I guess the lyrics make reference to the terrible experience of disease Aaron Staithorpe's daughter went through in the recent years, devastating her father, among others... it breaks my heart so much, as a father of a 3 year old little girl myself, to imagine the loss of our dearest little ones. Thank you for this intense and beautiful piece of music.
Sounds like 90's My Dying Bride.. Very, very sad and emotive.. I couldn't possibly begin to imagine the pain, as a Father, of what Aaron has gone through even though I have Cancer
Good song. Glad to know Aaron's daughter survived that awful disease. Can't even imagine what it is for a father to go through that but the lyrics give me a short glimpse. Glad it's over.
Love this song and vox because I know how it is to have a loved child suffering under cancer! I wish you only the best for your little princess Aaron! Greetiongs from Vienna.
First time I heard that "lay not thy hand upon, lay no hand on my daughter", I couldn't hold back tears. I have two kids (one of each) and damn did that line tug at the heart strings.
A band that have experimented with their sound throughout their career but have always stood out for their ability to make the saddest songs sound so beautiful.
I cannot imagine how hard is to see that person, the one you'd give your life for, so fragile while you can't do anything to help it. May Aaron's daughter live a full and healthy life as well as others daughter and son fighting these dreadful diseases.
When I first heard this on Spotify last week. I legit had to pull over on the side of the road. Because I was crying at how sad and beautiful this song is. So tragic. But great for Aaron that his Daughter is doing better. No parent should have to go thru that. Edit: I'm now a first time dad to a beautiful baby boy, this song still gets me emotional. Love it.
This is a very important song, In my long years listening to my dying bride I've never experienced something like this before while listening to them, I am a father right now and this song changed me and touched me in a very deep way, to a total point of tears. I send my best energies to all the parents going through such gruesome situation like the one described on this track.
the guitars from 1:22 to 1:50 give the song such meaning and emotion. and the background riff throughout keeps you hooked. I think Andrew has outdone himself with this album
I don't know what some people have heard from MDB all those years they make music!!! But this is some classic MDB song with a bit different vocal lines!! WHAT I EXPECTED FROM THEM!!! Proper DOOM metal songs!! Thank you MDB!!!
@@mkinne3121 i agree that MDB can be "repetitive" to a point but it is normally in service of atmosphere. While i like this album it did feel quite repetitive at times which just seemed to lengthen the track rather than inspire a mood. Not a bad album, still a very high 6 or low 7. Its good, just not great.
A pain that I know all too well. A very good friend of mine from work nearly lost her son to cancer (osteosarcoma to be more precise) but he pulled through and has now gone on to become a star in the England Physical Disability cricket team.
This song hits different for me. I had this song playing the moment I found out my dad had passed away. That was July 29th this year. 2020 has been quite the shit show on its own with covid and all that. My dad and I didn't exactly have an amazing relationship either. Haven't heard the man's voice since I was 13. I like to think he and I made peace with his passing though. I can't really explain how but it feels that way.
Amazing, I can’t stop listening to this one, simply beautiful. The lyrics are so powerful, and so real, his pain is truly felt through his words... my deepest and most sincerest of condolences. Such mournfully honest and pure lyrics, and the melody does nothing but perfectly amplify the emotional message all that much more, fantastic piece.

Wow, this just brought tears to my eyes, knowing and feeling the pain you went through, Wishing strong health to everyone who is struggling through this. ❤❤
Beautiful song. I respect the hell out of this band and I can only imagine the pain of losing a child. I'm a father of two boys and that is any parents worst nightmare. Maybe it is helpful to Aaron to sing about this and I really respect him for having the courage to do so!! MDB has such powerful music and I can't wait for this album \,,/,
@@alazorn6665 this is you Aaron? I thought I read she made a full recovery, sorry for the misinformation. Hope she's doing well! As a side note, thanks for all the music over the last 30 years!
The "OMG they aren't death-doom anymore".... so you never heard The Angel And The Dark River, Like Gods Of The Sun, and most of For Lies I Sire? Hell one of the best off Feel The Misery, "And My Father Left Forever" had no growls.
Looking forward to the new album! Whilst I am completely aware of the weighty subject matter being discussed within the lyrics, it has to be said that the track really feels like there's something missing without strings supporting the guitar harmonies. To me that's always been a signature part of the MDB sound.
In a recent interview about this song here on Nuclear Blast's channel, Aaron says his vocals ruined the song. I think he was joking though be cause Andrew who was with him laughed.
Powerful song. This guys are eternal ! Probably the only band who didn’t disappoint me on their entire career. Not even when they went experimental ! Such an honest band like them deserve to be amongst the best metal bands ever ! And they are European which is a plus hehe
mdb songs never need videos; they come with plenty of their own pictures. I'm not yet used to the overlaid vocals, and look forward to hopefully piano in the rest of the album. As I listen to the songs a thousand more times it'll get better every time, as usual.
Wow! Holy crap honestly it just keeps getting better. It was only a matter of time before we would hear a song that refrenced arrons daughter. This album is gonna be great!

The masters of melancholy. The masters of emotions.
Knowing what the lyrics is about, it brought a tear to my eye. It is a strong piece of art.
Even after 30 years of Doom and Gloom, this is by far the hardest hitting song MDB has ever written. As a parent, this song cuts deep.
it does my friend, it does.
