At a tennis retreat in upstate New York, Scarlett meets with David, a helper of the house that she rented. Scarlett is alone, and her phone doesn't have any reception. When she gets reception, her calls are unanswered. When David says, he needs to stay at the glass cabin Scarlett realizes she doesn't have anyone else besides herself to deal with this unexpected situation.

Scarlett (Revell Carpenter), a tennis player, practices her craft at a tennis retreat in Upstate New York. She has rented a cabin made of glass, near the gym where she’ll be training. When she arrives, she meets David (David Mar Stefansson), the caretaker. Scarlett finds herself alone and isolated during an unexpected blizzard. Her phone can’t get any signal and when she does get a bar, her phone calls go unanswered. David returns after some time saying the snowstorm has closed the roads. He asks if he can stay at the cabin. Scarlett realizes she doesn’t have anyone to turn to. Has he cut the telephone wires? Is this home invasion? Will Scarlett go to the extreme to save herself from the attacker she believes David is?

@Connor Huffman I don't quite agree with you. In fact, a lot of times, I'd even say, most of the times, women are held accountable for things that they didn't do. For example, a woman going to the police or even on social media to tell the people around her that she has been raped or harassed, will often hear: "It was your fault, you shouldn't have acted this way", "I mean, by the way you were dressed, I'm not surprised you were raped"," you asked for it", "it's not his or her fault (the attacker), but your fault", "you are not a victim, stop blaming everyone for your mistakes". My point is, a lot of times (not always, of course, let's not generalize) women are not believed, they are not to be trusted. A man does the same mistake a woman does, and is most likely to get less harshly penalized than the woman, but that of course, is not always the case, keep that in mind. Also, I think you are making a very big generalization about women. Truth be told, a lot of us should stop making preconceptions, and actually read and learn about what's going on in the world, instead of just focusing on what we think is the best answer. In fact, a lot of people may not agree with me, and a lot of people may not agree with you, but by communicating, and saying what we think, like were doing right now, we can expand our horizons of new ideas, and create a more solid and diverse opinion.

That's exactly what she thinks is going to happen to her. The little things throughout the story point to her growing paranoia about who David really is.

I enjoyed it, but I feel like I'm missing SO much...did she just attack some poor guy out of fear, who was she trying to call and what did the tennis coach have to do with anything...I think I'm too dumb for 90% of the shorts Alter puts out lately, lol, since I have to wait for someone with more insite to come into the comments and explain what the heck I just watched.

Basically that guy was going to kill her bc he cut her land line cord and he knew she wouldnt get a phone signal so she went and hided and he saw where she was at and she stabbed him

Hello Renee! I am the writer-director of Glass Cabin. You are not dumb! I don't know all the answers as well. With this movie, I am asking questions to leave an impression.
Fun Fact: While we were shooting this film, the whole cast & crew got stuck in the blizzard too like Scarlett.
Moral: Even if you're a well-meaning man, be hyper aware of the effect you have on lone women, or you may get a surprise.
We're not entirely convinced he's well-meaning - in fact, the film shows he's up to some not-so-great behavior. The opening of the film shows him go to a cabin before she's even there. Are the phone lines cut? Why does he want to stay in the cabin with her? He's also supposedly taking care of the cabin, but only has to use the bathroom (and doesn't flush or wash his hands). Then he only tells her about the landline phone, which doesn't work. Something strange is definitely afoot.

If he is the caretaker, why doesn’t he have any keys? Why doesn’t she just flee in his truck after stabbing him? And, call later. How is she getting to and from her training sessions? Why is there sounds of a blizzard when the trees aren’t blowing?
What I find a bit weird, is the way he passed the window.. at just the right time that she had her back the window? Then! the very second the lights go out... he’s knocking, telling her that he has to stay there because the roads are closed? Timing is everything here!
She found Davith's approach a little too personal and over confident and Davith was probably trying to over compensate in servitude and didn't realize he was cornering an already fear ridden young woman who felt isolated and vulnerable in a building that didn't seem to offer much cover and protection. Glass being brittle with tiny fractures or imperfections, doesn't honestly offer much in the sense of protection against a physical threat.

*For those confused.* The reason they focused on the Tennis-Coach. Was to reveal to the audience she is the only one experiencing phone issues. *He said:* i spoke to your Mom on the phone...
Though it seemed random it was to reveal something odd surrounding this cabin and the odd man that used her restroom.
Him not washing his hands made her uncomfortable too. Maybe there is something deeper to this seclusion. Viral maybe.
She's renting the cabin to take tennis classes, and you're right - her phone is working but no one is picking up. Is she in danger? Is she being gaslighted? Did David hurt/kill the person who owns the cabin, and that's why they aren't picking up the phone?

