you created this? thank you thank you thank you - it is probably one of my favorite games of all time. Absolutely brilliant design. Perfect. Chef's kiss and I've recommended it to dozens of people since I found it. :D
The rapid pendulum swing from genuinely clever and grounded to completely bonkers is so captivating. You can tell in an instant that this is the author of Bodega.
fun fact: so far, everytime tom has run this game on a stream or video, everyone's first roll has been negative, immediately turning one of the three mortal characters into immortal enemies. some of them have been inportant to the rest of the story (Lewis' french war buddy, Madeline) and some of them have never really shown up again (an immortal cat, an immortal donkey)
My head cannon for the ending is that Madeline all this time has always been searching for Pyrion, one step behind him. It’s why Pyrion could never find her! But thanks to the archaeologist and his curiosity on Pyrions life, it made Pyrions movements predictable and easier to catch. She’s been in pain for so long being disconnected from her lover - so close yet so far! Seeing him create a song about her, solidified to her that immortality IS a curse and she will free them both. So when she finally sees Pyrion once again, and as Pyrion opens his tired eyes he is stabbed through the heart and asks “Madeline why!!” And she proceeds to stab herself and replies “our pain will stay behind as we move on together” both of them die together leaving the archaeologist dumbfounded at the sight… however he had his reasons, he wanted immortality himself and he drank their blood and gained their powers and now he is the new 1000 year vampire!
It's funny how the beginning of this is very similar to Lewis's playthrough of this game during a stream. He was also a soldier who died and got resurrected at the battle of Hastings, although he was a Frenchman called Leonardé of Rocherdé.
I think, if you ask an 21st-century English man to roleplay a character for a thousand years, on average, most of them will pick an 11th-century English man. Not unexpected, but it does make me a little sad that all three TYOVs we've had so far have essentially started in medieval England. I hope the next time they play it, someone goes for a Roman emperor or a Mesopotamian swineherd (not that these three playthroughs haven't been absolutely fantastic).
1:12:16 "So I'm like ~RAHHH~ Manbat, fight my way out ~REEEE~ I'm flying to safety, they're chasing me in their balloons,, but I'm Manbat-ing away ~WAKAAA~" This NEEDS to become a short holy shit I'm crying
Sad that it didn't end with Madeline being the archeologists' secret benefactor, having funded his research to find her husband. Then deciding to take them both out by flinging open an opening to the sunlight, having been ready to go for decades, but only willing to do it if they went together.
God's damn Pyrion is _so_ good at improvisational RP. He doesn't just arbitrarily say something, it's all funny and logical and contributes so constructively to the overall story. Absolutely riveting. Fantastic episode boys, Tom and Pyrion have to be one of my favorite duo's in the Yogs.
Tom running 1,000 year old vampire for various Yogs is always a treat. Definitely a nice way to bridge a gap between various other series on the channel.
The ending of my heart: It happens exactly as Pyrion tells the story, but insteat of the archeolegist and just ending. He regresses to his old, mortal self just for a few seconds and wispers: "Madelin, my love, i´ve finally found you." ... then he dies, with crying Madelin over him.
damn, pyrions knowledge of history, and military history in particular, really paid off in this game. i love how enveloped he became in the character, and the way they altered history... i was totally hoping he'd become the man in the iron mask with the whole gunpowder thing, but the way he went about it was great! technologically advanced aztecs! but yeah, i agree with a lot of the comments about the ending, that Madeline would have been searching for him, and used the archaeologist to find him, to put both of themselves out of misery, rather than a blind, cruel, betrayal... HOWEVER, knowing how the game is played, perhaps that was just the luck of her roles, and SHE forgot how much they meant to eachother.... GREAT GAME, would 1000% watch this as a movie!
Pyrion has fantastic chemistry with Tom. I know Pyrion isn't local so he dosen't get to see everyone as often as others. So it's really nice when he clicks with other Yogs members. I think Pyrion and Lydia are fantastic together aswell. Would love to see all 3 together some more !
This was my favourite yet! Pyrion's leap into alternative history was brilliant - and what a story! A romance, a sonnet, a ballad, a meme! It's fascinating how similarly Lewis, Tom and Pyrion's runs started, too, but I suppose it's natural to start with the history you know best.
Pyrion is excellent in this, and all the other Mystery Quest stuff. I love how nearly everyone has gone back right at the start and had to kill their other mortal. Please continue these! I'd love to see what stories Harry, Lydia, Ravs, Boba, or really anyone would come up with!
The prompt about being caught in the sun is so jarring when you're going with the whole untraditional vampire thing. I remember feeling the same last time you played this. Imo it shouldn't be in there as a prompt. Great video though. :)
All the Thousand Year Old Vampire runthroughs are my faves, but man Pyrion just takes the cake with that one. For all the twists and turns, it really felt grounded and just awesome hearing it play out
I really like these 1 on 1 adventures. I am of course a big fan of the group adventures, but i feel the intimacy of these videos makes them stand out to me.
That was great! Loved how things escalated from blacksmithing false teeth in 1070 to starting a gunpowder empire to Aztecs in airships and early 1900's internet :D
