I've found that using something like white lithium axle grease helps to really quiet down loud grumbly machines. You do have to have full access to bearings to be able to pack it in, and it can be pretty tricky with shielded bearings like this machine uses, but ultimately I think its worth it.
I paid £100 in 1996 for a 600 watt model, a weeks wages was less than £200. I have a U2798 [1994]still going strong , bought 2nd hand at a local market for £40 to replace a useless Electrolux "The Boss" 1400 watt
I had the soft bag version from new and the noise it made was horrendous,so much so I only kept it as an emergency cleaner and got rid of it after a couple of years
A shame about the slop in that motor bearing but we guess not every machine is destined to be like new again. The din and that dodgy bearing didn't seem to be detrimental to performance though. It seemed to be drawing the workbench mat up onto the Activator nicely. Glad that this job didn't prove too stressful. We prefer our vacuum cleaner enthusiasts on the mellow side. Maybe just a hint of fluff on the shaft could be seen as a good thing in some circles 🐻
Turbopowers are good for carpet cleaning and poor for above floors
They are rather noisy too but I love them!
Great service Steve
No dirty fan machine is good for above floor cleaning.