YES!!! Also I didn't hear the toilet flush either. He said he was there to show her around and all he did was give her a password, which he could have left before she got there, and show her the house phone, which she could figure out herself.
Everyone talking about their thoughts on the short and I'm here just thinking how effen cold that cabin might be with all those windows and very little insulation and how she is just super comfy and not freezing AT ALL in there!?!

@@andril0019 Govt is taking precautions and prevention from coronavirus. They have locked down every city in Pakistan. Some biologists from Punjab University made some kits to cure from this virus. Well don't know is it useful or not because it is not applied yet But the Govt is doing something to stop this virus

If i was serious about the moral of The story here it would be not to live alone out in the middle of nowhere.
In fact on many Alter videos i use moral of the story on its usually followed up with satire unless i am explaining it directly.

Maybe I just want this story to have such a turn but I think the person that is trying to harm Scarlett is her TENNIS COACH - MICHAEL. This short movie is, in my opinion, a really interesting piece because it is based on so many tiny details and you can interpret it in many different ways. My theory might be completely wrong here and so it might be more about the depth of human mind and the feeling of isolation and solitude but I will just share my thoughts and findings on the short movie:
(Disclaimer: My English is not perfect - it is not my mother tongue)
First of all, once Scarlett arrives, she is trying to call someone but as we learn in the following scenes it is not possible to call other people due to the blizzard that has been going on for now and then. Next, she meets David, the caretaker of the glass cabin who is depicted as a socially awkward and not very hygienic person (due to the fact that we don’t hear any sound of him flushing the toilet or washing his hands afterward). We, the viewers, can see that Scarlett shows a feeling of disgust towards David in consequence of his awkward behavior I have mentioned above.
In the next scene, we see how Scarlett meets her tennis coach for the first time and he tells us right away how nice Scarlett’s mother is, something which seems kind of odd to me. In my opinion, this is the very first hint that tells us that this might be a suspicious person because no one in this area is able to call through the blizzard and I cannot really imagine that this might have not been the same case as one week before. Due to the amount of snow shown in the earlier scenes, I would assume that the blizzard has been going on for several weeks already, and also the weather forecast implies that the weather is not going to change much for the rest of the week. As the scene with the tennis coach progresses, an intimidating and creepy background music starts playing and indicates that something is wrong. In the shot at 6:03, we solely see Scarlett in this frame, talking to the coach obviously but he is not shown with her in this shot. Something again seems odd, especially with the creepy background noises and it emphasizes the unknown danger that Scarlett is facing - her coach. The intimidating music then fades away at the same time as Michael, Scarlett’s coach, leaves the sports hall.
We see that Scarlett cannot call the person she has been trying to call for several times already - is it her boyfriend maybe? The intimidating music starts playing again so her coach as we saw earlier might be close to the glass cabin but this is not the case. As the shot at 9:40 shows it is the caretaker with his “GMC Terrain” (I got this hint from another guy who commented and claims that he is an expert when it comes to cars). But I question if it really is his caretaker? - The music implies that something again is odd so maybe it is her coach? Or maybe Scarlett just wants to believe that it must be her awkward caretaker again?
The music keeps going, telling us that something is still odd and danger is nearby. In the shot from 10:09 to 10:55, we see that Scarlett feels uneasy and we see that the figure next to the phone has moved from left to right if you compare it with the shot at 3:53 - someone has been in the glass cabin, someone who also cut the wires of the phone. Right after Scarlett noticed that the wires have been cut, we see that David walks by. But I want you to question again - is this really David? Or does Scarlett just believe that it MUST be David without a doubt? And here again, I think that it is just her imagination and prejudice, instead, I think that it must be someone else - her coach. At 11:00 we see the car from earlier which is now covered in snow.
In the following scene, we see how the lights went out so someone or something must have deactivated the electricity for the glass cabin. Once the lights go out, at 11:39 we see tennis balls that fly against the windows of the glass cabin which implies in my opinion that it must be the coach. But right after, we see David appear in front of the window, saying that he needs to stay overnight. Is it him this time? But how can she identify him when she is blinded by his flashlight?
Finally, she runs into a shack and a car appears, this time it is a “Dodge Durango” according to “Agera” from the comment section. We also see that this must be a new car because it is not covered in snow as the other car was. So, who is it this time? Is it David? Is it the person she has been trying to call in the other scenes? And who did she finally kill at the end? There are a lot of different ways you can interpret the end but because of the hints, I found throughout the film I would rather suspect Michael, her tennis coach. As I said, I might be completely wrong and maybe I just “want to believe that the coach is the suspect”.
Anyway, thanks for reading and it was also really fun for me to write this. This was a really interesting short film that made me very curious. Now I should go back to studying for my upcoming final exams.
Most horror part was when the dude didn't even flush the toilet !!