So so good! Pyrion was absolutely amazing in this, as always :D I really hope you guys get around to doing more of these, they are some of my personal faves!
This video continues to cement the P-Flax-Tom duo as one of the Yogscast GOAT combos. Such good chemistry and I had an absolute blast listening to this.
Of the several actual plays of this game that I've listened to, this one takes the cake! Great job guys, loved every moment. I think this one deserves an animatic like Dave Thaumavore did for his own actual play.
I like how the intros are getting weirder and wackier hahaha. just finished this, it was beautiful, I love these thousand year old vampire videos, it inspired me to do my own with a friend who isn't into this kind of thing but they loved it.
Pyrion is amazing, I love it when he's in any yogs or exended yogs content! I love Bodega and I want more non-gaming PFlax. It's just that he almost never streams any games that I'm even remotely interested in.
oh this was absolutely brilliant! I've been playing this game on-off for a long time now, especially any time I need to create character history for WoD, and it is one of the most brilliant games ever designed. Never had a story emerge that didn't totally stick with me and shake me. But the story of man-bat and the aztec empire... totally 'nother level, well done!!!
This is perhaps the best backstory for BBEG ever made. i laughed at so many points and the ending was so heart breaking! 10/10 will revive as lich in campaign (with original naming).
Glad to get another one of these, the previous Thousand Year Old Vampire Mystery Quest was a lot of fun and I even went back to watch you do this with other members of the Yogcast.
This was absolutely incredible. I had been slightly disappointed we didnt get a spooky campaign this week but Pflax's creativity was delightful. Absolutely loved it
I can't hear anything being said because I saw a full glass of ice water sitting on a wood table WITH NO COASTER!!! You monsters, you absolute monsters... oh, the humanity!
I'd love to read Pflax's long form rendition of this if he made it. For how flustered he was getting under the pressure, he came up with some absolute gold for his responses. Aztec gunpowder driven lighter than air travel, phenomenal. Thanks Tom for making it happen. Can't wait to meet our next Hastings veteran.
Thousand Year Vampire feels like such a deep dive into the minds of whoever plays, i wanna see what some of the other Mystery Quest regulars come up with!
Been loving the Thousand Year Old Vampire videos, great job to both of you! I think it would be great to see Big Lyd's take on Thousand Year Old Vampire next, she could be a real wild card!
I podcasted this while driving and it's amazing! This game is fantastic and PFlax is a great player for the game! Also, I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME THAT THE INTRO DESCRIBES!!!!
So glad you did this with (other) Tom, Lewis, and now Pyrion! Inspired me to act as a guide for my bf to do a run of it and it's a great way to RP when you don't have enough friends that like RP for a more traditional DnD style game
This was, again, amazing ! Hope to see another version of it ! I would like to see how Lydia, Smithy or Ravs do there story of the thousand year old vampire :D !
I actually really am into giving this a shot. Also, worth noting that Constantinople didn't become Istanbul officially until after WWI. However, "Istanbul" was a long-held nickname for the city that derived from Greek, so while it was officially still Constantinople it was called Istanbul, or something similar, colloquially during this time as well.
I've binge watched/listened to the channel and now I have no more Mystery Quest to get me through the work day, how on earth do you expect me to survive Tom?!?
TYOV creator here: I absolutely love this play through of the game.
thanks Tim! we had fun making it. glad you enjoyed it.
I just bought this and will give it a go. Looks amazing
Bought the game and ran it with my friends. Had an absolute blast, thanks for making this!
you created this? thank you thank you thank you - it is probably one of my favorite games of all time. Absolutely brilliant design. Perfect. Chef's kiss and I've recommended it to dozens of people since I found it. :D
I'd like to buy this, but I'm a bit short on money at the moment. I hope I can find it once things get better again.
Pyrion is a very creative RPer, would love to see more of him on the channel
Agreed!
100% loved him in Call of Cthulhu back in Yogsquest
Did anyone read this as creepy RPer😅
He doesn't look a day over 500
The years get shaved off with the hair
The rapid pendulum swing from genuinely clever and grounded to completely bonkers is so captivating. You can tell in an instant that this is the author of Bodega.
Man, Pyrion heard “Don’t worry about the historical accuracy crowd,” and full-blown SPRINTED towards jet-powered Aztec dirigibles. Too funny!
I really like how PFlax's story is involves him saying how much he loves his wife.
And then literally cucking himself right at the end lol
Legitimately gasped when Pyrion had Tiny Tim draw the little portrait, such a clever, genuinely sweet moment! Love these!
fun fact: so far, everytime tom has run this game on a stream or video, everyone's first roll has been negative, immediately turning one of the three mortal characters into immortal enemies. some of them have been inportant to the rest of the story (Lewis' french war buddy, Madeline) and some of them have never really shown up again (an immortal cat, an immortal donkey)
Tom also ran one with Alex. I don't remember the full story except there were a lot of eyes involved....and also animal companions
My head cannon for the ending is that Madeline all this time has always been searching for Pyrion, one step behind him. It’s why Pyrion could never find her! thats actually how they met irl!

