I almost completely agree, however I’d like to say there is also a correlation between calorie density. So to get let’s say 100 calories, you only need a single snicker mini thing, but you need two apples. So don’t go have average portion sizes for calorie dense foods like chocolate, white bread or stuff like that. That will make you susceptible to weight gain, as some stuff needs more moderation then others. However, you can have little bits, just regulate it more carefully the other things.
Not so much. We are all different. Some require different food, some require different amounts. I'm the cook in my household. The majority of the time I cook for 3 people. My self, my wife and her brother. We all eat the same food. My wife and I have had issues with our weight which we have addressed in the last 3 years by changing what we eat, but my brother in law eats 1/2 of what I prepare on a daily basis (so basically what both me and my wife eat together) and he is a rake. Yes, food does make you fat .. if you eat the wrong food or too much. However, the wrong food is more of a killer than too much. For me and my wife carbs are the killer, not for her brother though.
I liked how they talked about eating disorders and families. We don’t realize that the way we eat has a lot to do with what we’ve seen. Like I recently went to visit family and they were making fun of all the veggies I eat. My love of veggies is newer and I hadn’t seen that family in a long time. We didn’t grow up eating the way I do. Even my immediate family roll their eyes at me sometimes but a lot of my family has passed because of eating due to depression and I’m fighting both.
WOW, I would avoid those people. Luckily, my family are veggie lovers and at family gatherings I am always given the role of salad maker because my salads are fire.

Very true! I was given most of the control over what I ate. We were poor, so we had cheap foods. Which means I skipped breakfast and lunch most days and only ate at dinner with my family. If I did snack it wasn’t the best options. My dad stays home due to a disability and he use to say “I don’t need to eat, I haven’t done anything yet “ Therefore I tend to judge how much food I need/deserve based on if I’ve been active. I don’t always eat what I need. I don’t usually eat 3 meals. I feel guilty for eating. I was never taught but I’m trying to figure it out now in my 20’s having a mix of eating disorder. Mostly bulimia and Binge eating disorder. I don’t blame my parents. They did their best. And I learned how NOT to eat as a child and I’m figured that out now.
Same here✋ I have a lot of Incompatibility and I started like two years ago to eat completely different than my family does. Smaller portions, healthy, no junk food, no lots of meat, no sweets. I'd love to eat my rice with just veggies. Everytime I visit my grandma, she asks me: " What have you eaten?" And everytime I answer she's just like: "Oh, and where's the meat? And sauce?" Same thing with my parents. It matters me a lot, that they can't see that the way I eat is much healthier than theirs (big portions of everything, sweets, soft drinks....) and sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker....especially if it goes to writing :)

Gained and lost weight all my life. The only thing that has saved me is going plant based and no sugar. I keep in good shape that way. Sugar is in every damned thing, even canned whole tomatoes, it is disgusting how sugar/fructose/corn syrup is in everything! The government needs to get on these companies to cut the sugar out. In the U.S. however, it is a money maker to have obese people.
You know tomatoes contain natural sugars, most plant foods do. That's why the ingredients don't list sugar or HFCS. And, as you point out, one can cut out superfluous sugar quite easily.
The bit on diabetic amputations was so terrifying. My father has diabetes, he is going through something similar and it makes me so worried for him. Thankfully, it also inspires me to eat healthy and exercise, I will not have the same fate!
Loved this episode and I really liked Joanne. She has such a lovely, sweet and fun personality. She definitely lost weight and hope she continued on the path to get healthier. So great that Ross put on a stone! On a side note, the woman journalist who says she is a former anorexic looks frighteningly thin - she looks like she is still struggling with anorexia.

I do wish people would stop saying it's "Chinese food". I lived in China, you couldn't get any of the stuff they pile on their plates on this show except maybe the fried rice and even then it's much healthier in China because of the way it's cooked there. What you see here is actually a deep-fried western bastardised version of Chinese food. Authentic Chinese food is incredibly healthy and I miss it very much.

Apparently there are laws in the UK about not showing or advertising a diet below a certain amount of calories, I think it was 1000? Also, the show tends to increase the number of calories in superskinnies diets most of the time since they are aware that many people with Eating Disorders watch the show, and it's to avoid triggering anyone into being competitive with an extremely low calorie count. ^•^
I liked this episode because Ross (the super skinny) actually tried hard to finish/eat the food while in other episodes I have watched, the super skinny just pick at their food and barely eat anything. I get that they may not be able to but most of the time they don't even try but I liked that Ross at least tried to finish/eat the meals and he did well.
I wish folks would just be more compassionate. I always was underweight & people don’t get it, the signal to your brain just immediately tells you to Stop Eating!! It also makes you feel like you're about to vomit (and sometimes you do) if you push that signal. I am not a better eater because I have that signal, that is not will power, that’s just the circuit breaker flipping. AND when I Was trying to gain weight, it was Really difficult, it was actually impossible, you just get sick. Physically & that of course makes you lose your appetite. Now that I’m trying to lose a few ~5 lbs for the first time ever due to aging & decreased activity from buying a car, it gives a Tiny bit of insight. But I could never claim to understand (& certainly wouldn't negatively/so nastily) judge any other person. I very easily snack & dont even realize. I used to feel Hungry Much of the time, yet couldn't eat more than a slice of pizza. Yet now that I’m trying to lose a few pounds, I’m snacking absentmindedly & am never Hungry hungry, just get peckish & forget it’ll go away in a few minutes. It’s real weird many if not most people know these feelings for themselves yet are so judgmental of others. Its gotta serve to just feed ones own ego. But when it's at the cost of really hurting someone else, many someone elses-And hurting real information that Actually helps people, its Should be seen as totally unacceptable.
I use to go through a faze of not being able to swallow my food unless it was mush.bare in mind I loved food I just had no idea why I went through that faze. I would force myself to eat food normally but it never worked until a year ago

