    I used to weld with a flip helmet until I saw my eye doctor. He said I was a welder, and that I needed a new electronic helmet to save my eye sight. I can just imagine what burning and scaring this guy is getting using sunglasses...

      @@nigelparker5886 I double checked and the welding glasses provided today are still not rated for arc welding, only plasma (torch) welding, as they only go to shade #5.
      You also want a pair that seal completely around the eye with a foam gasket to keep light out and causing reflections and making the work impossible to see.

      Everything they are doing is a violation of heath and safety in many countries. Improper clothing, footware, ear protection, gloves, welding mask and ventilation.

      But their products are not as reliable as those made where safety and quality are mandated as well!

      The discs are likely plasma cut, and the other parts too are measured before this workshop. The instructions are likely "stretch it till it gets to the other end"

    I've seen augers made from pressed segments and from continuously rolled auger fliting. This is the first time I've seen it done entirely by hand. Wow.

    I have always wondered how to make a screw conveyor. These guys just taught me. I really respect the guys that do this stuff by hand, day in and day out.

      I know this place is India or Pakistan, and there all brick walls look like this, because the bricks are not perfectly cuboid, and they chip away from the edges, so it looks like there are gaps but the mortar is there.

      I saw it too and thought "Never assume that because someone works in a building made out of rubble, with tools easily mistook for scrap metal, and wearing sandles, that they aren't every bit as smart, and twice as resourceful as us guys with our well-lit shops and fancy, clean tools.

    absolute respect! Certainly such countries are in need of help, but nonetheless they must be given the utmost respect and not constantly belittling their achievements!Furthermore, we should not always set our standards and impose our techniques, because otherwise people can quickly become unemployed etc. They should only do something in terms of occupational safety 😂 The sunglasses are certainly not the best protection for welding 🤣🤣

    I thought the hole was going to be like 10cm deep, just enough to hold the bottom end in place then build scaffolding around the pipe and gradually hammer-spread the screw down. But the deep hole made a lot more sense of course.

      The material being moved will polish the auger and the life of the auger will depend on how abrasive the material is.

      An auger in that kind of a setup does not turn fast enough to shake anything. The design of this was first described over 2400 years ago, it does not have to look pretty, it just has to do the job.

    I made some like this in the USA about 30 years ago for a Pangborn shot blaster. It is hard work.

      It's welding not soldering...
      You know welding without a welding mask makes you bliind in time right? It scars the back of your eyes, doing permanent damage. I feel sorry for future welding guy...

    Check out the brickwork at 2:40. Pakistani bricklayers must include the worst in the world. Quality of bricks none too good either.

      These bricks are made in Klins, and aren't cuboid even when they are made. They chip away from the edges as time passes on however they stand. I don't understand how though.

    Was talking about screw augers today (in swedish)and got this video recommended. Im going to build 2 pieces that looks pretty much like the ones in the video. Except we have a nice workshop and better modern machines. Crap job but luckily we dont make them too often