@xavierreichel8254 This comment aged very well with Ben's run!
1:12:16 "So I'm like ~RAHHH~ Manbat, fight my way out ~REEEE~ I'm flying to safety, they're chasing me in their balloons,, but I'm Manbat-ing away ~WAKAAA~"

Pyrion injects the perfect mix of grounded worldbuilding and chaotic ideas into the narrative!
Getting pflax and tom 1 on 1 action before the anual poker stream? Truly a blessed day.
Based on pyrions jumper they might have been quite close to the poker stream actually 😅
I'm pretty sure Lewis' vampire character became infected in the exact same way, amazing 😄
He also fought in the battle of Hastings as a french Knight.
@@sol_stapletonHeh, they fought on opposite sides 🤣
Not the leech lord himself!
Now you need Sips, as the third fighter in the battle of Hastings and the Triforce is complete. 😆
Where can I watch lewis play this
Tom running 1,000 year old vampire for various Yogs is always a treat. Definitely a nice way to bridge a gap between various other series on the channel.

I thought that would happen too. It's a very nice idea!
This is what happens in the hit song, but truth is a bit blander than the music : )
He still had the wedding band.
damn, pyrions knowledge of history, and military history in particular, really paid off in this game. i love how enveloped he became in the character, and the way they altered history... i was totally hoping he'd become the man in the iron mask with the whole gunpowder thing, but the way he went about it was great! technologically advanced aztecs! but yeah, i agree with a lot of the comments about the ending, that Madeline would have been searching for him, and used the archaeologist to find him, to put both of themselves out of misery, rather than a blind, cruel, betrayal... This had some crazy twists and turns. It's also pretty cool that Pyrion followed a vague timeline all the way through, great job!
I like how Stede suddenly just changed the course of history by fast tracking the exportation of gunpowder.
Yes. This is the best news I’ve gotten today.

Always happy for more 1,000 Year Old Vampire, any more would be much loved!
What a ride! I loved how it slowly became oddly goofy for a few centuries.
Tom and Pyrion playing 1000 Year Old Vampire is the stuff dreams are made of
1000 year old vampire is my favorite series on this channel
Pyrion is excellent in this, and all the other Mystery Quest stuff. I love how nearly everyone has gone back right at the start and had to kill their other mortal.
Please continue these! I'd love to see what stories Harry, Lydia, Ravs, Boba, or really anyone would come up with!
Wasn't excited to see another of these at first, but Pyrion Flax was brilliant in this. So invested in the storytelling.
Thousand year old vampire is fantastic, I could watch every member of the Yogscast go through this
I love how much Tom enjoys Pyrion’s improv. This was the perfect pairing for this game
I’ve watched all the vampire ones tom has done & i honestly think this is my favourite. Amazing continuity & the changes are great
The prompt about being caught in the sun is so jarring when you're going with the whole untraditional vampire thing. I remember feeling the same last time you played this. Imo it shouldn't be in there as a prompt.
Great video though. :)
Loved another 1000 year old vampire, it's great that even when the same things come up beacuse of the story it can be so wildly different
Pyrion is so great at making heartfelt and creative moments at the drop of a hat, seriously blown away by his improvisational skill.
Was so excited when I saw this in my feed, and it didn't disappoint. One of my favourite games, always love seeing it played.
Absolutely love the editing to Toms notes to not be blaring white, wonderful change to an already wonderful series!
That was great!
Loved how things escalated from blacksmithing false teeth in 1070 to starting a gunpowder empire to Aztecs in airships and early 1900's internet :D
Yaaay, Another Thousand Year Old Vampire. Love these
I love TYOV so much. Hope you guys play more of it on this channel.
I'm definitely going to buy this book solely because of this channel
hmmm Toms wearing a spicy shirt xD
Of the several actual plays of this game that I've listened to, this one takes the cake! Great job guys, loved every moment. I think this one deserves an animatic like Dave Thaumavore did for his own actual play.
I like how the intros are getting weirder and wackier hahaha. just finished this, it was beautiful, I love these thousand year old vampire videos, it inspired me to do my own with a friend who isn't into this kind of thing but they loved it.
This is so perfect. Love it when Good ol Flax comes down
Love these 1000 year old vampire one offs. It'd be great to have more of these in between longer series.
I gotta admit, this might be my favorite vampire adventure yet!
Pyrion is amazing, I love it when he's in any yogs or exended yogs content! I love Bodega and I want more non-gaming PFlax. It's just that he almost never streams any games that I'm even remotely interested in.

