only when you apply Phd. the professor will see ur 10th,12th and btech %age but if you have worked on a good project & also have extraordinary skills academic marks doesn't matter much..

If u have CS branch then only everything is safe....then what the hell other branches are doing...when at the end only coding is required. Atleast there should be higher packages for other branches...those do their field study as well as coding. :(
M.Tech in civil is worthless even in IIT's. If you are interested in teaching then only go for M.Tech and PhD in civil. Placement package is very less.

If u have good cgpa like above 8.5 core companies comes question are purely non technical.....I was asked like do you know any senior or do you know any on going project at Tata Steel and how a wood floating acts as a beam. CTC offered was like 15lpa with 12lpa as base pay it will increase once you have experience. But I rejected as I got into product base company with 30+lpa CTC yes I am from civil engineering.....if you want more than 12 lpa after joining iit start coding as simple

I think for civil engineering pg construction management course from rics sbe amity University is much better than mtech from iit. Placement is also good because their network is good. And average package is 7 to 9 lakh per annum.
Just check what all IITs accept Electrical B.Tech into CS M.Tech. Because, not all IITs accept, Mech or Civil B.Tech grads (and few others non IT branch ..) directly into CSE M.Tech (Even after having good CS GATE Score). You can check this information in the brochures of respective IITs. As far as I know, electrical and ECE are suitable branch, there should not be any problem regarding admission with a good Gate Score. Once you get into IITs as M.Tech, there will not be any problem during placements (due to your B.tech degree).
