  • One of the crops we raise, is hard red winter wheat. So if I fill a few buckets from the combine, during harvest, or buy wheat berries from a farmer friend - directly from their own wheat harvest. I make my own whole wheat flour, using my Wonder Mill.

Barb, you are 1 of the most ambitious women I know!
I canned, froze & dried so much when my children were growing up. I,even, baked bread, pies & cookies. But I NEVER ground my own flours. Your not only talented, but AMAZING!!!

What I would give for a couple of days at 50 degrees. We hit 106 yesterday. I always wondered how this was done. Thank you for sharing.

I’m so ready for fall & winter. Summer heat is not my favorite

Yes ma'am. The older I get the less I like the heat.

I got hubby a mock mill for the kitchenaid mixer...haven't used it yet (he keeps buying bread flour lol) I bought some white wheat berries, and turkey red berries...he knows he can add gluten to flour to make bread flour...but is stubborn in his ways. I'm going to have to make a couple loaves for him so he can taste the difference. Wish I could eat wheat and rye, but alas am gluten intolerant. I did buy bulk buckwheat groats...and may buy oats to grind. I don't care for the grainy texture of rice based breads and coconut flour can be grainy too...might try running those through the mill a couple times and see if it improves the texture issue for me.

We just got a big bag of dent corn to grind up for cornmeal . It filled up two five gallon buckets.

I'm so glad you are doing this video. I have been looking for the video you made (I think) where you ground popcorn into corn meal. I bought some "white hull less corn" at a local Amish shop and was hoping to make white cornmeal. -but- I watch another video where the host said to use dent corn, nixtamalize (sp?), then grind it otherwise I won't get the niacin. I'm so confused. I am determined to learn how to make different breads.

Wow that’s so cool. So wonderful that you can do all of that preparing for yourself to not have to buy from the store. Especially since everything has gotten so expensive. I’d love to have a breadmaker again, I had one many years ago. When you live in an RV you are so limited on space. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you at Lolapaloosa again this year. 👍🏻❤️

Thanks! How do we make white bread. Guess I'm stuck with whole wheat? I'd rather make rye.

I use all purpose flour for white bread & rye flour flour for rye bread. I love the dark brown rye bread, it uses molasses & chocolate, sometimes strong coffee

@@theoldfarmerswife5915 can you sift it after the first grinding to get more of the 'all purpose' type flour that is less bran to use for white bread? Or just maybe get the white wheat berries?