i think the reason the “owner” didn’t answer the call is because He is actually the owner and everytime she tried to call he was always around in that area. so she attacked the owner out of fear.
@FRED THE THOT SLAYER she's a female all alone out in the middle of nowhere, that's motive enough for a murderer. he encouraged her to use the phone but theres no dial tone? the power goes out? he's asking can I come in, flashing the light into her face? she ran and hid, so his best bet is to follow her to the shed _in his car_ and open the door where shes crying without saying anything? Mmmmkay bc that's not fucking creepy

It's quite pretty, good for photos, i get that part, but at the same time it's too inconvenient and insecure. Literally anyone can look through the window and watch your movement in the dark. Even better, you can't realise if there's someone else because it's brighter indoor than outdoor. Having lots of glass walls without curtains like that is simply insane.

It's not her glass cabin - it appears she's renting the house for tennis classes in upstate New York. Once she sees David helping her, who likely isn't the person she thought she would be renting from AND she's likely calling the phone of the person who she's renting from - and that person never picks up - she gets increasingly panicked and paranoid.
Loved the entire bleakness that just 'settled' around this 360 degree glass doors and walls 'log cabin', (a horror-movie parody, no doubt of the typically cozy, snug retreat, set in such a lovely snowy atmosphere.). Add to it, some 'deliciously', creepy decorative stark 'art' of such treats as a dead deer head plaque--ugh!, , a decidedly cold looking statue of a man running......just running!...........and not a sport of warmth inside--unless you count that 'fireplace'!! And all those weird noises.....perfect! A most enjoyable thriller of how a well-done setting and even the appearance of a bland, ho-hum character knocking on the door....of a girl with no phone connection can, somehow------still have me seated on the edge of my chair, so nervous as to what was about to happen! And, to my delight--nothing DOES happen!!! LOL! Loved it! Well done! :-)

If he had to spend the night because the roads were closed, why didn't he just walk? She didn't have a vehicle so she walked back and forth to town to play tennis. If it's so far away that he had to stay i don't think she would have walked all that way either. That's a hole in the story right there. Not to mention when he drove up to her little hiding spot, the road was freshly plowed. He WAS a killer. He picked up the land line earlier and noticed there was no dial tone because the wires were cut. And he coincidentally shows up exactly when the lights go out? Come on. She did the right thing for sure.

The girl doesn't look happy at all and she always shows her doubtfulness. She must have encountered something terrible before which made her feeling insecured and nervous all the times. Can I say David is the victim ? 🙄🙄🙄
It is hard to know if David was the victim, or a stalker. He undoubtedly is up to creepy things throughout the film, and not really proving to be all that great at saying what his job is - to take care of the cabin. Why is the landline unplugged? Why does he watch her? Why was he coming late at night, the night she finally stabs him in fear? Was she just overly paranoid, or did David intend to do something harmful? These are all the things we asked ourselves while watching this literally and figuratively cold, tense short film.

yeah she's paranoid. and the guy indeed smells wrong since the first time, he just stepped into her house, using her toilet and didn't flush. what kind of people did that? all she might think was the guy wants to murder her
idk he follows her where shes hiding after seeing shes obviously scared and saw she grabbed her nail file. And then opens the door and shes crying. When you're scared and cornered you defend yourself.

You left the lights on so the battery will be dead by morning so what are your REAL intentions here hmm... Nope, I'd poke him thoroughly as well. Loved this so much! Absolutely great job to everyone involved in making this.
How does this channel only have 1.24 million subs?? These shorts are well written and produced.
I very much appreciate the understated style, with a slow pace, sparse dialog, tense sound editing, and simple but beautiful photography. I also appreciate that the ending is left ambiguous, but in a way that's earned, rather than tacked on with cheap tricks. I would call it suspense rather than horror, and if I were going to make such films, this is the style I would seek to achieve. This is a good one.
If she was right, it's scary. If she was wrong it's scary. Both ALTERnative consequences are equally terrifying. Good movie!

