Thanks again for best scope review I've seen yet...

      @@airgunology I'm a pulsar thermion owner ..and atn4k with abl.
      I love the ABL capability..but..I've had big reliability issues...scope freezes, scope goes fuzzy..3x abl units died...plus zero issues..which may not be the scope..but the mount I used..single lever qr...
      Also liked you can name your profiles in atn...and not limited to 5 profiles...also great you can immediately view your film through the scope
      Pulsar is reliable...but..atn has much better features and capabilities..
      So I'm glad to see someone else is doing ballistics...
      Hopefully pulsar catch up.
      Hopefully your reviews are popular and pulsar or franchise owner will lend unit for review in future.
      From what I've seen...atn 4kpro has same image quality as pulsar c50, without lrf and ballistics...
      Thanks again.
      Looking forward to more...maybe some longer ranges to show what scope is capable of for varmint hunters..
      Well done!

The old PARDs required a lot of IR to work, is it the same with this or are they managing passive operation on clear moon lit nights yet?

Had an early gen 1 tubed yukon before that but hardly used it so sold it back to the mate for the same price two years later. I see the DS35 stretches the image considerably, how does this translate to your point of impact when your aim is on the left or right of the target but just good enough to take the shot? Will it miss because you are already in the "stretched zone"? Hope my English is sufficient enough. Also does the stretched image mean that the height of the image is flattened? And if so, does the same thing occur when you take a shot that is a little high or low, will it miss target? This scenario will not be an issue for close range shots, but I can image that the further the distance, the more this phenomenon starts to play a rol or . . . the smaller your target (even up close) the bigger this problem becomes. What's your take on this Steve?

    @yullex3338 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello friend, my DS35 just arrived how do I measure the distance of the target during the day, since the laser is invisible during the day, since the lasers do not coincide with the secondary reticle, also because for each distance the laser is not always in the same place inside the lens! I can perfectly make the laser coincide with the secondary reticle, making changes in the settings, but in the various distances it is not always in its place, so during the day it is a problem for me to measure the target, especially if we are talking about a small and long target distance,
    Can you give me some advice on how to do it? Thanks again and congratulations for your videos

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do it due to everything you said. The only way this can work is if the rangefinder was down the middle of the scope which it is not. Set your target for the range finder to roughly the range you expect to shoot at and learn how it is effected. Try not to range the critter, rather the largest object closest to it, ie the ground or tree etc. at night easy as laser flash can be seen. This is a problem with all these types of sights.

    Im a big PARD fan, but I always raise the same complaint when it comes to Pards digital NV scopes.... TOO MUCH OPTICAL BASE MAG.
    Why won't they listen and bring out a 3x optical base mag NV scope?
    Why haven't PARD figured out why all the others have a lower base mag.
    It was 6.5x with the 008LRF I did try but sold mine after a month due to the narrow FOV.
    They could also do with bringing out a larger objective lense 44 or 50mm to increase IR light capture and improve the NV image quality and range.
    I can shoot out to 400 meters at night with my NV007V sat on the back of my 56mm objective scope when using a good aftermarket laser IR.
    Sort out your objective and your base mag PARD and you'll attract a fair few more centre fire users.👍
