the second f1 race this year he was driving sims untill 4 in the morning the night before, then the next day he won the real f1 race. Crazy

Sim racing has a steep learning curve. It's sort of like 3 point shooting. Anyone can hit a three pointer if they have enough attempts but being able to hit 45/50 continuously takes a huge amount of practice. On top of that.. that's while practicing. Add the pressure of a game, the faster heart beat of the game itself and then having someone guarding you and it becomes even harder. It's really rewarding though, super fun when you get better. iRacing is great because you race at the people who are at your level.

£50 for cheap set up, £200 for around when get force feedback, I got fanatec that was about £2k and F1 drivers often use ones £20k and up

Neal, you can start affordable in the sim world, just start with a decent steering wheel and pedals, for a few hundred bucks, and as you are starting, you will not imediately start on the top level, so just get a feel for it in lower classes, there are plenty racing games where you can enter for free and see if it is something you want to invest in further.

there was one time when Max was in Toro Rosso (he was 17) and he was with a bunch of other people at an airport security. he asked if someone can help him carry this one bag because he brought quite a lot of bags and struggled with it. someone asked “what’s in it?” and max answered “my travel simulator of course” and i think Vettel said “mate why are you carrying a simulator when you’re an f1 driver?” and everyone was laughing at him. i feel bad for him because they all laughed at him and he eventually carried the bag by himself but it was quite a cute interaction, he’s always been into racing simulator or games in general. even up until now he carries them everywhere
