Only the half dollars are 40% after 1964. That & a few select proof coins, but not any other circulating money. Just incase anybody sees this comment & isn't aware, the $1.40 rule excludes silver dollars as they have a little more silver than $1.00 face of any other combination.

Ideally one should be wearing gloves when handling silver because the oils from your fingers will cause tarnishing over time.
1964 and earlier are 90% takes a $1.40 of that silver to make 1 oz anything past 1964 is 40% silver
