All very important points! When I hear you speak, I hear the same concerns coming from Charles at IOHK. Cryptocurrency is new to me, but I understand the BTC is 1st gen, ETH is 2nd gen and ADA/ Cardano is 3rd generation. DeFi, smart wallets, peer reviewed work. Charles talks about this ALL the time! I bet you would really like his outlook on the major concerns we are facing. One of my favorite long videos with Charles was about a week ago with the two Canadians on “Show Me The Crypto!” Love you Canadians, keep up the great work!
Hi Sun, could you try to make an episode about YubiKeys? While I do own 2 of these, I was really fascinated when you told us that you can store PGP private keys there - I only used them for 2FA.
Hello, I have been watching your videos for some time and I want to congratulate you for all the valuable information you share with us 😎. today I bought the little snitch application, after a period of 2 weeks in which I was convinced of its effectiveness! Thanks a lot for the recommendation ✌️
PS: a sticker package containing the logos of the OPEN source projects, which we use daily, would be exceptional !! I would be the first to order (facts)
PGP in the context of security has to do with privacy too. If you install compromised software because you haven't checked the developer's signature, how can you know it's not collecting your data? Thanks for the video!
Look I'm struggling a bit at the moment cause I've been working on a typeface for more than a year without getting money, so I can pretty much relate with you, however your videos are very important to me and I really appreciate what you are building here. So I'll give you a license of the entire font family when it's done and I will make you a donation too when I'm doing better. Also, I thought about your problem for a few days and I wanted to suggest you to take a look at Rick Beato's channel, it's about music so a different topic but he's extremely good in making money without sponsorships of any kind. Hope it helps!
Sun can we plz get a video on how to privately and securely back up our photos on iphone? I don’t trust icloud and dont want them in my business/photos.
Sun, I have been really enjoying your educational content; they hit on important and complex concepts that regular consumers, as myself, often neglect and overlook. I'm not an expert in privacy and security, though I am advocate. I believe in data transparency and governance especially with personal information. As a consumer, I should have control who/what entity I am opt-in into sharing and whether I have legal ownership over them. A question I have for you, Sun, from your perspective, are we very far away from having privacy and security focused suites that are consumer-friendly? If not, how could consumers like me contribute to moving that needle? I'm slowly and gradually moving away from traditional (and popular) tools and suite to protect my data, such as migrating over to mailbox.org, using Standard Notes for note keeping, and salt password with 1Password. The challenge I am facing is catching up with deeper and foundational concept that holistically create a private and safe haven for my personal data, and I feel like I'm constantly switch and migrating over one stack/tool to another. Now, I'm a little bit overwhelmed, to be frank hehe
Hi Sun. Excellent point. Decentralization is critical. Any thoughts on how a newb like me can spread the message? Also, I’m a fellow Montrealer and feel this info should be made part of the school curriculum. I feel it’s essential for kids to learn this early. Any thoughts on how we could do that?
I feel like it is actually impossible to go private nowadays, even if we take the most radical measures our carelless friends will surely compromise, no one's truly free and no one can actually do anything about it.
@Amadeusz: I think the point today is that instead of having everything around us secure and private BY DESIGN and that we would not even have to even think about such and require big effort from all of us and from someone like Sun, who probably might prefer to do something else in his heart entirely, but he has the knowledge and the skills to teach us and raise our awarenes, you basically get mainly the opposite everywhere you look, and behind the majority of it there is CORPORATE and INVESTORS interests or greediness for more money! I would love to live in a world where basic HUMAN RIGHTs like privacy exists and anyone who deliberately violates it gets jailed and prosecuted no matter how high his/hers position is, including the persidents, banks, psychologists, military leaders, police leaders etc. There should be NOONE be allowed to be the exception of it.
On macOS, you could look into GPG Suite (see gpgtools.org/). Btw, that is what ProtonMail does... that being said, I favor having addition control over the privacy keys.
Sun whether you realize it or not, you are making a big difference in the world!

You just explained exactly how I feel. I don't know how to use PGP. I need to learn.

Do you use Find my iPhone and/or trust them from a privacy and security standpoint?

Interesting questions… we could bounce some ideas. Can you please reach out via sunknudsen.com/contact?

I agree it's like pulling a David vs Goliath, but bending over backwards is not an option I am willing to consider.

Is there a mail client that stores the public keys of ones contacts, and auto encrypts ones plaintext with my pvt key and their public key?

@@sunknudsen thanks....

Private property is the basis of all freedoms. If you don't own it, you can't control it, and you aren't free.
That's awesome. CAN i use this in gmail?
Which aspect of digital signatures are you referring to?
Please come over to linux