The background score is enough to scare the shit out of me. Its creepy and it successfully makes the entire film scary. Alter never disappoints. It's definitely awesome.

why was he out all day and left the car running , then decided to come into her in the middle of the night if he he not up to something bad. he is definitely up to something very evil. and she made the right choice. dear ladies or girls watching this movie, if you should ever find yourself in this situation, please do the same . because you might to coming face to face with a killer
He acted like he wasn’t all there. And crept around the cabin. I think he was taking advantage of being the caretaker by watching her. And probably panicked when she ran thinking she would just let him in. I’m sure he was harmless but in the middle of nowhere with no help you can’t take those chances.

That was short and not so sweet. Some people are saying it's over their head but I believe the film leaves you filling the blanks with your own interpretation. There's no hidden clues...it just it what it is. These 15 minutes rocked!!
I think he was just a regular guy. She was alone and felt vulnerable and it made her paranoid. She wasn’t portrayed as particularly likeable.
I felt like maybe her parents made her go there to practice. They're probably those kind of parents that are insanely hard on their children wanting them to excel at everything they do and living vicariously through them. Also why would you send your child up there by themselves and if you had to why not get some place closer to the arena?
Actually, David didn't ask, he stated; roads are closed I'm must stay! Thanks for letting us know her name is Scarlett; but who was she calling? What, she only knew one phone number? Only a stalker does that kind of sht. Where were her girlfriends or tennis mates? Something is definitely missing from this short and what real reason did she have to respond to David that way; because he walked passed a window unsuspected? Too many questions, not enough SHORT.
the point of the tennis scene was to show that the phones are working fine. Im pretty sure he was a killer.

I personally love this ending, leaving people with more questions than answers.
My review: as a horror movie buff I only wish that this wasn’t a short feature so I could get more of it.
The movie does an amazing job at setting up the eerie vibe in the beginning complete with closeups and wide shots the cinematography just creeps you out. The sound effects and the sountrack all contribute to the eerie vibe.
As far as the plot goes it is paced well; slow in the beginning the suspense keeps building up until the very end; ideal for a horror thriller
As I said in the beginning I only wish there were more details to be explored and it would have been a superb title under my favorites amongst the “cabin in the woods” subgenre; which is my absolute favorite alonside “hidden footage” subgenre.

Scarlett lives a kind of privileged hell. Her family is apparently wealthy enough for her to take private tennis lessons and stay in a glass cabin, rather than the more plebeian log cabin. But she is so cut off from virtually everyone, that it's a nightmarish experience: note the discordant, sinister soundtrack, even when she's meditating. Even her tennis coach is relegated to simply tossing her a ball to hit, instead of practicing with her on the opposite side; what's more, he leaves in the middle of a lesson. Our sanity often depends on regular contact with others, which allows us to reality-test our perceptions and to have a kind of psychological mooring when we feel troubled. Absent this, she really has no sensible, critical means of determining if David is good or bad. So she's subject to the determination of danger and the impulse to fight, coming from her reptilian brain. Finally, the following quote from Thoreau is apropos: "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work." Kudos to @Can Türedi, for a masterful piece of film making!

She had to be deranged already. Who never asks a question of a stranger who says "I need to stay all night? Worse,she sits in that huge cabin in silence. No TV going,no music. Just sits hour after hour thinking. That much quietness out of her is a ticking time bomb. Him? He knew exactly where the bathroom was..so he was as he said, some caretaker...you don't need to be an Einstein.

So, some of the comments (by men) about this movie are scarier than the movie. Damn. Regardless of the man’s intentions, the first introduction was awkward and confusing. Messing with the phone and going straight to bathroom. He then shows up at night, trying to come into a place where a stranger is living. Not sure if he was a “bad guy” but he didn’t act like a “good guy”. I’m not saying that I would have stabbed him, but everyone watching should agree that hiding would have been a wise choice, because his behavior was not acceptable, and you know you would have been scared. If the man had mental issues, he should not be a caretaker. He was clearly close enough to her to be stabbed. Sorry my dude, but personal space is a thing. Or would some of you have preferred for the “scum” (as you called her) to be the one left bleeding? How about we appreciate the complexity of the Movie and try to see the situation from multiple sides while still looking at the objective facts and considering the statistics behind some of these situations.
