Warner Archive discs is a manufactured-on-demand (MOD) DVD series by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment , with the intention of putting previously unreleased catalog films on DVD for the first time. Each disc is made on demand so the fingerprints are from the person, from Warner Archive, who burned it.
@@kimba8387 The thing is, I have many of those WB Archives discs which are normal "pressed" silver discs. The set here is purple discs, "burned on demand ".
@MrCinemayo I wonder if the first round were on silver discs then became MOD. L7 Casanova showed me that on the spine of a dvd if the word DVD is in block print it's a cd-r disc and if it's the official dvd font then it's a proper disc.
@kimba8387 Yes I believe at first a small run of DVDs were silver pressed....then after, they were On Demand CD-R. I recall that was the case with the 4 volumes of The Bowery Boys back in the day, which is why I always ordered immediately!
It would be nice to get an upgrade of Stakeout on bluray. I have the og dvd so at least I don't have Rosie intruding on my collection 😂. Criterion is half off at Barnes and Noble this month so I'm gonna pick up that Val Lewton double feature.
Born to Boogie - it has a really unique Apple Films logo at the start, the sequence outside in the garden is shot at Tittenhurst park (Lennon’s home), and the conductor is Tony Visconti 🤓 Elton John also appears…. I’m a T Rex fan, too! Plenty of Beatle overlap, feels influenced by Magical Mystery Tour in spots.
hi joe, lots of fun pick ups! decent movies of all kinds, i have a couple of seasons of ''curb your enthusiasim'' always liked the series, but l also think it has run its course. thanks for sharing once again, take care, rob
LAURA is an amazing film in every respect and one of the best in the Film Noir genre. I would like to get the upgrade of THE MASK OF FU MANCHU. Slipcases are fine. I don't have any strong feelings about them one way or another. The only time I trash them is if they're ruined in some way. Most of the time I've picked up something with a slipcase at Dollar Tree, the case is stuck to the plastic case and has to be torn apart. There are no centipedes, human or otherwise, in my cinematic radar. I've heard too much about that particular movie!
I see this morning that Seinfeld is now out as a complete series box set on 4K UHD ($250) or blu-ray ($150) in time for Christmas giving. Intristed? Brown & Carney might be worth a curious watch. The Human Centipede? No thanks!
That sealed Brown & Carney DVD did not have fingerprints . . . it’s a certain sign of disc rot that will possibly progress and make the DVD unwatchable. Had some unpleasant experiences with this phenomenon, especially on multiple disc box sets.
I've never seen a Brown + Carney film before, and I can't even remember ever hearing of them. I'm curious to see one or more of their films. I always liked Smokey and the Bandit. The sequel has Dom Deluise, as an Italian doctor, and he has fun with the accent. Jackie Gleason was hilarious as Sheriff Buford T. Justice. I've only heard 2 Marc Bolan albums (one credits the cover photo to Ringo), and I'm curious about the film. Is there a documentary on the DVD, or only concert material?
Great pickups Joe and Laura is a noir classic.❤.

Good point about the fingerprints. Yes, I am familiar with the On Demand procedure, especially considering this item is from 10 years ago.
I have a few of those Warner discs. I appreciate the variety that the Archives series offers.

Hi Joe, Nice Pickups especially Smokey And The Bandit, Can't go wrong with that
I have the same Rock & Roll Hall of Fame set. I wish they'd put out more of those.
Copland was an excellent movie. One of Sylvester Stallone's better acting roles.

I am so tired of CURB!

Don't know if I like Seinfeld enough

They looked like fingerprints, skin lines and all. I was able to wipe them away, which can't be done with disc rot. But no great loss if you're right.
Funny how another steakout is on Blu-ray, but steakout is not that I know of

Apparently Another Stakeout has a Blu-Ray release but the original doesn't, lol why?
