If you are watching thanks for letting me watch the train controls.

This is truly a great video ! I don't think I've ever seen any other videos of the engineer at the controls operating Caltrain. There are a lot of Caltrain videos with the railfan window up front, but definitely not many around showing the people actually behind the controls. Awesome stuff !
Thank You
No problem ! I subscribed too ! :)
@@BrentNguyen46 thank you
WE USED TO RUN THESE CAB CARS ON THE CHICAGO N ORTH-WESTERN . RODE VERY GOOD. RAN AS AN ENGINEER FROM 1965 - 1987. MISSM Y JOB. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ! !! !!!
Did your Keyboard had a Stroke or something? Why does your comment look like that?
Gotta admit that this is pretty cool! Nice to see the engineer allowing you to join him
Hey, thanks!
Train Sim World cannot replicate the awesome background sound. This was awesome.
Yes, in the game car is not shaking so much. I always wonder how that "brick" sweeps trhough the air at 79MPH.
The TSW Gallery cars sound exactly like that.
@@anthonypecoraro5472 the fact that you are 100 percent wrong
Yeah raw doesn’t have tea test in gallery cars only in bi levels
There's a train sim that has realistic Amtrak and NJ Transit routes but I mostly use Trainz, I'm mostly using 2019 now, and also have 12, TANE, 22, and a free year of 22 Plus which is normally a subscription. I live on the east coast in eastern PA but I have two female cousins in California, one of them owns a restaurant in SF with her husband, and their parents moved to northern CA they lived in San Jose before and Los Gatos before that. My uncle was my late father's brother, he also had three half brothers who are living. My father passed March 8, 1986 and I lost my mom June 14, 2022 in the hospital because her lungs got worse and they had her on a vent for several days. I never went to California or west of Ohio.
Champs! Finally I see now any other videos of the engineer at the controls Caltrain. Love to watch Videos!! 🤟
Very fortunate the engineer allowed this. I sure hope you thanked him.
Wow those guys get slammed around in those cab cars.
Idk if engineer Jesse still works for Caltrain, I loved him he always gave horn shows!
Is That His Name?
Actually Its Spelled “Jessie”
You're lucky to have such privilege to get great video footage of the cab. Very rare to even see videos like this. Keep going. 👍👍
More to come!
Train Sim World 2 got the wind whistle down right on this.
Is this cab car in tsw ?
Looks cozy in there!
That's the same cabcar I honked! 4025
Thats awesome!
Thanks!
Teasing that PTC, riding the yellow banner!
No kidding!
Great video well done!
Thank you very much!
It is weird watching U.S. cab rides versus Euro rides. The Euro rides are really quiet. You don't have people chattering on the radio. Everything is fairly automated and the rides are smooth and quiet. These rides sound like you are driving a truck down a state road in need of some maintenance.
Smaller than I imagined it would be in that gallery cab.
This is a really amazing video, I was enjoying the sounds of the train & that flat spot I started hearing. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience, Awesome Engineer.
Thank you very much!
Funny...I logged in after having read Coaltrain....hehe...looking at Speedo at almost 80 mph....saying to my self..that one friigen fast Coaltrain...
Guessing same stock as Chicago Metra. Even the door closing, except for the voice.
I noticed it too that the door chime was the same
wow the cab looks a lot different ( updated ) and the door chime voice is a lot different than what i am used to. then again, i am from New York, and the only experience with Caltrain i have is thru Train Sim World and TH-cam. props to you and this engineer for making this happen.!
upgraded cabcars have this cab setup
@@oct197. ahhhh that makes a lot of sense. thanks for clarification.
Those cars are the same model of cars used on the Chicago Metra. 1985 Nippon Sharyo Gallery cars.@YeOldeGeezer
Great catch wow!!
Glad you enjoyed
Great career!!!!!
Yup
the cockpit seems updated these days
Excellent video, but holy moly those cab cars sure are noisy and look rough to ride in.
Sadly, as of recently, these cars have been retired from Caltrain along with the EMD F40PH-2 and 2CAT locomotives, but thankfully these cars are memorialized by TH-cam (as well as Train Sim World for anyone that's familiar with that game series)
Interesting to see an engineer at work. Just a shame that the view outside to the front is a bit restricted, but ok, you can not do anything about that. Did I check it correct that the engineer calls the dispatcher at every signal to say the aspect it is showing? Thanks for sharing.
I hope that engineer is ready to drive the Stadler Kiss. because goodbye F40PH and Nippon Sharyo cab cars.
He could also operate the MP36 locos and Bombardier cab cars
Tem um som de vento na cabine quando aumenta a velocidade, muito legal.
The reason this happens is because in the very front there is a door on the first floor, which has a small lock on it, which the wind passes through causing a howling noise, it may also be because the drivers window is open
That is spectacular! Great catch! Awesome! Wow!
Glad you liked it!
Breathtaking scenery? Looked like a ride through an industrial area.

