    How cool Bradley! I live in Escanaba and know a few people who work over at Bark River Knives! Nice to see a review!

    My Bushcrafter was never that sharp from the factory.
    I was kind of disappointed because i have never been that good at putting sharp blades on knives myself.
    But i like it overall.

    I was gifted one and use it for every thing, every day! I love every aspect of the quality and think if anyone is on the fence, get one...i am a hard user of everything and it has held up to every single thing I've put it thru....and I have a alot of projects and fires weekly and will suggest this knife to anyone and everyone! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Watching from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island in Canada! Cheers, Jerbs! 👍🏽🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏽

    Great review. I have the same knife and can completely agree...it's a perfect EDC knife! GO AND GET ONE!!!!!

    I've never seen a knife cut through a mini-log like that. Definitely a next-level paring knife! Perhaps have an EDC (!) work sheath that can get battered and then another one for more FORMAL occasions of box openings and such.

    Just picked this knife up for $179 and it's very impressive. Love everything about it so far.

    I have too many Bark River knives, and have never seen a rough spine. I do have the Ultralight Bushcrafter, and it is a great knife. 👍👍👍👍

    Buying a Bark River definitely is a roll of the dice. You win some, you lose some. It's a bummer.

    I have the bushcrafter, bravo 1.5, arora and a litin bro.
    These are very good knives but very pricey.
    You can't go wrong with these knives if you have the budget for them.
    Brad, ive followed you for a while now for pipe tobacco reviews. Its cool to see you review this knife.

    • @Watchmanonthewall77
      @Watchmanonthewall77 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should use a lether strap or paddle to sharpen the convex edge of these blades. I never use a stone on convex edges. If the knife is dull it will take a bit of time because of the toughness of the cpm 3v but once its sharp it takes alot to dull it.

      Thanks for watching! I still need to do a review of my Bark River Aurora Scandi. Great knives!

    • @Watchmanonthewall77
      @Watchmanonthewall77 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watch getting the exotic handles. My aurora has camel bone. Its nice but, the the swell that fills the palme of your hand is not there. So i called them and asked why. They said if they shaped a palme swell on the handles, it would cause the camel bone to chip. If you get exotic handles, at least call them and ask them what effect it will have on the handle shape.
      Looking forward to seeing your aurora review Bubby. I love your channel.

    I bought three Bark River Puukko knives and here is my only complaint!
    The problem is with the leather sheaths. The leather sheaths are rather short for the size of the Puukko. (The knife keeps falling out!) The Puukko's are the only knife I cannot safely carry because of fear of losing the knife... (Bark River leather sheaths suck.)

    Good review. I hate the term super steel personally. Some of the newer steels coming out are even more superior, metallurgically speaking, to 3v. CPM MagnaCut is like 3v but stainless! An actual tough as hell stainless. So awesome. So are those mega super duper lightsaber steels? It's steel. Great steel, awesome technology, but it's just steel.

    I'm stuck between the ultra lite bushcrafter or the mini aurora ! It will be for edc and I like the look of the mini aurora better than the ultra lite bushcrafter but like the size of the ultra lite bushcrafter . Your video may have just turned the tide tho . Good stuff

    • @stuffandthingsyoutube
      @stuffandthingsyoutube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the look of the mini Aurora too! I think the ULB has a thinner blade, so for EDC, I thought it would be more suitable.

    Get a kydex sheath for it. I've got a BRK Loveless drop point in stag slabs. A2 blade. Rough and ready builds for sure.

    Just so you know, Bark River does make their own sheaths now. That particular one is made by Bark River.

  • @federicouslenghi
    @federicouslenghi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Regarding the DLT's response , that is a lame answer. There's nothing easier than to put a sharp angle to the blade spine I should know because I do all my knives by hand. Saying that that finish is acceptable because is hand made is not good ad for artisans.

    I carry an Esee Izula on the belt everyday, a fixed blade is super handy

    • @stuffandthingsyoutube
      @stuffandthingsyoutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely! I like my old fashioned slip joints, but the fixed blade is just a bit more convenient.

    • @kriskabin
      @kriskabin ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too. For a fraction of the cost of a Bark River anything, an Esee is a great American made knife! I own several, including my latest, the darling little Izula. It lives around my neck. (No more folders for me. )

    Great hard bass gopnik tripoloski style!
    (it reminds russia which can be problematic these days)
    I would like to buy first bark river working knive, and hesitate to buy this, as it is a little expensive. I have joker nordico, and it is nice but when i look this one there is nothing to compare. Maybe i will choose benchmade puuko instead

    Love my bark rivers but the value has sort of declined over time IMO. Seems like they all cost $300 + these days. Still, they are nice and watching this makes me want another.

    I have 2 Bark River knives one has good fit and finish the other has a very crooked grind they will fix it, but the QC department is really lacking. Look at LT wright knives imo they have far better QC and just as beautifully made.

    Wondering.....why in the world would you buy a 200 dollar knife to bring to work just to sharpen a pencil or cut plastic. They make very good folding razor knives that do the same thing

    • @JoshTheElectric
      @JoshTheElectric 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a woodworker I was using razors everyday to cut my pencil sharp about 10 times. The razor would get dull and not cut a pencil good at all after maybe 1 day. Where as I can use a nice knife like a do now and it stays sharp for a month with harder use. I just strop it every couple days for a 20 seconds or so.

    I used to try and learn the knife laws but gave up. They're too complex and all unconstitutional. I carry the 5" Bravo everywhere I go

      I’m in my forties so I can remember the days of cops taking three fingers up to a pocket knife though..
      It still comes down to the officer ,In Houston (Texas)the cleanest cut guy can still be searched by police for walking his dog lol..So I really don’t go any bigger than that.The cops haven’t seemed to catch up to the new laws.

    Hey brother, so you know the BRK Bushcrafter knife. It has a skandivex grind. Now tell me how you TRULY sharpen a convex skandi grind. It is not possible. I'll stick to my flat Skandi. Tell me.differently that you can magically sharpen a convex skandi in CPM3v. No way you are sharpening it effectively.

    • @stuffandthingsyoutube
      @stuffandthingsyoutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Are you using water stones to sharpen? I can imagine it being very difficult with a lot of sharpening methods, but it's pretty easy with stones. You try to match the scandi bevel as you sharpen, but you keep the motion of your hands/fingers loose. This results in a nice, natural "scandi-vex.

    • @BoxcutterBushcraft
      @BoxcutterBushcraft ปีที่แล้ว

      Tell me you know nothing about hand sharpening, without using those words.