In the U.S. however, it is a money maker to have obese people.
Corn syrup is illegal in the UK 🤪
How did you go about quitting sugar?
You know tomatoes contain natural sugars, most plant foods do. That's why the ingredients don't list sugar or HFCS. And, as you point out, one can cut out superfluous sugar quite easily.
@@bcaye he/ she is talking about refined sugar used in processing foods , not natural sugar
Exactly it actually makes me really mad. Sugar is like a drug it’s so addictive so to put it in all things is just no.
Why is Jo on the show when her husband is twice her size?
Dr Christian looks ike the Grinch when he does the thing with the eyebrows
Bros abt 2 steal christmas 💀
I find these so motivating in my weight loss journey.
I’ve watched way to many of these....😂
Everyone has at this point😂😂
I've been watching this all week I lost count of the episodes 😁
And rewatched it🤷
24:11 me wow white chocolate
dr christian wrong lard
me ohh 😷
Right !!! 🤢
This was a nice pairing. They both supported each and did well. Hope their success continued afterwards.
Rest in Pece Dr. Lask, i hope someone is continuing his research (he died in 2015)
The bit on diabetic amputations was so terrifying. My father has diabetes, he is going through something similar and it makes me so worried for him. Thankfully, it also inspires me to eat healthy and exercise, I will not have the same fate!
"Alright alright put him down" 😂😂😭
*Wakes up at 2 am to consume candybars & energy drinks*
Handed skinny guy's candybar for breakfast: "Wouldn't have this for my first meal tho~"
Recovery is not linear, you kind of always struggle with it
commenting on emmas body doesnt help
Why is there a new fattest American city every episode???
Exactly.... There is a new fattest City in every episode
🤔🤔🤷 Will we ever know?
Maybe they meant one of the fattest cities perhaps?
Cause your watching them out of order 🙈
If you watched it on order it tells you that the previous one manage to lose its title because of all the health kicks it invested
because most Americans are morbidly obese so every one of their cities can meet that description
Hey boys and girls give yourselves a break stop beeing so critical and harsh to yourselves for a moment .You are worth your love.
You to ❤️
🫂🫂
thank you 🩷
How are they still surprised when the doctor appears when he does this every time ?
I genuinely wonder this like have they not watched an episode of the show b4😭???
Ross has to be one of my favorite people who has ever been on the show he was so sweet
Anyone come here bcoz of quarantine??
Lol, yes
I actually want some take out. Haven't had take out in 10 days.
Makes me laugh when they are surprised that the Dr turns up when they are eating in America. Its a key part of the show they should expect it 😂
5:53 looks like Gordon Ramsay walking out of the restaurant and giving a summary
Cannot believe Nancy the American lady is only 30!! 🤯🤯 I just can’t believe she is so big and so young!
"his Great Wall of Chinese food" 🤣
I don't think its odd to have a sandwich for breakfast, compared to people who have nothing for breakfast like me thats a good portion for brekky, probably wouldn't have the chocolate bar though
Especially when it's said by a person who still eats eggs on toast for breakfast. This is sandwich as well. You just choose to eat it with knife and fork.
Am I the only one,who gets motivated after seeing this show????????🍔
Same here
It seems eating pasta with bread is a common practice in the UK. This is one of the weirdest combinations for me.
Excuse me don’t you dare say that
Actually, it’s an Italian/Mediterranean thing. Bread with errything.
Garlic bread and pasta is 🔥
I think eating bread with pasta is a common thing most people do at least in America,Australia, Britain,Canada, Italy idk where else but l think it’s a you thing that you don’t like pasta with bread lol
@@lexiandsophia8755 in the country where I come from and also in the country where I live...nobody east bread with pasta...it’s as if eating bread with bread for us
@@xvslnx what sad place do you live in where bread and pasta arn’t friends 😢
I was astonished at the seemingly good shape Nancy’s dad is in. Why would he enable his daughter by feeding her all that barbecue?
I don't see how his diet is over 1k. I counted the calories and it's barely 500 kcal a day??
Apparently there are laws in the UK about not showing or advertising a diet below a certain amount of calories, I think it was 1000? Also, the show tends to increase the number of calories in superskinnies diets most of the time since they are aware that many people with Eating Disorders watch the show, and it's to avoid triggering anyone into being competitive with an extremely low calorie count. ^•^
@@samarasha6806 that makes a lot of sense. I typically watch this show when I'm struggling with my ed, and i never believe the skinny cal count.
I swear every episode "America's fattest town" is a different town
I love these two. Very civil and pleasant.
“Chewing and eating and all that malarkey” 🤣🤣🤣
I'm fat and ex even fatter and the first time that circuit breaker popped for me was when I ate a lot of fat.
Thanks for your comment it was very informative and insightful🤗
The hospital segment was graphic, but very helpful to see.
You can see drastic change over Ross! Especially in his face, he seems two times healthier than before!
Commentator says "a pitiful portion of pasta* what???? That was a normal portion
It absolutely wasn't.
@@Blueberrypancakes20 yes it was an appropriate sized portion. It just needs a side salad and a side of protein for balance.
Watching this makes me crave vegetables
Literally I go from wanting lasagna 2 a salad
"No need for chewing and eating and all that malarkey" 😂
I love this show because I struggle with not eating then after a few days of no food I eat and it turns into a big binge.
24:52 Me when I accidentally walk in on my boyfriend finishing up his "personal time"
Lol, I wish the prospect of going out for food was unappealing to me 😂
It’s okay to have it time and time not like every night
I wish I could be a part of it and get some assistance with nutrition and balanced diet.
She knew about the Corona
xydoit damn 😔
the rona rly hit hard
am I the only one, who want's to eat Dr. Jessen? :'D
Yes, you are 😉
Yes
Wahrscheinlich. Ich weiß nicht, ob Sie Deutsch verstehen können, aber Ihr Benutzername ist Deutsch, also ... Auch Dr. Jensen ist homosexuell. Lol
Haha 😅
Well also his hot spanish husband would love to :D (sorry for bad english)
30:35 did she just say virginia woolf my great aunt???
I use to go through a faze of not being able to swallow my food unless it was mush.bare in mind I loved food I just had no idea why I went through that faze. I would force myself to eat food normally but it never worked until a year ago
Loved her meals the most of the series along with the boxer granny her meals are healthy but portions were too big
I'm in the USA and love this show I live in one of the most overweight states.
I bet the "health at every size" people don't watch this.... doesn't fit their narrative.....
Indeed, health at every size is not the right mindset I think. But hey who am I🤷🏼♀️ as well as IE doesn't work for everybody. Some people need some guideline or lifestyle plan to get healthy
As a fat 56 year old with quite good health I've watched all of them, some multiple times.
My agenda is I do me and you do you, I'll even help you with any healthcare problems associated with your lifestyle as part of my job, without judgement.
I think Ross has ARFID which is sad because its not even been recognised
i think you may be right, he definitely shows signs of it. sadly AFRID is bot as well known and ed’s in men are even less recognised
What is arfid
I'm curious to know if the people they show from USA are getting any help. Because while they're aware that they have a problem, they don't seem to have it under control so how are they giving advice to others??? Too late for me but *you* do it sort of thing is it??
why does dr christian walk like like a ken doll
I watch this show every day while eating dinner 🥴
Oh I watch this every day instead of eating dinner
Sam Harvey that’s what I watch Man VS Food for
I just munchied out on a bunch of chocolate pie and ice cream while watching this show.
@@Tavat you can’t say you weren’t warned
Those patients with Diabetes was just lamentable. Type 2 is completely preventable and with the right diet, virtually curable. Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Stan Ekberg have great videos on this topic. Sugar IS NOT our friend.