This is a shining example of why this channel is so good, superb RP chaps!
This is perhaps the best backstory for BBEG ever made. i laughed at so many points and the ending was so heart breaking! 10/10 will revive as lich in campaign (with original naming).
I love every single thing you guys do on here, but Thousand Year Old Vampire sessions might be my favorite.
Tom please keep having one offs of this game. I can’t get enough of
Glad to get another one of these, the previous Thousand Year Old Vampire Mystery Quest was a lot of fun and I even went back to watch you do this with other members of the Yogcast.
A stunning video. Thankyou both, and the crew. ❤
This was absolutely incredible. I had been slightly disappointed we didnt get a spooky campaign this week but Pflax's creativity was delightful. Absolutely loved it

Thanks Tom for making it happen. Can't wait to meet our next Hastings veteran.
I loved this as much as the first one, and Pyrion did a fantastic job of on-the-fly storytelling! Very entertaining, very fun, thanks for making it!
Can't believe Pyrion created Aztechnology from Shadowrun!
Always great to see a mystery quest upload
I had to give this a thumbs up just for Pyrions Greggs jumper! Class!
Loved every minute of this. Pyrion was creative, descriptive and slotted in some nice history tie-ins. Pleasure to watch!
The Tiny Tim drawing was so wholesome
The Spanish Armada, its famous date, is fifteen hundred and eighty eight - little memory trick for you there
Just noticed the Christmas Jumper lol Toms been keeping this one for a rainy day
Not actually, Pyrion replied to someone else's comment concerning this. He just 'doesn't give a shit'
@@flacotaco8743thats insane lol
That intro music was legit, lol. Appreciated
Always enjoy a thousand year old vampire video! Hope to see more in the future, has got to be one of my favorite mystery quest series :)
Wow! This was wonderful and beautiful and I laughed and nearly cried a couple times and experienced a LOT of goosebumps. Well done
Thousand Year Vampire feels like such a deep dive into the minds of whoever plays, i wanna see what some of the other Mystery Quest regulars come up with!
Pflax is a gem this was so good
Been loving the Thousand Year Old Vampire videos, great job to both of you! I think it would be great to see Big Lyd's take on Thousand Year Old Vampire next, she could be a real wild card!
Just getting around to this but @PyrionFlax is an incredible storyteller. I would love to see him in even more of these.
I love this! Hopefully we'll see Simon or Lydia become a vampire next
Amazing stuff. Great storytelling! The dream team and no star wars talk!
I really enjoy these. I've not experienced many types of RPGs like this so seeing them play out is fun and informative.
That was just amazing, thank you guys!
Loving these Thousand Year Old Vampire videos and Pyrion had some amazing ideas!
This was, again, amazing ! Hope to see another version of it !

Loved this! Such a great game and Pyrion has been an excellent vampire!
This is probably the best mystery quest video yet
These are great, would love to see more runs of the game
That was amazing. What a ride! Love those technology advanced aztecs!
Man bat hunted across the sky by gunpowder propelled Aztec airships - that's the movie trailer / poster scene right there.
My Friday just got even better
I've binge watched/listened to the channel and now I have no more Mystery Quest to get me through the work day, how on earth do you expect me to survive Tom?!?
YES. This is just what I need in my life right now (it's been a shit week). Thanks boys ❤
We need Lydia and Simon to play this too! This is so amazing
Really fun episode. Pyrion was great. Hope Tom gets another guest on to play Thousand Year Old Vampire.
This will be stuff of legend…
There's a song by Winger called "Madeline", pretty sure Kip Winger is a vampire.
Pretty sure that opening was for Metal Quest...
