Should have suggested that anyone with a seat in front of them should offer to swap with the scammers. Planes, theatres, they are creeping in everywhere.
She's the selfish one, not you. No way you had to give up your seat. Also, not only were they taking your seat, but the seat of the person beside you who's seat they also took.
I am acutely aware of the context in which the girl says, "it's not a big deal". I am willing to bet that she commonly uses that phrase in reference to someone giving up something of value for her, but never in reference to her giving up something of value for someone else. If it was not a big deal, they wouldn't be in his seat. If it was not a big deal, they would have moved when he is asked, instead of making it a big deal. His proper response, the minute she used that phrase, should have been, "yes, I know it is not a big deal, which is why you are not going to make a big deal about it and give me my seat".
The theater where I once worked was VERY firm that you could only sit in the seat you paid for. Some switching within a section, if the rightful ticket holder weren't there, but no upgrading by moving.
As Beth Dutton said to the woman filming her in the clothing store, Lady, you crave drama. You just don't want any resistance. If the folks behind you felt so strongly, let 2 of them give up their seats.
I believed this story ... until OP claims the other folks were calling OP selfish. That is not my experience at all. Most folks do not approve of people butting forward rudely.
If you had moved, you would have been in someone else's especially purchased seat. Those two were basically thieves who got called out. None of your neighbors offered them theirs.
If I had been in your shoes I would have done the same thing. You paid for that seat. You were entitled to it. They are the a-holes for insisting you let it go and refuse to move from seats they didn’t pay for.
you would be amazed! yes, if people don't show, others nibble - but the second they arrive, you vacate, but not today! everyone's an ahole about everything
If the seats were all good then why did the boyfriend and girlfriend not want to move? Also, when someone muttered that OPruined the vibe, OP should have immediately explained how he loved this band and how it meant so much to him that he spent more to get a great seat. And, if it bothered them so much, they were welcome to switch seats with the boyfriend/girlfriend
If my ticket says that it's MY seat, then hell yes, you're moving and I'm sitting there.
You paid for the seat. You sit in the seat you paid for. The people behind you were rude. Turn around and say you give them YOUR seat.

If all the seats are good, then why dont THEY sit farther back.
Bingo!
Oh please. NO ONE who paid that extra $100 for a front row seat is going to tell you that you should've just let them stay. What a bs story
when the the guy behind you made his unsolicited comment, you could have suggested he give his seat to her.

How dare your friends think you did wrong 🤬 if I had paid extra no not even extra I would still take the DAM SEAT I PAID FOR

You get the seats you pay for.
NTA!
You should have told the judgy people to trade with the entitled couple.
No. NTA! They were TA for trying to steal your seat!

Should’ve told the people behind you to mind their effing business.

Keep your seat
Absolutely not. You had every right to sit in the seat you paid for. The other couple were the AH for saying it wasn't a big deal. It is a big deal.
Absolutely not. Why didn't they guy behind you give his up? I wound have asked him that.
If the concert was reserved seating, how were you going to just sit in someone else’s seat?
you would be amazed! yes, if people don't show, others nibble - but the second they arrive, you vacate, but not today! everyone's an ahole about everything
You didn't overreact at all. That was such a shame as your experience of the gig was tainted by the atmosphere the couple caused. 😢
NTAH. Your money,your seat.
