  • Clips of my Shinkansen ride from Tokyo to Kyoto. Rode the Nozomi in the green car!
Funny story: I did not realize how fast in and out the trains are. They really only stop for a few minutes to let people off and on, sometimes longer (like ten minutes total) if it was the end of the last route so they can clean and flip the seats to the new direction of travel. Also when the trains come they may have the number from the ride they are transporting, and it can change after people disembark. So I missed my train! Noticed two minutes after my train time that my train number wasn’t on the board anymore and some kind English guy informed me, that’s because it just left!! Noooooo! I spent extra for a window seat and green car. Luckily with the help of google translate, a kinda ticket counter lady, and the conductor of the next train I was able to get a window seat in the green car of a train within 20 min of the one I missed!
It was a BEAUTIFUL ride!! I had no idea how close to Mt Fuji you get! Definitely recommend the window seat on the right hand side, if you’re taking the Tokaido line, so you get a good view.