5:28 I’m still laughing on how shaky it is, my buddy rode a gallery and said they feel like they are about to fall apart and I never believed him, but now I do.
I'm late to your channel but love the content and the Caltrain videos. The FP40CAT and Gallery cabcars are some of my favorites.
Thank you and the engineer. 👍👍
Awesome stuff, I would know how to drive a train one day, it's communication with signallers and stuff I'm Tough with lol! Awesome cab ride though!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Then lets say it right. / you run a train. Pilot a plane / pilot a vessel. Fly a R/C. Plane. Drive a car / bus / truck . Tracks drive train, or. Steer....direct .
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Every kid wants to grow up to drive trains for a living. I know I did. But to get job that permits a normal social and family life while not destroying your health is nearly impossible. Whatever they pay, its not enough unless you want to be married to the railroad or transit system. If you are young enough to do it early in your career and then earn promotions, maybe ok though.
Thanks for posting, you never see the inside of a cab.
That is true
Should have placed the camera more right so that we can see more outside.
I was holding up very heavy red cam, so that’s why I put it on a tripod and it was a loaner camera that I was testing out so that’s why
I'm subscribed
Thanks

Awesome 😎
Thanks 🤗
@@Orlando_Rails you're very welcome 😉
Siiiiick
Track quality looks awful!
What is that monitor on the left side of the windshield showing?
Speed and elevation
PTC
@@Orlando_Rails Why would the engineer need elevation? He’s not flying….
@@centralcaliforniarail maybe he meant the grade?

Gallery Cabcar
Fun!
So sad to see people who gave in to that ridiculous masking.
Why don't train drivers use headset for communication?
Well, if they have headsets, they can use them to listen to music which might be considered a distraction
@Orlando_Rails Why?
Poor guy having to wear a face diaper. Cloth woven so tightly it stops viruses but let’s oxygen pass. It’s a miracle.
Perhaps it is his choice. Perhaps he is recovering from a cold. Its nobody's business but his own and doesn't care for your judgement or pity.
This was back in 2021 masks were mandatory on the train
Was this a L3 cab ride?
Yes
What time was this?
11pm
my dumbass thought this was a simulator setup
lol
Where does the conductor sit?
The conductor works in the passenger cars checking tickets, working the doors, and monitoring the overall operation of the train.
@@ckildegaard dose he get paid more?
@@ckildegaardactually theres a fare inspector inside the train
5:20 that's a bit bumpy
😂 yeah
What’s the mask for?😂😂😂
The pandemic and thats not funny you wouldn't be laughing about it if ya were forced to have a mask on in restaurants or cruises or traveling by bus planes or train or even to attend classes

Why do US Train drivers have to keep talking to Dispatch every 2 mins? Aren't they following the Signals? & Can't Dispatch see exactly where they are on their panel or screen? & why are the radios like CB not secure digital radios like they have had in Europe for decades? US Commuter rail is so antiquated!
That’s a really good question.. I don’t know the answer
It’s necessary for engineers to call signals especially on commuter lines like this because yes the dispatcher knows pretty much exactly where the train is but now also do other trains and possibly work crews on the tracks ahead. It can seem a little redundant but it is for awareness and safety especially during the rush hours as Caltrain often has several trains running right behind each other.
@@average_joe8905 thanks
@@average_joe8905 Compared to Western Europe, US Commuter rail is just backwards & weird.
@@MrSeebsy Guess that's what happens with privately owned rail companies 🤷
I know that guy. Can’t run for shit. Lmao. JK.
Looks so outdated and unprofessional compared to Japanese train and it's drivers👎🤣🥶