I don’t think her diet is too hard to change... keep the poached egg breakfast but have it on whole meal bread, instead of a snack lunch of toast and cheesecake ect, have a balanced meal. Instead of take out dinner, make her one healthy Chinese meal.
Yeah I totally agree
(
Lol though I got a unhealthy addiction to whole meal bread cause it was a safe food for me but I broke it 🙂)
This is why you should ask your mum or nan to teach you how to cook at a young age.
I could barely ask my mum to raise me lmao
Nancy looks in her 50s, way older than she is!
he reminds me of the stick bug from a bugs life
How did u even come 2 this conclusion 😭
How is it weird to have a saddwich for breakfast?😂 That is litterally the number one breakfast food
I eat like both these people..
Currently trying to escape from my binge restrict cycle, I can relate..
I feel that way every episode besides the candy and sweet food, I hate that crap
this show has showed me what i did not went to become i was 220 pounds and with getting control of my eating and my health i'm down to 144 and about 10 pounds to my goal of 135
that is AMAZING im so happy for you!!
I feel guilty for thinking that all of Jo and Nancy's food looks absolutely delicious
haha the blur hat 3:54
3:45 - Dr Christian looks like he's going to throw up... same bro, same!
These people are something else! Sandwich for breakfast is ODD, carbonara with mushrooms is perfectly fine...
Ross looks like the prince in " The Last Unicorn " : )
Nancy took her chance by the fact the tv show was going to pay anyway 🤣 she stuffed that kart
i’m convinced a lot of the superskinnys have sensory issues so many of them talk about the feeling and texture of food as the reason they don’t want to eat it
